GIOVANNI LOIACONO Recalling the comings and goings of yet another year at the Italian American Cultural Center, I am writing my December message with you in mind. My respect and regard to all IACS members for the confidence you have shown me and my fellow Board members. Year 2020 is thankfully almost over. As evidenced by your continued support, I am encouraged and look forward to having the IACS achieve a more favorable year in 2021.

Throughout these problematic months, the IACS Board of Directors and General Manager, Alex Lozovoj, conscientiously watched the swift and troubling changes linked with the spread of the COVID-19 and its impact toward the IACS – having to deal with specific guidelines placed on the IACS. The IACS is keenly aware of your health and safety concerns when planning an event at the Center. We followed all government regulations and guidelines. The Banquet Center offered special catering and on-site event menus. Last summer, a new promotion was introduced “Congrats Grad”, offering special classic Italian and BBQ menus. We were able to bring about daily curbside dinner carryouts, including Easter and Mother’s Day brunches, and Thanksgiving Day dinners to go. We have had many

outdoor weddings under a new tent on the East side of the building in front of the Trellis, and a variety of other parties on our covered patio.

The pond and our landscaping make a beautiful backdrop for all special occasions.

Spring 2020, the IACS had an opportunity to assist the Federazione Siciliana del Michigan and distributed 300 boxed lunches (prepared by the IACS banquet staff) to the Henry Ford Macomb Hospital doctors, nurses, and first responders. A “Thank You Hero’s” sign supporting our community was another means by which the IACS participated in... helping to provide meals and feed healthcare workers and first responders.

Although some favorite entertainment and Italian language classes had to be interrupted or postponed, many events/activities were made available for IACS members to enjoy – socially and culturally at the Center.

We were still able to bring about as many of the Senior meetings as possible; just to name a few -- seafood dinner, summer senior bocce league; complimentary members picnic, Dueling Pianos, Music Under the Stars, cider tasting, bingo, Evening with Elvis, and the annual Antonio G. Vittorini Memorial Golf outing at Pine Valley Golf Course. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I sincerely express appreciation to every one of the volunteers and staff who carried on and committed themselves to bringing these events to rewarding completions.

To say the least, this year has been incredibly challenging, but due to the motivation and energy of the IACS Board of Directors and employees, we got through this by sticking together and helping one another. Thank you for your service. You deserve the warmest of holiday wishes to you and your families.

To my wife and family, the membership, and friends of the IACS, thank you for your back-up and ongoing loyalty; I wish you a joyful and peaceful Merry Christmas.

My name is Vito Lograsso.

I live in Macomb, Michigan with my beautiful wife Rosella of 21 years, and our three children Laura, Marco, and Daniele. I own a construction company and specialize in home remodeling. I speak fluent English and Italian. I lived in Italy for many years.

In my free time, I enjoy riding my motorcycle with my wife. I have participated in many Iacs events in the past few years and would love to be more involved in planning many more. If elected, I would like to see more events for the elderly combined with our new generation. They are the ones that keep the traditions alive, and they need to be passed down and not forgotten.

GASPARE DESTASI

I’m Gaspare Destasi, a 20-year-old college student studying Nursing at Oakland University. I have been a member for a few years now and with my experiences as an employee of the Italian American cultural society I feel I would make a great addition to the board. In short, the Italian community we have built at the IACS is a strong one, however with the age difference between members and your children, keeping a strong community is difficult. I would like to implement a new young eye into the board to provide fun events for the children in the community. Maintaining a positive momentum and further growing the Italian culture so even my future children can understand the familial bond that comes with the Italian community.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the ITALIAN AMERICAN CULTURAL SOCIETY is accepting nominations to the Board of Directors of the Cultural Society. Seven (7) such Directors shall be elected at the Annual Meeting of the Society to be conducted on Sunday, January, 24. 2021.

The By-Laws of the Society provide for the election of seven (7) Directors.

These Directors are elected by the general membership to serve a term of three (3) years.

A Nomination Petition is listed below and is also available at the office of the Society at 43843 Romeo Plank Road, Clinton Twp., Michigan, between 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. All completed Petitions must be received no later than Friday, December 4, 2020. Any Nomination Petition arriving later will not be accepted.

