Welcome to the 2022-2023 Link Yearbook!

This has been an amazing school year! Another school year has come to an end, and we have all witnessed the progress that you have made in order to reach your goals! Your teachers have been with you every step of the way and with their encouragement, support and understanding you have been able to overcome any obstacles that were on your way! Some of you learned the alphabet, numbers, and took your first steps in communicating in English. Other students, learned how to write and spell (although some spelling mistakes are evident as part of your learning journey), you expressed your ideas, wrote about your interests hobbies, and friendships, and described your role model(s). Some of you also learned how to use arguments – strong arguments to defend your point of view and discuss different issues such as computers and education or the reasons you admire someone in your life. This journey, became more interesting as you practiced creative writing which gave you the opportunity to express yourself in a different and unique way!

We are all extremely proud of you! Most of all we feel honored that we were part of that journey and we were able to witness this magical step by step transformation! We are looking forward to seeing you in September! Enjoy your wonderful work!

Dear students,

This year was a great one as the Link program was held at the brand-new Anatolia Elementary campus! We are thrilled to have had students from PK to 6th grade participate in the programme, and we want to give a special shout-out to our wonderful English teachers who went above and beyond to make sure that our students had a fantastic learning experience. It's always amazing to see the growth and development of the younger students, and I'm sure they will continue to thrive in the years to come. I hope that everyone who participated in the Link program made lasting memories and enjoyed their time after school.

Have an amazing summer everyone!

Welcome

Ms. Maroula and Ms. Eva

Who are these little people?

They are the K's.

Who walked in , in September not knowing what to say.

Who are these little people ?

Who used to be afraid , and now are chanting, singing and smiling every day.

Who are these little people? They grasp, they learn, they say and wow me with their English and always make my day. They are our little people, who try hard every day. So have an amazing summer!!! That's all that's left to say.

Hugs and Kisses

Ms. Aphrodite

Angeliki, Angelos, Alex, Elena, Konstandinos, Loukas, Romanos and Sotiris!

You are all fantastic! You have made wonderful progress this year due to your consistent hard work and cooperation. You willingly took part in all our tasks with enthusiasm even after a long day at school. It has been wonderful teaching you this year and I know you will continue to thrive in English.

I hope you have an exciting, fun and relaxing summer!

It has been a great year having you all in my class as you have all worked extra hard and have learned many new things, using all the vocabulary taught this year to express yourself only in English. The great team work we have shared as a class was precious and I have had a wonderful year teaching you all.

I have enjoyed getting to know you all individually. Have a great summer!

My dear team,

You are the best crew ever. You give the best fistbumps in the world. You are the best teacher assistants. You are the best students in every aspect and I was so lucky to spend the year with you. I am going to miss talking about pizza and showing me your socks, commenting on football matches, receiving your beautiful drawings and watching ski videos together.

I am very proud of all of your hard work and progress. But most of all, I am proud of the great, caring and sweet kids you are. I am going to miss your smiley faces and I am always going to cheer for you. Your teacher and biggest fan,

It was great having you this year! It was a pleasure meeting everyone! Together, we had so much fun! I have learned many things from you and I hope that you have learned something from me, too! This year, you worked really hard in order to engage with our lessons. But, the most important thing is that you worked as a team and you managed to complete demanding projects. You developed your writing skills and you cultivated your critical thinking. You are more than ready for Level 4! I will miss you all.

Enjoy your well deserved summer break!

They say that time flies when you’re having fun and how quickly the year went by with you nine students! You consistently worked hard throughout the course of the year and I’m so glad to see the progress that you have made. A teacher hopes for nothing more than for her students to become more confident in using newly learned information and watching you creatively and productively engage in English, which has been very satisfying and rewarding for me.

While I take great pride in the progress you have all made, what I will remember most about our time together is not your increasing ability to write and speak with greater skill and maturity, but how easily you all made me smile.

I could not have asked for more engaging students, eager to participate in each and every class activity! You are highly capable and confident young learners whose continued success always amazed me throughout the year!

Well done for all the great work you did this year! Have a wonderful summer and don’t forget to use your English!

