SANDRA TORNBERG 2016 has been an exciting year at the IACS. It was our most profitable year in recent history, thanks to the success of our banquet facility under the leadership of Chef and General Manager Alex Lozovoj. This great performance has allowed us to make several much-needed facility improvements, including new carpeting in our banquet halls, tile in our foyer, repairs to our parking lot, and enhancements to our outdoor areas. From a cultural standpoint, we supported the Bellini Opera by hosting two wonderful concerts at the IACS, welcomed author Umberto Mucci from Rome
who presented his book We the Italians, hosted singer Roberto Polisano and comedian Sasa’ Salvaggio from Italy, supported Italian Language Week and Italian Cuisine Week in the World, welcomed Flavia Cosolo and the Coro del Gruppo Costumi Tradizionali Bisiachi del Friuli Venezia Giulia who entertained us and taught us about the history of Tiramesu, hosted three regional Italian dinners, welcomed the director of the DIA Dr. Salvador Salort-Pons, hosted fundraisers for the memorial in Adrian to honor the Italian immigrants killed in the 1901 train wreck and the victims of the recent earthquakes in central Italy, showcased the display on immigration presented by Comites, and put on a hugely successful Festa Italiana.
grateful to all of you for your encouragement as we continue to work toward making the IACS a place that we can all be proud of. Together with the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and our staff, I wish all of you Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

As president I have stressed the importance of these types of cultural activities that help us to fulfill our mission as a cultural society. In addition, they help us to attract guests and potentially new members who are interested in learning about our culture. Of course none of our success would be possible without the support of our wonderful members. The Executive Committee, Board of Directors and I are
