As my project developed, I realised that the entire journey revolved around spiritual idiologies such as reincarnation, past lives, and even spirit guides.

This was a new focus for me.

I am so gratetful that this project has allowed me to share what I now understand to be my personal views surrounding profound concepts, including life and death itself. The overall message that I hope to convey through my project surrounds curiosity. I hope that my project encourages you to uncover something about your own dream world.

Perhaps understanding my personal journey, will allow you to ask the questions about your own life, to uncover something spiritual about your current life, or perhaps a life before?

The combination of a book and a duvet set, is a product combination that I had never come across before. I found this strange, because it is very common for people of all ages to read before bed...

This is where the inspiration came from.

Several people engage with their duvets and a book at the same time, why not create a product that combines them?

Both the book and the bedding revolves around dreams specifically, which further solidifies the concept. I thought that the final piece would be unique, and in my opinion I have achieved this.

‘Chasing Dreams’ consists of 50 written pages. In my opinion, this is a perfect length. This is because I wanted the book to last more than one sitting. The duvet set can be washed and re-used several times; I didn’t want the book to be too much of a ‘quick read’. In order for the book to be understood, and for the information to solidify in the readers mind, I created more visual based pages which breaks up some of the more heavy hitting content.

The bedding and book will be sold together as a set. I wanted the end result of my project to be more than ‘just a duvet’; I wanted to convey the entire journey that I witnessed, to form the final piece. The addition of the book makes this possible. The investigation into reincarnation and spiritual idiologies was more than just a university project.

The personal opinions and thought processes that were uncovered throughout this project had a profound impact on me. It was important to me that I managed to encourage the reader/consumer to engage in similar investigations. The purpose of this, was for the reader to form their own opinions around spiritual concepts that they may have had little information about before purchasing the duvet and book set.

The products will be packaged in a white cardboard box. This is due to the recyclability of cardboard. I plan for the typography to be printed using soy based inks which is another ethical choice for the packaging.

I plan to have the design re-printed and mass produced in a variety of different bedding sizes to allow the product to be more inclusive.

After so many hours of sewing, It became possible to see several months worth of dream imagery come together. To me, each illustration that forms the textile collage makes perfect sense... but for you, the only way for the picture to become clearer, is to delve into the accompanying dream book.

You don’t have to of course, you may simply enjoy the randomness of the sewn patteren, thats fine too.

However, I do encourage you to give it a read, it might unleash your curiosity; you might discover aspects about your past, present and future that you didn’t even know was possible.

As a whole, I am really happy with the entire project. The embroidered bed set must have taken over 60 hours to complete, so it felt like a huge achievement when it was finally complete!

I also feel as though I have managed to develop some skills surrounding graphic design which I didn’t have before. I am really looking forward to applying these skills to future projects. I feel as though my final piece has never been seen before and I am really proud of what I have achieved.
