ARE WE REALLY FREE? By Seth Halpern & Bob Ouzts The United States of America means many things to many people. Yet, most would likely say that it culminates in one word- “Freedom”. Through many wars, America has lost thousands of people fighting for that very principle. Our nation sought to protect the freedom of our nation and its people and there was a very high cost. Often the younger generations know little of the sacrifice of their ancestors. We have been and I would contend to say that we are still the most “blessed” nation. God is not honored by much of what we do as a nation but He has still given us freedoms that we don’t deserve. Certainly there is the abundant freedom of choice and of “stuff”. When you can walk into a 7-11 and find a dozen or more flavors of soda and Slurpee’s, you know there is a glut of freedom! Sure, this kind of freedom may not seem important, but think about other nations where there is no choice of bread (maybe even NO bread) and you will quickly see that we are blessed beyond what we deserve. More importantly, Americans still have freedom of speech and freedom of religion. We are finding ourselves having to fight for some of these rights that our forefathers gave us. Stories of these

rights being violated have become more common in recent years. We are still free to protest, boycott, and air our grievances about these issues. That in and of itself is freedom. Thanks to the civil war and the Emancipation Proclamation, we no longer have slavery in this nation. We are free men and women. Yet, even until recent decades, segregation has separated the races and racial tension is still quite active in many parts of our country. Many

“We are finding ourselves having to fight for some of these rights that our forefathers gave us” in debt are seeking financial freedom so they are not bound or “enslaved” by debt. So what IS Freedom? It must be deeper than all that. And it is. Is the person battling addiction, truly free? Is the embittered, angry man experiencing freedom or rather in bondage to a more cruel master? We are told in scripture that we were once in bondage to sin. As the old chorus states “Satan had me bound, but Jesus set me free”, many of us have

been freed by their experience with the cross of Christ. It is at the cross that we find not only forgiveness of our wretched sin by a just and holy God, but also we are given the power OVER the sins that so easily hinder us. The Bible states that we all have sin and if we say we have no sin, we are liars (1John 1:8). Yet, the sacrifice of Christ has “done away with” the penalty of our sin and more! He has given us the Holy Spirit to combat those sins that continue to keep us in bondage. Is it addiction? Is it lust? Is it selfish or pride? Is it bitterness and resentment? Whatever it is and whatever you struggle with, there is an answer. THE ANSWER is in Christ! He has given us the victory of the bondage of sin. We no longer have to be shackled to those issues that torment us and separate us from God and others. We can begin a process of restoration and wholeness while living in our “broken” bodies in our soul sick world. So often we hear that our American Freedom wasn’t free; neither was the cost that Jesus paid for our sins. Like a soldier being obedient to his commanding officer, Jesus willingly carried out his

INSPIRATION My Sister is a Nag and She Changed My Life Part 2 by Jan Duke

I went to Israel as a tourist, and I came back as a Zionist. This is the second part of my story and observations that changed my life. Although I was born again at age 7, my life has not always been passionate about God. Lived right, but not as dedicated as I should have been. I just didn’t have the fire I saw in others, in fact, my sister’s zeal was sometimes irritating! The first trip to Israel in June of 2011 lit the flame, but the return trip in March 2012 set the forest on fire. No longer can I keep silent, and the best way, it seems, to spread the flame, is to write. Continuing from the April Ambassador, 2012 The Jewish family, especially observant Jews, is radically different from Americans. Their average family has 4-7 children, who are celebrated and adored, as was evidenced by fathers pushing strollers, walking hand in hand, laughing with the kids, changing diapers, feeding them, etc. There was obviously a great deal of joy within the family, even between the kids of all ages, including teens, who were playing, hugging, laughing etc., with each other. I don’t often see that genuine love within the family here in the U.S. Truthfully, I was shocked! In fact, my experiences while working for the Yuba City Police Department, showed me the opposite view of parents and children. Parents and teens or even younger aged children were often at war with each other. It was not unusual for a parent to call and demand that an officer come pick up their “kid” and throw him in juvenile hall. The anger and frustrations were overwhelming. The religious life of Jewish people is not separate from everyday living. Kosher foods and cooking are the norm and even hotels serve those meals. As a child I never used pepper, so my taste buds are accustomed to pretty bland food. In Israel, everything is pretty highly seasoned

