We are proud to partner with Mid-Ohio and the AMA to celebrate some of the world’s top riders and their teams as they showcase all the attributes of our pumps and motors, which deliver power, speed, precision and endurance.
We hope you will enjoy the sights, sounds and heart-pounding vibrations of pure horsepower from some of the greatest motorcycles and riders of all time. With Permco, it’s not just a race. It’s personal. Welcome to the 2025 Permco AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days.

ust as AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days celebrates the retro roots of American motorcycling, it follows that the person chosen to be Grand Marshal have a deep connection to the sport … and 1982 500cc World Motocross Champion and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Brad Lackey fits the bill perfectly.
Lackey’s roots run deep indeed. After growing up riding and racing in the Bay Area, and then scoring a high finish in an Inter-AM event in the
While there, Lackey competed in a half-dozen 250cc GPs — and from that point on was hooked on the international scene, and the opportunity to race against the world’s best.
Lackey spent the vast majority of the following decade chasing a 500cc World Championship, with occasional appearances in the U.S. for AMA

“I’ve been to VMD a few times, and it’s always been a lot of fun,” Lackey said. “But this year, with the AMA celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Suzuki RM series of motocrossers, which formed the basis of the RN500 works bike I won the 1982 500cc World Championship on, it’s going to be extra special — especially having my ’82 championship bike on display. I’m honored to be the Grand Marshal for this year’s VMD celebration, and I’m excited to hang out with all the vintage enthusiasts.”

KING’S CUP/GOLDEN CUP
The King’s Cup and Golden Cup are brand new additions to the vintage racing schedule at AMA VMD in 2025, bringing a different flare to the motocross track at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. With competition extending to the air-cooled bikes from the glory days of AMA Hall of Famer Broc Glover’s racing career, these top-flight races will crown a pair of riders as the fastest and most daring motocross racers at VMD.
The Golden Cup event features aircooled, non-linkage and non-disc-braked 125cc two-stroke machinery from the latter 1970s and recalls the mechanical simplicity of those early AMA 125cc National Championship years.
The single-moto Golden Cup race will run on Saturday, July 26, at 2 p.m.
The King’s Cup event will feature air-cooled, two-stroke open-classers from the 1970s and ’80s that celebrate the glory years of 500cc AMA National Championship and 500cc World Championship competition.
The single-moto King’s Cup race will run on Sunday, July 27, at 2 p.m.
*Riders for these one-moto Cup races should be Expert- or Intermediateclassified, and each Cup race will be divided into two divisions — under 40 years of age and over 40.*
