Italian American Cultural Society Providing Meals to Frontline HealthcareWorkers During COVID-19

MACOMB, Mich. (April 27, 2020) - IACS has come up with a way to support Healthcare Workers & First Responders, while keeping some of their own employees working. When survival is paramount, maintaining perspective can be difficult. “I have a lot of employees to worry about, and this is one way we can all take care of each other.” Says Alex Lozovoj, General Manager of the Italian American Cultural Society, Clinton Township, MI. IACS is taking donations to help pay for the preparation and delivery of meals to local Healthcare workers. “We’re thrilled that this is kicking off and we can show our support and appreciation to our local Healthcare Heroes.” Says Alex Lozovoj. Many people have already donated, allowing them to provide over 1,000 meals to different local locations including; Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital, St. John’s Hospital in Detroit, Henry Ford Hospital, Pine Ridge of Sterling Heights Assisted Living, and local Churches and Police Departments, to name a few. Sysco Detroit has been a huge help in supporting this cause by donating some of the food to make these meals. You can visit www. iacsonline.com to make a donation. A minimum donation of $20 will help provide meals to FESTA DELLA REPUBBLICA these essential workers, and as a gift you'll receive a "Thank You Heroes" sign to display in your front yard to show your support! “As a non-profit, we know that community is so important at CANCELLED a time like this. Coming together will make a difference. We don’t want to see this food go bad. Due to the current COVID-19 Donations are helping us prepare and deliver these meals.” Says Kris Kosky, Banquet Director (coronavirus) situation, Festa della Repubblica at IACS. Alex and his staff have made delicious hot meals with his in house recipes all of their is cancelled on Sunday, June 7, 2020 clients rave about. IACS • MESSAGE TO MEMBERS, READERS, Friends of the Italian American Cultural Society, and the Community As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been difficult to communicate especially with the Italian American newspaper and official meetings regarding the affairs of the Society. However, as you have noticed, our Italian community is out there getting involved in helping the healthcare responders to the needs of the people. The Sicilian Federation and all the clubs affiliated have collectively gotten involved this past week and have donated food/sandwiches to the doctors, nurses, and first responders at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. It is our intention to do much more for our neighboring communities. Please observe the Stay Home Stay Safe recommendations.