Nominating Petitions will be judged as being received as of the postmark on the envelope in which they are mailed or according to the date placed upon them by our staff, if hand delivered.

Please note that each Nomination Petition must contain the endorsement of four (4) other members of the Society, who are members in good standing of the Society, at the time they endorse a Petition. Note also that all candidates being nominated must have accepted the nomination in writing prior to the final meeting of the Nominating Committee, which shall occur on Friday, December 4, 2020.

A candidate must be a member of the Society at least ninety (90) days prior to nomination. A candidate may accept nomination by signing the Nominating Petition itself or by separate letter. Upon acceptance of nomination, the candidate must activate his/her membership through December 31, 2021.

GET TO KNOW THE CANDIDATES ..... continued CLARICE SQUILLACE (Incumbent) 9 years. I have been here through both the financially challenged times and our growth period. I currently serve on the Boards of COMITES and FADM. Formally, I served as Recording Secretary of the Calabria Club.

I have a BA in education and a Masters in Business Management. I am a proud Union Retiree Officer. I love working with our IACS Seniors as their Bereavement Chair.

In 2019, I was selected as Woman of the Year by the Columbus Day Committee.

I have studied Italian at the IACS and Wayne State University. I won a scholarship to study Italian Language and Culture in the “Wayne In Abruzzo” program.

While in Abruzzo, I was lucky to have visited Castiglione a Casauria in Pescara. My Grandparents, Antonio and Francesca (Basile) Trubiano called it home for many years. I will return to Italy to visit the towns of the Arietta and Squillace Families in Altavilla Silentina, Salerno, Campagna and Squillace, Catanzaro, Calabria.

I have been appointed by Mayors Frank Accavitti and Richard Notte to serve on various community boards.

I was also a CERT volunteer.

The IACS should feel like home to our Members. A place where our rich culture can thrive. Our people have left an indelible mark in the arts. The IACS must provide a stage to showcase our talent and a forum for learning modern Italian language as well as preserving our “dialetti”.

I love playing on our bocce league, our bingo afternoons, (even though I don’t win!) and attending regional dinners… all fun. I support our Soccer Team and the people who organized them!

I am a proud Italian American whose family immigrated to America in the late 1950’s from Sora, Italy. My parents taught me strong work ethics, the Italian language, appreciation of Italian music, and of course the pleasures of playing bocce at family picnics. In 1992, I married the man of my dreams who happens to have similar Italian ties as my own. His mother’s family is from Marsala, Sicily, and to this day, they tell of wonderful stories of the Italian community in the Detroit area. It is because of their timeless lessons that my ties to the Italian community remain strong.

Currently I am a member of IACS, as well as the Secretary of the Sorana Society.

Additionally, I served as a member of the Columbus Day Celebration Committee for the past two years. My ties to the Italian community are part of my faith life as well. As a Catechist of over twenty years at San Francesco Church, I have taught and aided our Italian American families in preparing and celebrating First Holy Communion. In addition, I have a deep devotion to Saint Joseph and have recently taken on the responsibility to organize the Saint Joseph Mass each year on March 19.

I am confident that I have the skills and experience to hold a board member’s position.

As a librarian of over twenty-five years, I have worked with numerous professional organizations such as Michigan Library Association and Michigan Catholic Library Association to organize workshops, fundraisers and membership recruitment.

happy to be Lifetime members of the Italian American Cultural Society since 2014, and my daughter Ylenia Bonni is also an Associate member. I am proud to say that I am Italo-Americana, growing up with Italian values, speaking Italian, and following Italian traditions that are of both Siciliano and Ciociaro. My family and I lived in the States until 1983; at that time, I had just finished 6th grade, and soon after that, my parents moved us all to Partinico. I went on to complete my schooling in Italy and graduated in Business and Accounting in 1991.

In Italy, my family owned a business where I worked with my dad for seven years.

I learned one of the best life lessons that could have happened to me working with my dad, a strong work ethic.

In 1993, I moved back to the States with my newly married husband, Domenico, and a few years later Ylenia was born. I worked as a plant manager for Anchor Bay packaging for 10 years until I had an accident on the job in 2003. My husband and I are continually active in the Italian community. For instance, I am the secretary for the Pastoral and Financial Council at Holy Family Church of Detroit. My whole family is also very active in our parish.