The Ambassador

with curry, turmeric, and a variety of unidentified spices. Even the vegetables and salads received careful evaluation before tasting them. No amount of effort made the spicy foods palatable to my taste buds! I saw one McDonalds and had to have a burger! Never did a Mickey D’s taste so good! The business world stops at sundown on Friday (Shabbat or Sabbath) and does not resume until sundown on Saturday. Those hours in between are family time, and no phones, TV, cooking, working or non-family activities go on. They celebrate the traditions of the arrival of Shabbat, as a bride coming to a wedding, and the families read the Bible together, retell the Biblical stories, bless the bread and food, and focus on God and Family. Americans can’t even eat dinner together at a common table and discuss the day’s events without the TV, cell phone interruptions and scurrying off to a sport practice, dance class, or another important meeting. The glue of family and marriage breaks down quickly without the cohesive commitment of family time. Is there any wonder that our divorce rate is skyrocketing, that teenagers are sullen and angry and everyone is irritated? So many parents have no idea how to communicate with their kids and somewhere along the way, they have lost closeness and control. The blessing of being a closely knit family does not seem to be the American norm, so there is much for us to glean from the Jewish approach. Until next month, Shalom! May your life be whole, complete, unbroken in any way. May peace and prosperity be yours through the blessings of God. • Watch for my next book, “7 Keys to Heavenly Wealth on Earth: Unlocking The Secrets to Business and Personal Prosperity” Jan Duke is a ReMax Gold real estate agent. Just Right I am not who I was I am not who I will be I am just right Right in the middle of God’s plan for me I don’t need to see the end I don’t need to know the plan I just need to take a step Holding firm to Jesus’ hand He has a greater vision A greater plan for my life Than allowing me to escape the pains The turmoil, trouble and strife He will lead me through One valley and mountain peak at a time In Him I can securely place my trust To him alone my life I bind I surrender to His will I surrender to His way For me there is no other place Right by His side I will stay April James

The Hand, The Arm, And The Favor By Paula McBride

The title of the blog captured my attention: What if George Washington had never been born? I’d already read that America’s revolutionary victory over the British army could be explained logically rather than miraculously, but here was an interesting twist. Would the eager patriots have been victorious if someone else had led the new nation? Who would it have been? Artemas Ward had health issues. Benedict Arnold was an excellent leader, but he had trouble with loyalty. Nathanael Greene and Henry Knox didn’t have the experience they had in later years. Horatio Gates was an ambitious, conniving opportunist who would have seized a role as dictator. Yet George Washington was born, Brian Tubbs blogged, and it’s difficult to imagine who else could’ve provided the leadership that brought America through its birth and baby steps. Washington excelled in areas that mattered most. His character was unimpeachable, so his authority could be trusted. He was brave, earning the respect of his men and inspiring them to similar acts of courage. He was a superb strategist. Even after winning the war, he pacified angry soldiers who were demanding their pay. He refused to become a dictator or king and helped lay the foundation of a government by and for the people. Is it by chance that Washington lived during that period of history? As believers, we know that “the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes” (Daniel 4:17 and 32). The psalmist, reflecting on the history of Israel, wrote, “It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your face, for You favored them” (Psalm 44:3). God set in motion America’s leadership and birth as a republic. God has favored our nation, and He will favor us as we face our personal

INSPIRATION “But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.” Galatians 3:22 (NLT) “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news” Isaiah 52:7 Can you help bring “Good News” to our community? battles. He fights for us using the gentle weapons of Psalm 44. God’s right hand represents His trustworthy authority. Satan has to flee when God raises His right hand. God’s arm represents His strength, power, and help. His arm is not short that it cannot save. The light of God’s face represents His presence and the nobility of His character. We stand before Him confident that His purposes for us are good. All this majesty is wrapped in love. Other translations use the word favor or kindness. The image is of a grace-giver who delights to pour out lavish benefits. No one should ever fight a battle alone. Whether national or personal, we need to reach out for God’s right hand. With a contrite heart, we need to accept the help that comes from His arm, and revel in the acceptance that lights up His face. God’s favor is grace greater than our sins. As we celebrate America’s birthday and all that has made her great, let’s remember that God is sovereign in history, and He’s sovereign in the lives of you and me.

