CHAIR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF METALLURGICAL, MATERIALS AND BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

The University of Texas at El Paso is a place where students seeking opportunities come for a short time to make impressions on each other and the faculty that teach them. As faculty, we are very fortunate to have the opportunity to shape a small part of your person in and out of our many classrooms. We hope that you collected memories as you made your way through UTEP and made lasting friendships that will be a motivating factor as you build your future.

As UTEP continues to grow and you make your own success in the world, we encourage you to come back and share your stories with us so that together we can hopefully continue to make a collective imprint on the university’s historical mission to influence the lives of all our students, especially El Paso’s and Juarez’s young people. So, at this time, we celebrate you as Spring 2021 graduates of The University of Texas at El Paso!

DR. THOMAS BOLAND

PROGRAM DIRECTOR, BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

Congratulations on your milestone. Being a graduate of the BME graduate program is an accomplishment to be proud of. The past year was filled with difficulties that affected all of us personally and professionally. I am extremely proud of you because you showed resilience and persistence though all the obstacles that you encountered during this pandemic. I hope you will be able to celebrate your achievement with your family and loved ones. As we return to normal, I wish you all the best and success in your future endeavours. Congratulations again!

MESSAGES FROM OUR GRADUATES

ABHILASH ADITYA | Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering The doctoral program in Materials Science & Engineering (MASE) has enhanced my knowledge and skills, making me an expert in the field. From now on, I’m set on the path to explore the innovative applications of materials and 3D printers. I’m grateful for the support I’ve been given; personally, I would not be here without the support of my professors, family, and friends.

DULCE GABRIELA ZAMORANO OROZCO |

Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering I am proud to be a Hispanic woman in STEM graduating from my master’s degree. I want to thank Johnson & Johnson for giving me the opportunity to start my professional career within the medical devices industry. Y ante todo quiero agradecer a mis padres por todo su amor y apoyo los cuales formaron a una mujer fuerte e independiente.

LEILA SUBIA | Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering It has been an honor to be part of one of the greatest engineering schools in this country. Being in a community that is driven and uplifts each other has given me the support and lifelong connections. All my future success is due to Dr. Thomas Boland, my lab, and UTEP engineering.

JAZMIN PUEBLA | Master of Science in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering I am incredibly grateful for my family and their supportive contribution to my success that did not go unnoticed. If not for your love and support, I would not be standing among the graduates today. Thank you to the UTEP community that helped me along this journey in receiving my degree. This journey was full of obstacles and doubts, but I rose to the challenge and accomplished this monumental goal.