My husband is head usher for the 11:30 mass (Italian mass), and my daughter is head cantor at the same mass, and I am a lector of the Italian mass. I am highly active in

Italian American Cultural Society. For example, I have been on the Board of Directors for four years, I am the Chairperson of the Donations Committee, Co-Chair of the Newspaper Committee, member of the Cultural Committee, and member of the Bylaws Committee. In addition, I am the Chairperson for the St. Joseph Mass and Dinner that we have in mid-March with the help of our President John LoIacono, Anna Grillo, Vince Monticciolo, and our extraordinary Head Chef Alex.

I am also an active member of Club Madonna del Ponte of Partinico, Club Figli della Sicilia, and the Communications Secretary of Federazione Siciliana del MI. I have the pleasure and benefit of being in contact with so many people from Italy or of Italian descent and share our common interest in our heritage, tradition, language, and folklore – which the IACS does for our entire Italian Community. I want to personally thank you if you chose me for supporting me with your vote to continue to serve the members of our Society. We are a local insurance agency in Sterling heights and been in business for over 12 years. Pre this, I was the Reginal Director for Harrah’s Entertainment Las Vegas.

My role was managing Player Development for all 40 of their casinos nationwide.

I am a member of the Detroit Athletic Club among many other local networking clubs in the area.

When the Cultural Center was in Warren, MI, my grandmother Annunziata Salvati was extremely active in the choir along with myself as the mascot for the Columbus Day parade. A lot of them pics in the main room

are myself and Annunziata (Nancy). I have some of the fondest memories growing up and being involved with the IACS as a youngster, and I would love nothing more than to be part of it as an adult with the ability to really help make the Society grow stronger.

I am an usher for St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Baltimore and eucharistic minister. I have been a member of IACS for approximately eight years.

As a board member, I believe I have brought honesty and integrity to the membership.

In addition, I will continue to bring in new ideas on how to gap the missing link to fully participate and be involved with programs adapted to various age groups. Also, I will help in members’ activity programs, such as the original bingo games in which I am Chairman. I am a member of the Building Committee and member of the By-Laws Committee. I enjoy bringing in new entertainment such as The Elvis Show, which sold out.

Tuesday IACS Soccer Team Tuesday, November 3, 2020, it was a shocking first five minutes. Suddenly, in a blink of an eye, we were down. The team starts to get their bearings and management making quick decisions. Changing formations in the team – taking direction and coming together so quickly…they started the score and then counterattack after counterattack the team caught fire with a chance to win the game very few misses the final results ends in a tie, but we were really the winners because we had adversity of the 4 nothing lead in the beginning that we had overcome showing how special this team can be.

Over 20 years ago, Salerno spearheaded the Columbus Celebration in Lansing at his own expense.

SEBASTIANO “SAM” PREVITI I have been a member for several years and would like to be more involved and help promote our Italian language, culture, and events at the IACS. I am the oldest son of Salvatore and Sandy Previti.

I am married to Silvana Iacobacci and together we have (3) children: Salvatore, Lucia, and Sergio. 1994 Graduate of Fraser High School and received both my Bachelors of Science in Accounting in 1999 and MBA in 2004 from Wayne State University. At present, I am employed as the Financial Controller at Venture Global Solutions in Rochester Hills.

I am heavily involved in the Italian Community. Growing up, my parents brought me to all events and instilled in me the importance of

preserving our heritage and culture! I serve as Secretary of Lodge Figli Della Sicilia No.227 for over 20 years, National President of the Columbian Federation of Italian American Societies. I served as Secretary of the Federazione Siciliana del Michigan for over 16 years. I serve as Secretary of the Societa SS. Crocifisso Club Montelepre.

I am a member of both the Societa Santa Fara di Cinisi and the Societa San Giuseppe Lavoratore di Cinisi. I served in the Columbus Day Celebration Committee as Secre-

tary in 1999, Vice President in 1998 and President twice in 2000 and 2004, I was elected to serve on COM.IT.ES in 2015 and serve as a board member. Edizione Speciale Natalizia IMMACOLATA CONCEZIONE L'8 dicembre è festa in tutta Italia. Cosa si festeggia? La celebrazione dell'Immacolata Concezione!