part to work away my sin or working in hopes of attaining salvation.. Waking up in the morning and walking in liberty with Jesus frees me from the power of sin. His Glorious grace sets us free from effort and performance allowing me to rest in the finished payment that was made on the Cross. The love that we experience through Christ compels us and fills the voids that were previously medicated with sin. His cross becomes my cross where our flesh is crucified with him. My sinful nature now begins the sanctification process where I experience more and more freedom from Habitual sins. We are free to confess and grow in community with other redeemed sinners. We need not wait to the 4th of July to celebrate this freedom For it is not “independence” but rather “dependence” on the Savior that frees me. We will either serve Sin or we will serve Christ. I celebrate with a life of Worship as I awake each day with the Holy Spirit reminding me daily of the freedom that I have in Christ to now love like he Loves, To serve like He serves, and to Forgive like He forgives. My freedom becomes contagious and the Love of Christ is multiplied in my community. An everlasting joy and appreciation for Jesus fills my heart and soul and stretches into eternity where fireworks are displayed forever.

continued from cover instructions from the Father to “Drink the Cup”. This cup brought on the Wrath of God and Jesus became the substitute for my sin. Upon meditation of this event, the love of Christ fills me and frees me from the stronghold of sin. I am now made alive to Christ and dead to sin. In order for me to receive the full measure of this freedom, I must come to the conclusion that I am not free apart from Christ. I must agree with the grotesqueness of sin and how it is literally offensive to the Holy God. I must also believe that God is able to this work in me even though I have never experienced it. This understanding combined with the Holy Spirit’s power allows me to renounce my allegiance to sin and begin my journey walking in liberty with Jesus. He is so willing to free me from this prison of self. My soul cries out for freedom and “where the spirit of the Lord is there truly is Liberty”(2 Cor 3:17). This Liberty is dynamic and has more meaning than meets the eye. The Greek word for Freedom is eleutheria which means: to omit things having no relationship to salvation. This freedom is also applied to any effort required on my

Family Fun At Collins Lake! by Seth Halpern

When you first turn into the Collin’s Lake Recreational Area off of Marysville Road in the Yuba County foothills, you might be surprised to find how large an area it truly is. The humble signage leading to the entrance might give you the idea to pass it and continue on to Brownsville or other parts north. You would miss out on one of the “jewels” of the Yuba-Sutter area if you did. Lincoln and Ann Young have managed the area for 17 years (although his family has been running it for 40 years)and have seen thousands of families come from all over northern California to enjoy a wonderful day of water activities from swimming to fishing to boating and more. The beach is a public area where you can work on your tan or take a dip in the water. With ocean water from the coast several hours away, Collin’s Lake offers a local alternative, albeit without the surf. On the contrary, the placid calm lake set against the green forest background affords a usually picture-perfect serenity to compliment a time of prayer, reflection and peace. For the more adventurous type, there is ample space in the 1600 acre lake to bring your water skis, boats or rent a 15 person one or two-deck party boat for a

with a special Trophy Trout stocking program each spring and each autumn. It is California’s largest private trout stocking program north of Sacramento.  It is planted weekly with 2 to 6 plants of trout during the spring months, with the larger trophy trout typically between 3 to 6 pounds and some weighing over 10 pounds.  They are also stocked each winter with bass, crappie and sunfish. If you’re not in a hurry, you could plan on staying for a few days and set up camp in one of their nearly 200 camp sites or opt for the convenience of one of their 7 deluxe cabins or 4 RV rentals. We never forget to stop in at the general store (which was recently expanded to twice the size) that greets everyone near the entrance to the park. Refill your kerosene, buy some snacks or (my personal favorite) order up a double scoop ice cream cone (which is really more like a quadruple scoop!) You can also order a specialty coffee at the new espresso bar and relax on the new 1700 sq. ft. deck while taking in the fresh mountain air! The best part of Collin’s Lake beyond the fun, relaxation, and ability to disconnect from town and enjoy God’s natural creation, is the staff led by the Young’s. Solid longtime

and supported so they can enjoy their vacations and build family bonds. We also want to create a work environment that my employees know they are cared for and have a place they can grow”. Family is the heart of their business. “Being a family run business, I put more emphasis on family harmony than what’s most profitable for the business. I also truly take pride in the fact that over 40 years, many camper’s families are now on their 3rd generation making Collins Lake a destination for family campouts. What I have seen over the years is how this has helped bond families tightly together and how the adults speak fondly of their family campouts at Collins Lake when they were kids. That is the heart of my prayers for our business.. That the families staying here are safe and their family bonds strengthen while here.