My favorite animals are cats and canaries. Cats have very soft fur, the sound they make is “meow” and their meow is very sweet and cute. They like eating and sleeping and they usually sleep a lot. Their favorite food is cat food with chicken and fish. Their favorite toy is usually a little toy mouse.

Canaries are usually yellow and they live in cages. They are very sweet and cute and they tweet all day long. They eat seeds. I love cats and canaries! By

My favorite animals are rabbits. Rabbits live in holes. They are brown, white, gray, and black and they have long ears. They can jump very high. Rabbits can be a pet. They eat carrots and grass. They are very cute but sometimes wild as well. The tail of a rabbit is small and hairy.

I like rabbits because they are cute.

My favorite animals are dogs and cats. They are both house animals. Cats can run fast but they can’t fly, the same as dogs. They like to play with children but they like to have a bath. Dogs and cats visit the vet, so they can stay healthy. Cats like to drink milk and dogs like to eat dog food. Dogs and cats are people’s best friends. Dogs usually have a small dog house in the garden. Cats have a little bed inside the house. What is your favorite animal?

My favorite animal is the yellow snake eel. The yellow snake eel- also known as the charmed snake eel- the eel is an eel family Ophichthidae. It was described by David Starr Jordan and Charles Henry Gilbert in 1882. It is a marine, subtropical eel known from the eastern central and southeastern Pacific Ocean, including Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Panama, Peru and the USA. It dwells at a range of 1 to 110 m (3.3 to 360.9 ft), and forms burrows in rocky and sandy regions. Males can reach a maximum total length of 818 cm (322 in), but more commonly reach a length of 540 cm (210 in).

My favorite animals are cats. Cats are very cute and small and have a very long tail. Cats eat fish, mice and cat food and they drink water and milk. Cats can jump from very high places and they usually land on their feet! Cats love sleeping and they are very lazy. I haven’t got any cats but my neighbors have three. Cats can be white, black, brown and sometimes grey. Cat’s biggest enemies are dogs. Dogs chase cats all the time. But some dogs and cats live peacefully together because their owners have taken them when they were very young and they got used to each other. I wish my parents could get me a cat!

My favorite animals are dogs. There are many kinds of dogs. Some dogs help people. Some dogs help blind people and learn how to take care of them because they can’t see. There are many different kinds of dogs. There are also many different colors. Some are black, white, brown or grey! They like to play with humans and also with each other! They like to eat dog food. I love them! Do you like them?

My favorite animals are spiders because they eat bad insects and they are cute! Spiders hate blue lights and they live 2 years but they rarely live for 20 years. Spiders eat insects or the bin spiders eat worms, snails, frogs, lizards, birds and bats. Spiders generally want to avoid humans and see humans as furniture that moves! Spiders can see only two colors: green and ultraviolet light. Some male spiders just want to be eaten. Spiders want to work together and can go fishing. They are real superheroes! I love them!

My favorite animals are dogs. They are cute and friendly. Dogs can be small or big. They can live 10-13 years. They have good relationships with humans. Their favorite food is meat. They are 15-110 centimeters. There are a lot of kinds of dogs. A dog is 1, 4 – 110 grams. They have strong teeth. When they are 8 months old they have 42 permanent teeth.

My favorite animal is the dog because I have three dogs, Roben, Cherry and Marron. Dogs are very cute, and they are very clever and they are also very good guards. Some people use dogs to help them in their lives. Dogs like to play all the time and when they are puppies they play even more! They can help blind people and they are people’s best friends.

My dear students,

I would like to thank you for the wonderful academic year that we have shared! Elena, Paraskevi, Matthew, Telemachos, Paul and Nina, you are amazing kids with great potential. Your excellent manners, enthusiasm and spontaneity during our lessons made our meetings very productive for all of us, I am sure!

Summer is just around the corner and I have a last piece of advice for you: Enjoy it as much as you can, you deserve it!

Your teacher, Ms. Helen G.

My favourite person is Dalida. Dalida is 10 years old and she was born in 2012. She has a sister, 7 years old, and a brother, 14 years old. Dalida is kind, friendly funny, but sometimes she is a little bit lazy. She is tall, thin and beautiful. She doesn’t like people who lie or who are rude. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, she comes to my house to play and listen to music or for a sleepover. I love her so much because if something happens, she will be there for me. I would do anything for my friend!

