Kessel
Cincinnati's Brewing Museum and Biergarten
2
Kessel, the German word for “kettle”, looks at the history of Cincinnati’s brewing industry and the its impact on the city.
The Kessel Museum is made up of 3 parts, the first being a microbrew that produces small commercial quantities of traditional Cincinnati beers. The second is the museum on the second floor that looks into the beer making process, its history and the impact brewing had, and is continuing to have on Cincinnati. The final part is the bar and Biergarten on the main floor. Here patrons get the chance to experience a similar beer culture explained in the museum. The forms of Kessel are derived from the equipment of the brewing proecess. Guests are led into Kessel past the biergarten where they circle the Kettle Bar. Following the elegant curves of the stair, guests are led through exhibit spaces where they learn about the brewing process, watch it beer being made, and see how the brewing industry left its mark on Cincinnati. Following the museum guests, tourists and locals, are invited to join in as family around long social tables and expand and experience the legacy of beer.