The same prayer goes to my family and employees working at the lake, too.” They have been sponsors of The Ambassador Newspaper for several years and support other Christian and community activities. Last year was a record breaking year for them and we pray that this year would be prosperous for them as well. They make a great effort to keep the family friendly atmosphere so that families, Christian or non-believers can have a great day on the water! Whether you want to relax for the day, have a picnic with family and friends or give yourself a weeklong retreat from the stress and demands of life, Collin’s Lake provides that right here in our own Yuba-Sutter backyard! RESOURCES Christian Journalist Reveals Power Of Teavangelicals in Election 2012

David Brody Only Reporter to Uncover What It Would Take for Romney to Win Powerful Teavangelical Vote Mitt Romney may just be the best candidate to fix America’s broken economy but that doesn’t mean all conservatives are behind him. In fact, he has yet to win over Tea Partiers, the most opinionated of all conservatives. In his new book, THE TEAVANGELICALS, David Brody explores the growing influence of the Tea Party-- whose power has already been shown in the defeat of long-time influential Republican senator, Richard Lugar--and the major impact the group is poised to have on the 2012 election. In THE TEAVANGELICALS, Brody doesn’t just explore the emergence of the Tea Party as a powerful voting bloc. He unravels their path to power and their roots as a group where half of participants call themselves evangelical Christians. THE TEAVANGELICALS focuses on Tea Party influence and Romney’s questionable ability to win Tea Party votes and secure the nomination. As a Christian journalist, Brody has a unique perspective to focus on whether evangelicals will mobilize or fail to get excited about Romney and how the newfound Teavangelical power and influence will fundamentally change the political landscape. THE TEAVANGELICALS hits stores just as the Republican convention

will be seizing the headlines and Brody is the only journalist uniquely qualified to talk about: • Romney’s strategy for winning the crucial evangelical vote. • How some conservatives are having a hard time supporting Romney and if that means the Republican convention will be chaos. • If a strong Teavangelical running mate would be a game changer. • How Tea Partiers and evangelical Christians could fundamentally change the political landscape of America in 2012. • How evangelicals, who have been flocking to the Tea Party, care about much more than social issues like abortion and gay marriage. • Who is leading the Teavangelical charge--Brody’s book has powerful interviews with top Teavangelicals like Sarah Palin, Dick Armey, Ralph Reed, Glenn Beck, Michele Bachmann, Tony Perkins, and Jim DeMint. Many news organizations don’t feel they have the experience to delve into the religious aspect of this election. As chief political correspondent for the Christian Broadcast Network and the 700 Club, Brody’s unique political and religious insight is invaluable.

10 Lame Excuses For Not Sharing Your Faith By Greg Stier | Christian Post Guest Columnist 1. “It’s the pastor’s job, not mine.” (According to Ephesians 4:11,12 his job is to equip you to do the work.) 2. “I don’t know what to say.” (There are plenty of resources out there to help you!) 3. “I just live the gospel with my life.” (Good, now open your mouth and declare the good news!) 4. “I’m waiting for the perfect timing.” (There’s no such thing!) 5. “I don’t have the gift of evangelism.” (Well, I don’t have the gift of mercy but I still should show mercy!) 6. “They could reject me.” (No, Jesus said they will reject you…at times anyway.” 7. “I have bad breath.” (Testamints!) 8. “I don’t know how to bring it up.” (How about just ask, “What are your spiritual beliefs?”)

9. “I’m terrified.” (So am I. So was Paul! Let’s ask God for boldness like he did! Ephesians 6:19) 10. “They may ask me a question I don’t have the answer to.” (You don’t have to know all the answers. You just need to introduce them to the One who does!) Greg Stier is the President and Founder of Dare 2 Share Ministries in Arvada, Colo., where he works with youth leaders and students, equipping them to be effective in sharing the gospel. It Can Happen Here - Religious Freedom Threatened - By Eric Metaxas Christians are often asked by gay activists why they oppose same-sex “marriage.” “How does our marriage hurt you?” they ask. Well, I can think of one significant way it will hurt us: It will destroy religious freedom and free speech rights. The handwriting is on the wall in Canada, which legalized same-sex “marriage” in 2005, in effect completely changing its true meaning. Since then, as Michael Coren notes in National Review Online, “there have been between 200 and 300 proceedings … against critics and opponents of same-sex marriage.” Of course he means legal proceedings. For instance, in Saskatchewan, a homosexual man called a state marriage commissioner, wanting to “marry” his partner. The commissioner, an evangelical Christian, declined to conduct the ceremony for religious reasons. He simply referred the man to another commissioner. But that was not enough for the gay couple. Even though they got their ceremony, they wanted to punish the Christian who had declined to conduct it. The case ended up in the courts. And the result? Those with religious objections to conducting such ceremonies now face the