My favourite person is my sister Angela. She is 13 years old. She has blue eyes and long blond hair. She is tall and slim. She isn’t quiet or shy, but she is lively and she always expresses her opinion. She is very polite not only with me but also with other people. She goes to Anatolia High School and her favourite subjects are German and English. She likes kickboxing and she is very good at it. I love her very much and she is MY NUMBER ONE!!!

The new computers can help us do a lot of things. Firstly, we will watch things that are not in the books. Secondly, if we have computers, students will learn many things about programming. Another important thing is that we can’t live without computers, so if students learn how to use them, in the future they will live without any difficulties. However, I think that sometimes computers aren’t very important. We have to learn to use them to make our life easier.

So, I think that computers can help us a lot, if we are careful.

Well, computers can be extremely useful in our classroom!

Firstly, they will make learning more fun with online games. This will also be easier for the teacher. Secondly, even if a student forgets their books, they will be able to copy the exercises in their notebooks. Computers will make students’ lives easier because they won’t have to carry many books! If we have computers, we won’t have to run to the bookshop to buy pencils, pens, notebooks, sharpeners etc. However, being in front of a computer isn’t healthy. Students may have eye problems and they also need time to meet their friends.

In conclusion, I think that one day everything will be online, but we have to be careful.

Dear students,

Breaking news! The principal has decided that we can have several new computers in our classrooms!!! Let’s find out their advantages. Firstly, from now on projects will be easier. We can use our computers to do our homework and we can do everything online. However, we must not use them too much because we may have eye problems.

Secondly, if we study with the computers, we will do our homework faster and have time to play. But I think that the problem is when we play videogames and don’t study our lessons. There are a lot of good and bad things about computers. What do you think?

I feel truly lucky to have taught this group of children: Grigoris, Konstantinos, Konstantinos, Marios, Paul and Sylvia. Your curiosity and imaginative spirit are a key component of your success. Your willingness to explore and discover new ideas, as well as your ability to think outside the box, allows you to express yourself in creative and unique ways.

You have been very creative and committed all along!

I am looking forward to seeing you next year! Keep up the good work!

A person I admire very much is Michael Jordan. He is considered the best basketball player of all time. He’s black and bald. His height is 1.98m, quite acceptable for an NBA player. He has a strong body. He seems nice and friendly. His teammates describe him as a really consistent passionate athlete, with a strong will. He can achieve whatever he aims for. That’s why he stood out. Apart from being a good basketball player, he is also a talented businessman. He took part in a film and advertisments, too! He raises money for charities and makes many donations. He wrote several books about his life and his basketball career.

During his career he won innumerable prizes, awards, medals and distinctions.

I admire my dad. He is called George and he is 45 years old. He is tall with normal weight. He has black, curly hair and brown eyes. My dad is a very helpful and friendly character. He was born in Thessaloniki in 1977. When he was young, he used to ride his bike and play with his friends in the neighborhood. His parents Konstantinos and Theodora took care of him a lot. Konstantinos is my grandpa and Theodora my grandma.

I love him because he is funny and brave. He always makes things look positive even if we are at the worst possible moment. He is intelligent, he gives brilliant ideas, and he is really good at sports such as tennis, football, ping pong and more. He is sympathetic, always smiling and never shy or rude. He is really nice to others, a bit strict with me but never bad-tempered. He passed the police academy when he was 21 and got a BACHELOR’s degree in history at the age of 37. He also did a MASTER’s degree at the age of 40. He has an Advanced level in English too.

Finally, I admire him and he is an idol to me because all these years he stood by my side to help me get a good education, even if he needed to spend money on something else. Also, he supported me when I did something dumb. I love my dad and I believe he is the best in the world

The person I admire is Lionel Messi. He is a famous football player. He is one off the best football players in the world.

Messi was born on 24 June 1987 in Rossario, Argentina. His father was Jorge Messi, a steel factory manager and his mother was Celia Cuttini. She worked in a workshop.

Messi moved to Spain to join the Barcelona team at the age of 13. He signed his first professional contract in 2004.