Questo giorno apre la sequele di festività che incastonano il calendario nel periodo natalizio: non si va a scuola e anche moltissimi uffici restano chiusi. Ma perché?

Il giorno dell'Immacolata Concezione è un momento molto importante per la Chiesa cristiana e benché l'Italia sia un paese laico (lo dice la nostra Costituzione!), le nostre tradizioni sono molto legate alla religione cattolica.

ILSIGNIFICATO DELL'IMMACOLATA CONCEZIONE L'8 dicembre quindi si celebra il dogma religioso - ossia un principio fondamentale e incontestabile per i credenti - nel quale venne sancito che la Vergine Maria, madre di Gesù Cristo, nacque e venne concepita senza il Peccato Originale.

Santa Lucia Una sorta di Natale in anticipo. Il 13 dicembre è il giorno in cui viene celebrata Santa Lucia, la martire che in questa data nell’anno 304 d. C. morì a seguito delle persecuzioni di Diocleziano. La leggenda narra che la giovane, originaria di Siracusa, si unì a un pellegrinaggio al sepolcro di sant’Agata per pregare per la madre Eutichia malata, insieme a quest’ultima. Giunta al sepolcro, si addormentò e le apparve in sogno sant’Agata. Al risveglio, trovò la madre guarita e decise di consacrare la propria esistenza a Cristo: donò le sue ricchezze in beneficenza e rifiutò il suo promesso sposo, il quale la denunciò come cristiana. Ci sono però alcune eccezioni nella nostra penisola, per esempio, a Bari, in Puglia, lo si allestisce il 6 dicembre, festa di San Nicola, e a Milano il 7 dicembre, festa di Sant’Ambrogio. Anche se queste sono le date ufficiali di inizio e fine del periodo natalizio, sempre più spesso le decorazioni natalizie nelle città e nei negozi vengono allestite a fine novembre/inizio dicembre. Anche il presepe viene allestito, secondo la tradizione, l’8 dicembre. In questo periodo di feste ci sono alcuni giorni importanti da ricordare: il 24 dicembre, giorno chiamato la Vigilia di Natale; il 25 dicembre giorno del santo Natale; il 26 dicembre, giorno di Santo Stefano;

il 31 dicembre, giorno di San Silvestro o ultimo dell’anno e il primo gennaio, il primo dell’anno o capodanno.

NATALE IN FAMIGLIA Come festeggiano il Natale gli Italiani? Prima di spiegarvi quali sono le tradizioni della nostra penisola è doveroso dire che sebbene ci siano delle usanze comuni in tutta Italia, ogni famiglia ha però le sue usanze e le sue tradizioni natalizie da rispettare, che differiscono soprattutto dalla zona geografica di appartenenza. Infatti c’è chi dà più importanza al cenone della Vigilia, appunto il 24 di dicembre, e chi invece dà più importanza al giorno di Natale. Sta di fatto che nella maggioranza dei casi ci si abbuffa di cibo (mangia tanto cibo) in entrambi questi giorni. Ma cosa mangiamo durante queste feste?

Il Cenone della Vigilia è solitamente a base di pesce perché il 24 dicembre – secondo la religione cattolica – è considerato un giorno di magro, proprio come i venerdì di Quaresima, dove quindi non si può mangiare la carne. Ovviamente c’è chi rispetta questa tradizione e chi no, ogni famiglia è libera di scegliere.

Per quanto riguarda il pranzo

Posso invece azzardarmi a dire che i dolci più tradizionali e comuni delle feste natalizie sono: il pandoro, il panettone e il torrone. Ci sono molti altri dolci legati alla tradizione di ogni regione ma questi tre sono i più famosi e diffusi in tutta la penisola italiana.

Il pandoro viene solitamente servito con lo zucchero a velo e ha origini veronesi. Il panettone, invece, è di Milano, ed è un dolce a forma di cupola con canditi, uvetta, frutta secca, gocce di cioccolato e varie creme. Il panettone si è diffuso anche in Argentina, Uruguay, Perù, Brasile e in altre parti dell’America Latina.

