I was born in Minnesota but have been a Wisconsin Resident since 1984. We have two wonderful children attending college and have lived in the Milltown Community for the past 32 years. I’m active in our church, school and community. “I have been employed with Polk County for the last 24 Hacker years. I started out part-time working in Parks, Building & Solid Waste as the Office Manager, along with working part-time in the County Clerk’s office, so I am familiar with duties of County Clerk. “I currently hold a position in the Polk County Community Service Division in Economic Support. Monson earns Amery’s first ‘Scholar Athlete’ title in twelve years
THE SUN BY JESSICA DE LA CRUZ EDITOR@THEAMERYFREEPRESS.COM
As a WIAA school, Amery nominates one boy and one girl annually for the WIAA Scholar Athlete program. During a March 30 awards banquet, Amery Senior Alicia Monson became the first Amery student in 12 years to be chosen for the award. The last
Amery student to earn the award was 2004 graduate Daniel Hegg. In recognition, Monson receives a medallion, a certificate, and special plaque for display in the school’s trophy case. The state awards ceremony will take place in May. The WIAA Scholar Athlete program began in 1984. Each WIAA member school may nominate one boy and one
girl for the honor, and only eight students are chosen statewide from each athletic division. Awardees are selected based on both athletic and academic achievement. Alicia is the daughter of Jay and Beth Monson. She has lettered in Cross Country all four years of high school, basketball her sophomore and junior years, and track three years so
