Theodore R. Stumo
Cecelia (Halverson) Lieffring
Theodore R. Stumo, age 86 of Clear Lake, WI, died early Thursday morning, April 14, 2016 , at the Willow Ridge Care Center in Amery, WI where he had been a resident for the past 3 years. Theodore Ralph Stumo was born on February 17, 1930, in Clayton, WI, the son of Theodore and Edith (Norden) Stumo. He grew up in Clayton, and was baptized at Moe Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and confirmed at the West Mission Covenant Church in Clayton Township. Theodore joined the US Navy in 1947 and honorably served for 20 years. During this time he received his GED and became a Chief Petty Officer electrician. Theodore was married on August 17, 1963 to Joanne Schlicht at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistadt, WI. Together they raised three sons; Jevon, Theodore and Matt. After he was discharged from the Navy in 1967, Theodore went to work at Stockers Refrigeration in Amery, WI for several years. In 1973, Theodore began farming in Clear Lake, WI raising beef and dairy cattle. He was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Amery, serving as an usher for many years and on the property committee. In his spare time, Theodore enjoyed hunting, hiking, and traveling, especially trips to Alaska and the Grand Canyon. After retiring from farming in 1986, he and Joanne spent their winters in Arizona and California. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Theodore is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Edith Stumo; brothers, Donald, Frederick, and Stanley Stumo; sisters, Frances Anderson and Ruth Paulson. Survived by wife, Joanne Stumo of Clear Lake; sons, Jevon (Annette) Stumo of Clear Lake, Theodore (Rita) Stumo of Anchorage, AK and Matt (Traci) Stumo of Somerset; Grandchildren, Dominique Stumo, Krista Christiansen, Ethan Stumo, Lillianna Stumo; Great Grandchildren, Rosalie, Quintin, Nikolai, and Brayden; brothers, Victor Stumo of Roseville, MN and Phillip (Marion) Stumo of Blaine, MN; sister-inlaw, Della Dole of Traverse City, MI; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral service was on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at KANABEC COUNTY 11 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Amery, WI. Pastor Tom Hahn officiated. Music was provided by Debbie Raether and Judy Wamanen. Pallbearers were Karl Stumo, Gene Anderson, John Stumo, Bob Paulson, Nickolaus Stumo-Langer, and David Nault. Visitation was the hour before the service at the church. Interment is in Moe Lutheran Cemetery, Clear Lake, with Military Honors provided by All Veterans Clear Lake Area Honor Guard . Cecelia M. (Halverson) Lieffring, age 91 of Clear Lake, WI, died on April 12, 2016 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. Cecelia Mary Lieffring was born on November 5, 1924, in Baldwin, WI, the daughter of Oza and Mary (Utech) Bazille. She grew up in the Cylon area, was baptized and confirmed at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Cylon, and attended country school. Cecelia was married to Walter Halverson on September 23, 1944 and together they farmed for a short time in Cylon. They also had seven children together, Mary, Gary, Denny, Joyce, Donny, Janice and Darrel. During those years, Cecelia worked at Fabritech in Baldwin, WI and at the Laurel Supper Club. Walter died in 1973. Cecelia was married to John Lieffring on November 27, 1976 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake. They farmed together in rural Clear Lake until the time of his death in 2007. In her spare time, Cecelia loved gardening, playing cards, reading the Bible, cooking for her family and was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church. The past 8 years, she has been living with her daughter in the village of Clear Lake. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Cecelia is preceded in death by husbands, Walter Halverson and John Lieffring; parents; Oza and Mary Bazille; daughter, Mary Tylee; sons, Gary Halverson, Denny Halverson, and Darrel Halverson; brothers, Joe, Ray, and Henry Bazille. Survived by sons and daughters, Joyce (Dusty) Christensen of Clear Lake, Donny Halverson of Glenwood City, Janice (Roger) Bonte of Glenwood City; son-in-law, Jerry Tylee of Cambridge, MN; 14 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren; brothers and sister, Teresa Miller of Glenwood City, Lawrence (Jeannie) Bazille of Clear Lake, John Bazille of Emerald; nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake. Visitation was on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 5-8 pm at the Scheuermann Funeral Home in Clear Lake, and an hour before at the church on Saturday. There was be a parish prayer service at the Funeral Home on Friday at 7:30 p.m. with Clergy - Fr. John Long officiating. Music was provided by Yoshio Shakal and St. John’s Choir. Casketbearers were Casey Christensen, Mickey Christensen, Travis Bonte, Raymond Bonte, Steve Tylee, Bill Tylee, Heidi Halverson and Jessica McGillis. Carmen L. (Wenstad) Skifstad May 25, 1929-April 15, 2016 Carmen Luella (Wenstad) Skifstad, 86, of New Richmond, went home to be with her Lord April 15, 2016 at Westfield Hospital in New Richmond. Memorial services are 2 p.m. April 23, 2016 at First Baptist Church in New Richmond with Pastor Kevin Morris officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the Memorial Service. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Private interment will take place at a later date. Carmen was born May 25, 1929 in Alden Township, Polk County, Wisconsin to Alvin T. and Mabel (Johnson) Wenstad. She attended Cedar Lake School and then graduated from Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis. She continued her education for two years at Bethel College in St. Paul, MN. She was united in marriage December 30, 1950 to Stanley C. Skifstad at the Star Prairie Covenant Church. To this union, four children were born. Carmen served the Lord at her church as a Sunday School teacher, pianist and organist. She also was involved in the American Sunday School Union camp at Wascott, WI as a teacher, counselor and pianist. She and Stanley lived on and worked a farm just north of Star Prairie for 27 years. In 1977, they sold the farm and moved into New Richmond. Carmen worked at the New Richmond Public Library for a number of years before retiring, but continued as a volunteer for a while. In Carmen's recent years, she was a devoted caregiver to her husband. Her hobbies and interests included genealogy, reading, quilting, and making holiday/ birthday cards for family members. The number one goal in Carmen's life was to glorify God in all she said and did. She had a servant's heart and was a prayer warrior, praying for her family, her church and many missionaries on a daily basis. She desired that her grand kids and their children grow in their Christian faith and to keep their eyes on Jesus. Carmen is survived by her husband of 65 years, Stanley, New Richmond; children, Glen (Terri) Skifstad, Grantsburg; Galen (Marianne) Skifstad, New Richmond; and Jeannice (Robert) Dunlap, Waterloo, IA; grandchildren, Leah (Zach) Lade, Grantsburg; Cari Skifstad, Rice Lake; Laura Skifstad Meyer, Grantsburg; and Carissa Skifstad, Superior, MN; Joel Dunlap, Louisville, KY; Eric Dunlap, Ames, IA; and Bethany Dunlap, Waterloo, IA; great grandchildren, Ellie and Eva Lade; and Morgan Meyer. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Susan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Navigators ministry or SEND International Missions.