Alla fine del cenone della Vigilia Natale e del pranzo di Natale…se esiste una fine, si gioca a tombola (gioco molto simile al bingo) o ad altri giochi in scatola e si guarda un film in famiglia.

Durante questi due giorni si mangia fino a scoppiare (si mangia tantissimo) e si passa del tempo con la famiglia, parenti vicini e lontani.

BABBO NATALE Come nel resto del mondo anche qui il Natale è una festa in cui ci si scambia regali e i

bambini, più o meno grandi, ricevono regali e doni. Ma chi porta i regali nel nostro paese? Esiste la figura di Babbo Natale ed è lui che porta i regali ai bambini, ma non è il solo!

A seconda della zona, vi sono tradizioni diverse, vediamo infatti che oltre a Babbo Natale vi sono figure come San Nicola, Gesù Bambino, Santa Lucia e la Befana che nel periodo delle feste natalizie passano a consegnare i regali ai bambini. Per esempio qui a Brescia, la notte tra il 12 e 13 dicembre Santa Lucia porta i regali ai bambini. Ricordo ancora quando ero piccolo e non vedevo l’ora di svegliarmi la mattina del 13 per scartare i regali e mangiare i dolci che mi portava Santa Lucia.

Babbo Natale porta i regali nella notte tra il 24 e il 25 dicembre, mentre San Nicola tra il 5 e il 6 dicembre.

Il 6 gennaio, giorno dell’Epifania, nel quale, secondo la tradizione cristiana, si ricorda l’arrivo dei Re Magi, che portavano doni a Gesù Bambino, è la Befana a portare i doni ai bambini che lasciano una calza appesa al camino. La tradizione dice che i bambini che non hanno fatto i bravi durante l’anno riceveranno del carbone invece dei dolci e dei regali.

PRESEPE Altro simbolo del Natale è il presepe o presepio, ossia la rappresentazione della nascita di Gesù. Il presepe è costituito da Gesù, Giuseppe, Maria, il bue e l’asinello. Ma se questi sono i personaggi che troverete in tutti i presepi, essi saranno spesso accompagnati da altri personaggi che contribuiranno a creare una storia intorno alla Natività di Gesù.

In Italia questa tradizione è molto sentita e in ogni zona ci sono dei presepi con caratteristiche e personaggi diversi. In alcune città o paesi vi sono delle gare per premiare il presepe più bello.

Una delle vie più famose in Italia in tema di presepi è la Via San Gregorio Armeno a Napoli, che è definita la via dei presepi, qui infatti si trovano innumerevoli botteghe artigiane dedicate alla costruzione dei presepi e delle loro statuine.

MERCATINI DI NATALE Molte città italiane durante il periodo natalizio ospitano i mercatini di Natale. Queste piccole casette di legno illuminate che si trasformano in piccoli negozi di cibi, bevande, vestiti, piccoli regali a tema natalizio e tanto altro. I mercatini di natale popolano le strade delle città italiane e le rendono sempre più luminose e piene di gente.

Fra i mercatini di Natale più belli e popolari d’Italia, ci sono quelli di Bolzano, Trento, Grazzano Visconti, Verona, Firenze, Candelara e Roma. Ci sono molte tradizioni e usanze che ancora al giorno d’oggi rispettiamo, in questo articolo ho cercato di raggruppare le più comuni e famose. Approfitto per farvi gli auguri di buone feste e di buon Natale da parte mia.

Perché la santa nell’iconografia è spesso rappresentata con gli occhi in mano o poggiati su un vassoio? Questo probabilmente si deve al suo nome, che deriva dal latino lux, «luce». Lucia è considerata la protettrice della vista, degli occhi e degli oculisti. Si

Italian American Cultural Society narra che le furono strappati gli occhi o addirittura che lei stessa se li fosse strappati per non cedere alle lusinghe del peccato.