loss of their jobs. Canadian churches are also under attack. Coren writes that when Fred Henry, the Roman Catholic bishop of Calgary, Alberta, sent a letter to churches explaining traditional Catholic teaching on marriage, he was “charged with a human-rights violation” and “threatened with litigation.” Churches with theological objections to performing same-sex “wedding” ceremonies are being threatened with the loss of their tax-free status. In British Columbia, the Knights of Columbus agreed to rent its building for a wedding reception before finding out that the couple was lesbian. When they did find out, they apologized to the women and agreed to both find an alternative venue and pay the costs for printing new invitations: But that wasn’t good enough. The women prosecuted, and the Human Rights Commission ordered the Knights of Columbus to pay a fine. Of course, the lesbians knew perfectly well what the Catholic Church teaches about marriage, but they sought out a Catholic-owned building, anyway. As Michael Coren puts it, “it’s becoming obvious that Christian people, leaders, and organizations are being targeted, almost

certainly to create legal precedents”— precedents intended to silence and punish anyone who dares to disagree with socalled gay “marriage.” If you think this couldn’t happen here, think again. This year we’ve seen ObamaCare attack the autonomy of Catholic churches by attempting to force them, in violation of Catholic teaching, to pay for contraceptives and abortifacients for church employees. And just last week, a lesbian employee of a Catholic hospital in New York sued the hospital for denying her partner spousal health benefits. This is what we need to tell our neighbors when they ask us, “How does

gay ‘marriage’ hurt us?” It means that those hostile to our beliefs will attempt to bend us to their will to force us to not only accept gay “marriage,” but to condone it as well. This is why I urge you to join the half-million Christians who have signed the Manhattan Declaration. Please sign it yourself by going to You and I must demonstrate love to our gay neighbors, of course, remembering that we are ultimately engaged in spiritual warfare. But we should boldly stand up when our rights as citizens and the demands of our conscience are threatened.

COMMUNITY Olivehurst Steps Up For Jesus! Christians Pray & Walk Through Town The sound of two silver trumpets was heard at the levee at the corner of Sycamore and Riverside in Olivehurst on the morning of Saturday, June 9th. Olivehurst was “Stepping Up for Jesus.” According to Numbers 10:12, the sounding of the trumpets is for the calling of the congregation. Thirty people, ranging in age from 8 to 60+, representing 11 different churches, responded to the trumpet call by gathering to take communion together and to lift up the name of Jesus over the churches, the community, and the congregations in Olivehurst. They came from Olivehurst, Marysville, Yuba City, Live Oak, Sacramento, Fairfield, and American Canyon. In spite of strong winds, they walked and drove two and a half miles through the streets, carrying banners,

flags, shofars, and playing worship music in their cars. They lifted up the name of Jesus over some of the darkest streets in the region. They passed a murder scene and prayed for the victim’s family and the law enforcement personnel investigating the incident. They anointed the five churches they passed and prayed for souls to be saved. They ministered to area residents who expressed curiosity as they passed. They had a time of fellowship and prayer and personal ministry at the end and many expressed a need for more of these gatherings in their areas. One participant said, “Next time maybe we can walk different streets in Olivehurst.” The results are known only in heaven, but the consensus was a feeling that the Lord had smiled on them. To God be the glory; great things He has done!

Don’t Read This! by Dave Kugelman

Apparently you are not good at following instructions. But since you’ve entered my article, please beware that the following verses may be hazardous to your spiritual well-being, but only if you ignore them. Matthew 6:14-15 “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” I find it fascinating that the entry point to Christianity is forgiveness and yet, I still encounter Christians who feel justified in their unwillingness to forgive. My favorite example is a man who claims know Christ but doesn’t like the fact that someone can get right with God on their death-bed. He said, “If someone asked me on their deathbed for forgiveness, I would say, _ _ _ _ you!” (You can fill in the blank). And I said, “then you will go to hell! That statement may shock you but go back and re-read the verse and decide what it means if God won’t forgive you. (Now before you send me hate mail, we did discuss that God is the ultimate judge, not me, but I told him that it was a dangerous position to take.) Here is the real shocker. His next response was,

