It’s May, which means it’s not only an open door to the riding season for many upper-tier motorcyclists, it’s also Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month — which gets some attention in our VMD Preview-themed May edition! There are discussions about riding technique and strategy spread throughout the issue, along with an in-depth piece on Gear Basics. The big splash, however, is the cover story on 1993 World Champ and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Kevin Schwantz, who was recently reunited (for good!) with his first-ever AMA Superbike — the #289 Yoshimura-Suzuki GS700 he campaigned (and won on!) during the 1985 season, he first as a pro. It’s a great read, so be sure to check it out. And hey…be careful out there!