Il 13 dicembre, il giorno più corto dell’anno, è festa in molte città.Santa Lucia viene festeggiata in molti Paesi del Nord Europa, tra i quali Russia, Polonia, Finlandia e Danimarca. In Svezia, ad esempio, una ragazza viene fatta vestire di bianco, con in testa una corona di candele accese, e viene portata in processione con altre ragazze vestite di bianco e uomini vestiti da elfi, donan-

do dolci ai passanti. Anche in alcuni centri dell’Italia settentrionale i bambini scrivono alla donna una lettera, una settimana prima del 13 dicembre, elencando i doni che vorrebbero ricevere a santa Lucia e non alla Vigilia (in altre regioni, i regali arrivano la notte tra il 5 e il 6 dicembre, e a portarli è san Nicola). Una seconda tradizione prevede che la sera del 12 dicembre i bambini preparino dell’acqua per Lucia e del fieno per l’asinello con il quale la santa si sposta per consegnare i doni.

Quante volte i nostri genitori ci avranno detto, o abbiamo sentito dire dalle nostre nonne questo detto: ” Natale con i tuoi Pasqua con chi vuoi “. Ma cosa vuol dire questo proverbio molto famoso, e qual è la sua origine?

Il detto ” Natale con i tuoi Pasqua con chi vuoi “ sembra non avere origini religiose, ma più che altro sociali, e anche abbastanza datate. Ci sono varie ipotesi, comunque, sulla sua nascita.

Innanzitutto, dobbiamo calarci in contesto, quello dello scorso millennio, dove questo modo di dire faceva parte di una realtà sociale, risalente a quelle dei nostri nonni, e in cui il concetto di “famiglia” la faceva da padrone su tutto. La “famiglia” era sacra, soprattutto durante le festività religiose.

I giovani, all’epoca, specialmente le giovani coppie, avrebbero voluto passare il Natale e le altre feste in calendario o casa di lei o di lui, ma invece, l’antica mentalità imponeva di stare con la propria famiglia, e quindi di dividersi.

La notte di Silvestro, o vigilia di Capodanno, corrisponde alla notte tra il 31 dicembre e il 1º gennaio (Capodanno). Essa è celebrata in diversi modi a seconda della nazione. Si chiama così in quanto il 31 dicembre il santo che si festeggia è appunto san Silvestro papa. Il 31 dicembre viene spesso anche erroneamente chiamato Capodanno, pur trattandosi in realtà solo della vigilia di esso.

La notte in Italia In Italia, è tradizione fare la cosiddetta "cena di Capodanno" o "cenone", un abbondante pasto, in cui il piatto tradizionalmente più caratteristico è lo zampone o il cotechino con le lenticchie. In genere si usa fare il "veglione" cioè stare svegli fino a mezzanotte passata, per festeggiare l'arrivo del nuovo anno. Solitamente si trascorre la serata in famiglia, o con gli amici, in piazza, dove si organizzano concerti o feste varie, o in casa.

Si usa, generalmente a partire da 10 secondi prima della mezzanotte, fare il conto alla rovescia fino ad arrivare a zero, dove si augura il buon anno, si brinda stappando lo spumante e guardando o accendendo i fuochi d'artificio. È tradizione anche, quando si fa il conto alla rovescia, tenere in mano, oltre al bicchiere di spumante, anche dell'uva e tre monetine diverse, come portafortuna. Ogni regione italiana possiede tradizioni diverse. in alcune regioni, per esempio, si gioca a tombola o ad alcuni giochi per intrattenersi fino al nuovo anno.

Per le coppie sposate invece, le Feste si dovevano vivere solo con la famiglia del marito, tralasciando così il proprio clan di origine.Ma il tempo passa, e le cose cambiano, o perlomeno si cerca di cambiarle: così, si arrivò a un compromesso che vedeva il Natale come festa intoccabile per la famiglia, mentre la Pasqua poteva essere passata con amici e conoscenti, se non si voleva rimanere necessariamente in famiglia.Un’altra ipotesi sull’origine del proverbio ” Natale con i tuoi Pasqua con chi vuoi “, sarebbe “stagionale” nel senso che a Natale fa molto freddo in genere, e quindi non si è invogliati a spostarsi, per cui si rimane a casa, e quindi in famiglia; mentre la Pasqua, portatrice di primavera e di temperature più miti e tempo migliore inviterebbe ad uscire e a viaggiare, e quindi ad allontanarsi da mamma e papà.

