ADOPT A RIVER PROJECT OF AMERICAN CORNER DAVAO On July 1, American Corner Davao in partnership with Kasilak Development Foundation conducted the “Adopt a River Project.” More than 50 volunteers joined the activity to plant 110 bamboos and 550 endemic trees in Cogan Creek, Calinan, Davao City. Cogan Creek is a water source for a watershed that supplies water to communities in Davao City.

AMERICAN SPACES PH CONNECTING CORNERS CHALLENGE: FILIPINO STUDENT LIFE IN THE UNITED STATES In celebration of US-PH Friendship Day, American Spaces Philippines hosted the Connecting Corners Challenge on the topic “Filipino Student Life in the United States.” Three Fulbright Global UGrad Alumni served as speakers and five American Corners: Baguio, Batac, Cebu, Jolo, and Manila participated in the event virtually last July 7.

FILIPINO-AMERICAN FRIENDSHIP 3D CRAFT ART COMPETITION In celebration of Filipino-American Friendship, Thomas Jefferson Information Center organized a 3D Craft Competition. Nine American Corners participated. All of the participating Corners conducted an on-the-spot competition where participants created 3D crafts showcasing the continuing and growing friendship of the Philippines and the United States.

MAKER@CORNER GOES TO BACOLOD On July 13, American Corner Bacolod hosted a Maker@Corner activity that taught 40 senior high school students from the University of St. La Salle 3D designing and prototyping.


GO GREEN GOES TO SCHOOLS On July 14, American Corner Bacolod visited two elementary schools in Bacolod City and conducted a workshop on upcycling and recycling with 150 students. The participants learned how to upcycle and recycle old plastic bottles.

#TECHTHURSDAY: VR AND AR IN EDUCATION On July 17, the Thomas Jefferson Information Center hosted a Tech Thursday workshop on Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). 30 senior high school students and teachers learned about new, and innovative ways to apply VR and AR inside the classroom.

PEACE EDUCATION THRU TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOP @ THE CORNER On July 17 to 22, American Corner Cotabato and American Corner Cebu hosted the Peace Education through Technology Workshop with 80 out-of-school youth. The workshop empowered the participants by providing new ways to gather and share information using technology.

FULBRIGHT-CHED SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION SESSIONS On July 18-21, American Corners Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, and Cebu hosted information sessions on the “FulbrightCHED Scholarship.” The sessions promoted the scholarship to 300 university faculty and staff.

CLEAN AND GREEN PROGRAM GOES TO THE COMMUNITY On July 19, American Corner Iloilo organized a waste segregation talk and clean-up drive in Pagsanga-an Iloilo. The activity is part of the Corner's Go Green program that aims to inform and promote clean, healthy, and safe communities.

LIGHTS FOR ALL PROJECTS AT AMERICAN CORNER BAGUIO On July 20, American Corner Baguio hosted the “Lights for All Project” workshop. 30 engineering students assembled 100 solar-powered lamps that will be donated to disasterprone communities in Northern Luzon.


MAKE-A-THON WORKSHOP IN BAGUIO CITY NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL On July 20, 40 senior high school students from Baguio City National High School celebrated National Science Month through the American Spaces PH Make-A-Thon Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) workshop. During the workshop, participants learned to use 3D printers and engaged in design thinking activities that enhanced their creativity and innovation skills.

PARALYMPIC SPORTS SUMMIT AT AMERICAN CORNER BAGUIO On July 21, AC Baguio together with the Philippine Paralympic Committee (PPC) hosted the Paralympic Sports Summit. 80 participants from the national sports associations, nongovernment organizations, educational institutions, and the government sector participated in the summit. U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Y. Kim and Baguio City's Mayor graced the event.

MAKE-A-THON @ PHILIPPINE MILITARY ACADEMY On July 21, 30 Philippine Military officers and cadets participated in the American Spaces Make-A-Thon Design Thinking and 3D Printing Workshop, held at the American Shelf, Philippine Military Academy. The Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines, Michael Klecheski, graced the event and welcomed the participants to the program.