“what about once saved always saved?” His comment brings me to the main point of my article. He wants to ignore the clear teaching of Jesus Christ as it pertains to forgiveness and at the same time believe that his salvation is secure. Whether it is the issue of forgiveness or another area of direct disobedience, I encounter Christians all the time (like this man) who justify disobedience yet state emphatically that they are saved because they said the sinners prayer. (a sincere sinner’s prayer will result in a changed life!) If our actions resemble the unsaved world, how effective are we going to be in pointing people to Jesus? The answer is obvious. There are millions of broken confused people who need to discover Jesus and you (and I) may be the only Jesus they ever see. Let’s encourage, challenge and rebuke (if necessary) one another to live like the God we claim to follow! (And yes that includes me too!) David Kugelman is the president of the Christian Business Alliance which meets each Tuesday at noon at various locations. Dave welcomes your questions or comments on this article at

COMMUNITY IF WE BUILD IT… Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you… Matthew 28:19-20 “Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other. Isaiah45:22 “If your gift is serving, devote yourself to serving others. If it is teaching, devote yourself to teaching others.” Romans12:7 Talk about the end of the earth, Patagonia is the southernmost inhabited region of the world, and the Instituto Biblico Patagonico is the only resident evangelical bible school for the region. Now I’m not a professional missionary, I’m a handyman, which is why these verses mean so much to me. I feel God calling me to go and help build this school that has had well over 100 graduates to date. They’re training pastors, missionaries, workers, teachers and evangelists and they

are already sending them out all over Latin America. In particular one student with a plane has started Wings Of Aid in Brazil and others have planted churches. Every summer, workers like me, donate their time to help build this facility. Each team member has to raise the funds for their airline tickets, meals, lodging, plus a donation for the school that will go toward building supplies, like windows, paint, trim, carpet etc. This year we’ll be finishing the library and chapel. We’ll also fix anything that needs repair and possibly do some landscaping too. You’ll find donation information and see photos of previous work at: FrankInArgentina. Of my $4000 goal I have raised $2295. We can’t do this alone. We need partners who will pray and give as God leads. Thank you! Frank Harkins (Editor’s note: Frank is a long time friend of mine from San Jose. He is a strong & committed follower of Christ and your support would be well -invested!)

EDITORIALS “...Discerning Of Spirits...” By Wm. G. “Bill” Eberley

In May, I wrote about why there are problems in our country and they parallel what Ezekiel prophesied to Israel. “-isms” bandied about are accepted as truth. 1 Corinthians 12: 10 identifies one gift of the Spirit as “…discerning of spirits…”. Jesus tells us to “judge righteously” (John 7:24, not self-righteously as in Matthew 7). Yes, The Spirit helps us in “discerning of spirits.” How do we do that? Knowing God’s Word! If we don’t know the truth, we can’t tell the lies! (John 17: 17 “Sanctify them by the truth, Your Word is Truth.”) The secular world can’t and won’t tell the difference. We expect that. But why do so many Christians fail to “discern the spirits”? Because they don’t know what they believe and why they believe it. No other religion accepts Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Redeemer. The Quran records Jesus Christ did not die on the Cross and that God has no son. We DON’T all pray to the same god! Could the same god have sent the same messenger (Gabriel) 600 years apart with contradictory messages? Our country’s principles are attacked by “historical revisionists” (liars per Ezekiel) and free enterprise is challenged by liars. Exodus 20 records (3500 years ago) the God given rights of life and private ownership. In 1849, Karl Marx, The Communist Manifesto wrote “10 commandments” of socialism and Robert Owen’s 3 principles of communism. (The Communist Manifesto, Barnes and Noble, Pg 48) 1) Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes. 2) A heavy progressive or graduated income tax. 3) Abolition of all right of inheritance. 4) Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels

The Ambassador

5) Centralization of credit in the hands of the State by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly. 6) Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hand of the State. 7) Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into cultivation of wasted lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan. 8) Equal liability of all labor. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture. 9) Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable distribution of the population over the country. 10) Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc. etc. (Pg. 412 Pillars of Communism) Three great obstacles seemed to him especially to block the path to social reform: private property, religion, the present form of marriage. The first characteristic of atheist socialistic communism is to do away with God and replace it with government. Then anything goes! True Christians discern the spirit(s) behind lies. Blending the profane and the holy is syncretism, not holiness. Abba Father, help us learn all that your promised Holy Spirit would teach us, to discern the spirits, to beware of false prophets, to know them by their fruits , to endure to the end and help us not fall away from truth . We ask this in the only name by which we can be saved, Jesus Christ, your living Son.