In realtà, alcuni fanno notare che questa espressione del patrimonio di saggezza popolare italiana, avrebbe invece uno sfondo legato alla religione cattolica, visto che all’epoca dei nostri nonni i ritmi e le abitudini di vita erano scandite dai riti religiosi.

Infatti, leggendo il Vangelo si nota che a Natale, Gesù si trova nella casa in cui è nato, con i genitori, la Vergine Maria e San Giuseppe.

Nel periodo di Pasqua invece, i Vangelo raccontano della sua vita pubblica, lontano dalla famiglia di origine: Gesù viaggia e arriva in effetti a Gerusalemme, dove celebra la sua Ultima Cena con i propri discepoli, amici e compagni, e dove vivrà la sua Passione, e non si fa menzione della sua famiglia.Anche voi come tante persone fate “ Natale con i tuoi Pasqua con chi vuoi ” ?

Santo Stefano

Il giorno di Santo Stefano è una festività cristiana celebrata il 26 dicembre dalla Chiesa cattolica e da alcune Chiese protestanti, mentre la Chiesa ortodossa lo celebra il 27 dicembre. In questo giorno si ricorda Stefano protomartire, ovvero il primo martire del cristianesimo secondo il Nuovo Testamento. Intorno all'anno 36 d.C. fu accusato di blasfemia dal sinedrio e condannato alla lapidazione.

Uno dei suoi principali inquisitori fu Saulo di Tarso, che poi diventerà San Paolo. Espressione del mese → DURARE DA NATALE A SANTO STEFANO: durare pochissimo, proprio come il lasso di tempo che intercorre tra questi due giorni, ossia il 25 e il 26 dicembre (ad esempio: Queste scarpe sono state fatte malissimo! Non sono durate da Natale a Santo Stefano!)

Crispelle calabresi dolci e salate Le crispelle calabresi, “crispeddi chi lici”, come vengono chiamate a Reggio Calabria, sono una specialità della cucina reggina, e anche di altre città ma prendono nomi diversi come: pettole , zeppole, ecc.

Una ricetta base preparata con semplici ingredienti come farina, acqua, sale, lievito e poi arricchita di filetti di alici, pomodori secchi, baccalà ammollato, per queste frittelle davvero golose, da fare anche in versione dolce ricoperti di zucchero.

La tradizione vuole che si preparino il giorno dell’Immacolata e la Vigilia di Natale, anche se ormai si mangiano tutto l’anno, farcite con diversi ingredienti alcuni mettono anche la ricotta!

Oggi vi propongo le mie versioni: quella dolce con lo zucchero semolato da farcire anche con nutella o cosparse di miele e quelle salata con alici, pomodori secchi e baccalà! Prova anche crispelle con pomodori secchi e nduja.

Procedimento per le crispelle calabrese.

Sciogliete il lievito nell’acqua tiepida, MAI calda, poi aggiungete un pizzico di zucchero e la farina, lavorate un pò l’impasto e per ultimo aggiungete il sale, continuate a lavorare energicamente, meglio con una planetaria con la frusta K, per almeno 10 minuti, iniziate gradualmente con velocità 3, poi aumentate pian piano fino ad arrivare a 5, qualche colpetto anche a velocità 6/7 e poi continuate a lavorare a velocità 3.

E’ necessario che l’impasto si lavori tanto, si riscaldi e faccia delle bollicine, ad occhio aggiungete più acqua o farina se serve, dipende sempre dall’umidità e dalle farine diverse utilizzate, a volte assorbono di più e si deve aggiungere più acqua.

L’impasto deve risultare morbido, elastico e colloso, tenete conto che dopo la lievitazione prenderemo l’impasto con due cucchiai.

Coprite e lasciate riposare fino quando l’impasto non raddoppi di volume (2 ore circa) Preparate gli ingredienti che vi servono per la frittura delle crispelle, lo zucchero semolato per la prima frittura, le alici salate che vanno pulite, lavate e asciugate, i pomodori secchi tagliati a pezzettini e anche il baccalà a piccoli pezzetti. A piacere potete usare anche altri ingredienti diversi come cavolfiore lesso.

Quando l’impasto è ben lievitato procedete per la prima frittura che va fatta prima al semplice impasto per le frittelle dolci con lo zucchero.

