Prior to working at Nancy and Carlos’s workshop, Yolanda spent many years working in artisanal markets in the Galapagos. Andean Collection’s fair trade regulations have allowed her to rely on a steady source of income. She works alongside her husband Roberto. They have one daughter, Shirleen.

Anita is an Andean Collection high school scholarship recipient. She speaks Spanish and Quecha and is currently learning English. She has two brothers and two sisters. Prior to working with Nancy and Carlos, she had to leave school for two years to work full time. The Andean Collection scholarship allows her to now attend school and work for fair wages. Her earnings at Nancy and Carlos’s workshop make up a significant portion of her family’s income.

Andean Collection provides financial assistance in the form of zero-interest loans to help artisans enhance their income from Andean Collection through workshop improvements, or to start a new family business in a different industry. Before working with Andean Collection, Jose Luis’s textile workshop was relegated to one small room in his home. He used the zero-interest loan to greatly expand his workshop and achieve a better work-life balance.
