I designed a climate-oriented building facade as a unique design for Liral Group headquarters. Liral Group is a group of companies including Australian Silicon Valley, Defii and others.
The front of the ground floor is glazed with low-e glass. The rest of the facade consists of a continuous metallic surface made of recyclable aluminum. The surface of the panels is perforated with rhombus-shaped openings which are solar adaptive. They track the sun on a dual-axis tracking system and work as adjustable shading devices. Thereby the kinetic facade changes its appearance dynamically due to movement of the rhombuses occurring on a building’s surface.
The facade creates comfortable internal conditions for occupants. The facade perforations and open roof promote natural light and ventilation. Behind the kinetic envelope is a recreation green terrace. It improves air quality, blocks city noise and creates a relaxing environment offering a change of scenery in an office environment.