I like him because he made history, and he became an all-time leading goal scorer. He is also one of the highest paid athletes. He is really tough because he trains really hard every day. He is strict with himself because he doesn’t eat unhealthy food and he exercises a lot. He is determined so he can score many goals. Even though he loses sometimes, he is never mean!

My mum is someone I admire. Her name is Anastasia. She is tall and pretty. She has brown eyes and hair.

My mum was born in Thessaloniki. Her parents (and my grandparents) are Sylvia and Nikos. They told me that she was a very cheerful and nice child.

My mum studied law and now she is a successful lawyer that helps people to solve their problems. She is also teaching at the Law School. She worked very hard, so I am happy for her.

I admire her because she is always kind and helpful. I have never seen her being mean or rude to anyone. She is also trustworthy, and people can rely on her. She is never selfish, as she listens to others and respects their feelings and needs. Finally, I mostly love her because she is always there when I need her. I love her and that will never change.

One of the people that I admire is my elder brother Michael. Michael is 20 years old. He studies Electrical Engineering in the Polytexnio, Thessaloniki. He has brown eyes and black curly hair. He is tall and handsome and is very smart and intelligent too.

My brother is always thoughtful and helpful to others and he always plays with me. Michael is like a human calculator, because he is very good at maths. Basketball it is his favorite sport and he is really good at it. He also plays darts really well and beats everyone.

My brother has achieved lots of things that I want to achieve too. He passed Anatolia’s exams with a really high score and went to a very prestigious university.

Michael is a very admirable and inspiring person, and one day I wish to be like him.

A rescue under the water

It was a sunny day in Chalkidiki, when I was with my friend, Stavros. Stavros is 14 years old and he lives next to our house. It was boiling and we were bored. We wanted to do something. Finally, after a lot of thinking, we decided to go to the sea.

We were both very excited. We were swimming. We were talking about a summer camp, because he was supposed to go there, and play with water. We were having so much fun.

It was almost time to go when I, without meaning to do so, hit a huge rock. I hurt myself. We cleaned the blood from my feet, and I went back to the sea to see how big the rock I had kicked before was. I got my water-mask and I saw a fish trapped in the rock.

We didn’t know what to do. I was too worried. The rock was too heavy, and we couldn’t pull it out of the water. Finally, I got my snorkel so that I could breathe under water and pushed it outside of the water. We were so happy. We could see the fish swimming again. We felt that it thanked us.

After the “rescue”, we left. I went to Stavros’s house, and we thought about the fish. We were so glad that we saved it!

I have had many experiences during my time at Link. I have been here since kindergarten, and there have been both good and bad times. I have made friends who joined my class, and Link has helped me reach my full potential. I will always remember that. Participating in debates and playing escape rooms has been a lot of fun. Maybe I don't understand right now how Link class has helped me, but I'm sure I will understand in the future. I want to thank Link for the amazing experiences they have given me.

I have been a student here for many years, and I have absolutely loved it. Firstly, we learn by doing fun activities, which makes the learning process engaging and enjoyable. Secondly, we have a fantastic teacher who helps us understand things more easily. We always have a great time and truly enjoy the lessons. I hope that every upcoming year at this school will be as interesting and enjoyable as this one.

I have been a student at Link for many years, and I believe that I have learned a lot during my time here. I took part in activities where I could share my opinions, which was enjoyable. The games we played were also fun, and they made me want to try harder to win.

This program has given me one of the best experiences during my last eight years of school. I had the chance to try out different things and improve, especially in expressing my opinion. I really enjoyed the discussions where I could share what I thought about the subject.

In the past two years, I have seen my English becoming better and better. This progress will help me reach my goals and become even better. I have also made friends and had the chance to spend time with them, engaging in fun activities during our classes.

I have been a student at Link for eight years, and it has been a lot of fun. We have done many creative activities that made learning enjoyable. The teachers were great and always ready to help everyone. I’d really love to continue having lessons.

I have been a student here for seven years. At Link, I have made new friends and have improved as a student. This has made me feel like a winner.

I have studied at Link for two years. At Link, we have done many activities to work on my English skills, like projects, presentations, and other creative tasks. I find Link enjoyable and I really like it. Joseph Lestos
