Florida Realtors Urges Members to Renew Their License ORLANDO, FL, Feb 21, 2012 -
In a recent report from the Florida Real Estate Commission, Florida Realtors has learned that nearly 2/3rds of all licensees with licenses expiring on March 30, 2012 have yet to complete the renewal process. According to Florida Statute 475.182, all licensees must complete the required post-licensing or continuing education and submit a renewal application and fee on or before the date of expiration. Any license that is not renewed at the end of the license period shall automatically revert to involuntary inactive status. At that time, practice of real estate by licensees with an involuntary inactive license is illegal. Licensees can go online to http://www.myfloridaliense.com to verify continuing education credits, as well as submit their renewal application online. Once all education requirements are met and the application has been received, the license will renew automatically the next business day. Many licensees think that once continuing education has been completed, renewal is automatic. At the same time, the opposite is true and some licensees will complete their application online without ensuring all continuing education has been completed. Only when both the required education has been completed, and the application has been received by the DBPR, will a license be renewed. Also, some members may not be aware of their expiration date. With one-quarter of all Florida license holders due to renew on March 30th, Florida Realtors is encouraging all licensees (not just members) to go online to verify their license expiration date, completed continuing education and application status. Licensees may also contact the Customer Contact Center of the DBPR at 850-487-1395 to verify this information.