Mettete abbondante olio in una padella capiente appena l’olio è caldo friggete le prime crispelle da fare dolci. Aggiungete nell’olio caldo cucchiaiate d’impasto, aiutandovi con due cucchiai, quando le crispelle iniziano a gonfiarsi girate e rigirate nell’olio caldo fino a quando non sono ben cotte e dal colore dorato. Sgocciolate su carta assorbente e cospargete subito da calde lo zucchero semolato o a velo. Potete servirle così oppure farcirle con nutella, crema di ricotta o altro, buone cosparse anche con del miele.

Crispelle calabresi dolci e salate Continuate la frittura con quelle salate, aggiungete all’impasto i pezzetti di baccalà, friggete sempre a cucchiaiate nell’olio caldo e sgocciolate quando sono ben cotte, continuate il rimanente impasto con i pomodori secchi e per ultimo le alici, se l’olio è sporco lavate, pulite la padella e versate dell’altro pulito.

Con questo impasto vengono pochi pezzi per ogni gusto diverso, per più porzioni raddoppiate le dosi dell’impasto.

Si ricorda che SPID è il sistema di autenticazione che permette a cittadini ed imprese di accedere con un'identità digitale unica ai servizi online della Pubblica Amministrazione e dei privati aderenti. L'identità SPID è costituita da credenziali che vengono rilasciate all'utente dai Gestori di Identità Digitale ("Identity Provider" - IdP) accreditati dall'Agenzia per l'Italia Digitale (AgID).

A seguito del predetto Decreto ed a partire dalla data del 28.02.2021 le Pubbliche Amministrazioni non potranno rilasciare altre credenziali e quelle in vigore non potranno essere utilizzate dagli utenti oltre il 30 settembre 2021.

Il Sistema Pubblico d’Identità Digitale (SPID) – insieme alla carta di identità elettronica si va così affermando come principale strumento di identificazione online per il cittadino e per le imprese nei rapporti con la Pubblica Amministrazione.

Il MAECI ha da tempo aderito alla piattaforma SPID, prevedendo l’accesso con le relative credenziali al portale “Fast it” dei servizi consolari. In ragione della scarsa diffusione di SPID presso gli italiani all’estero, resta tuttora possibile l’accesso al portale tramite compilazione di un formulario di registrazione al cui esito vengono generate apposite credenziali.

Si segnala inoltre che altre Pubbliche Amministrazioni stanno anticipando i tempi di accesso ai relativi portali unicamente con credenziali di accesso ai servizi on line del proprio sito istituzionale (il c.d. “Pin”), anche se chi è attualmente in possesso delle credenziali “Pin” potrà continuare ad usarle per una fase transitoria.

Si raccomanda, pertanto, l’adozione delle credenziali SPID che possono essere richieste agli Identity Provider abilitati dai cittadini italiani maggiorenni purché’ dotati di un documento di identità e di un codice fiscale italiani in corso di validità, nonché’ di un indirizzo di posta elettronica ed un numero di cellulare. Il rilascio delle credenziali è gratuito, salvo che per alcune modalità di riconoscimento, che possono essere a pagamento. L’ottenimento delle credenziali SPID è infatti subordinato ad un processo di riconoscimento del richiedente da parte dell’Identity Provider, che può avvenire di persona presso gli sportelli abilitati sul territorio italiano, online tramite registrazione con carta CNS, Carta di Identità Elettronica o Passaporto biometrico, o tramite videochiamata.

Si attira l’attenzione sul fatto che alcuni Identity Provider prevedono forme di riconoscimento orientate a facilitare il rilascio delle credenziali SPID agli italiani residenti all’estero: nello specifico, “Sielte” prevede il riconoscimento del richiedente de visu via webcam gratuitamente, e “Poste Italiane” prevede il rilascio delle credenziali SPID senza riconoscimento de visu, qualora il richiedente scarichi la relativa applicazione e avvicini allo smartphone (purché dotato della necessaria tecnologia) il proprio passaporto biometrico.

A breve gli Identity Provider adotteranno aggiuntive modalità di attribuzione delle credenziali SPID. Si ringrazia per la collaborazione e per la più ampia e urgente diffusione dell’avviso presso la collettività italiana.