There is a certain smugness among nonbelievers that makes me just want to reach out and slap them. Not really what one might call a Christian reaction but one that, I hope, would snap them out of their delusions of grandeur. You know, the arrogance of intellect and the conviction that they and they alone are in control of their destiny. While it is true they may very well choose their destiny, in truth, it will not be the destiny of their choosing. Most nonbelievers follow the teachings of the prophet, Darwin, believing evolution not only raised them from pond scum to the top of the food chain, but on to a form of self-edifying deity…leaving no need for God. I find it odd that they take pride in an intellect they readily admit evolved by mere chance, coincidence and/or random circumstance. Please know, dear reader, I’m not writing this to mock nonbelievers but to tell them I know from whence they come. I was there…I considered myself a man of great reason…a “free thinker” and a man of intellect. Boy, talk about being self-delusional! Anyway, I thought I had it all figured out and, therefore, in no need of further guidance or enlightenment, whether mine or divine. Not that I was a dyed in the wool atheist, but rather a slightly off color agnostic. Although I sensed the presence of a higher power, my mind would not

accept it as being God. My thinking was securely and secularly rooted in the seen and tangible, my faith was in science. None of that spiritual voodoo, hocus-pocus nonsense for me…nosir-ee! I adhered to the old clichés God is a crutch for the weak-kneed… and The Bible is the Pablum for the feebleminded. Well those really aren’t old clichés, I just kinda made ‘em up, but I think they express the views of many nonbelievers…I know they did for me. But herein lies the rub…herein lies the irony: The very gifts God had given me: reason, intellect, and freewill, I was using to glorify myself. I believed I had somehow created them and earned them. Now, is that arrogance or is that arrogance? You might say I was blinded by my own (perceived) brilliance. So what happened? Did someone reach out and slap me out of myself? No! Many people reached out and touched me. They unlocked my reasoning to consider things beyond the seen and tangible. They freed up my intellect to think of things spiritual. And, they placed my free will under the will of God. So here’s the moral of this story. Don’t let your arrogance blind you to God. Don’t use His gifts to rationalize your unbelief. Don’t let unbelief keep you from His greatest gifts of all… Salvation and eternal life through belief in Christ and the Grace of God.

Tribute to Parents by Maria D. Paras

I remember when I was a child how my mom would cut up an apple and pass a piece around to all of us and we were happy and sharing our toys amongst us all.  I remember when we would go visit friends and family, dad would always take a bag of goodies with our visit. Our mom worked so hard at home cooking, cleaning and meeting our needs. Our dad worked hard in farm labor and it seemed like he was always at work; I am very proud that my parents taught us respect, love for others and dignity. As I walk around in stores, events and gatherings I notice how our basic values are being lost and my heart aches at how we are tolerant of all kinds of behaviors that never would

cross our minds back then. It saddens me to see how our young people keep demanding materialistic things from their parents; parents work hard and diligently to provide for their families. I know for a fact that our kids take for granted all we give them. We must hold onto our beliefs in God, not lose our faith and our Bible. We must stand up for what we believe in our society; we know evil is just lurking all around us and pulling our people into all kinds of addictions. Every day I pray for our families, youth, our communities and that we all have compassion, grace  and continue our passion to love on others and not judge them.

“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.” Galatians 5:13 (NLT) Have a question or a comment? We love to hear from our readers! Please email us at

Delivering the Truth This is our 80th issue and we’ve changed our motto. It is now “Delivering the Truth that sets people free”. I’d like to think that The Ambassador has had a lot to say to our community over the years. We hope most of it was helpful, powerful and significant. We pray that all of it was truth. Truth is why we exist. Even though our motto was different (“The Voice of the Christian Community”) I know that we tried in every way to offer the Truth of scripture in every issue. Now after 79 issues, while we are still committed to offering a voice for Christians in our community, we are making a “declaration” that we will “deliver the truth that sets people free”. I believe we have been doing this but I feel it’s significant to proclaim it as such. We try to be somewhat diverse in our storiesoffering a selection of encouraging pieces, as well as informative reading. We seek to challenge and inspire. We discuss and offer opinions on issues and events in our nation and the world that impact our faith. Often we present local ministry opportunities and local business people. All of it is done for the purpose of delivering the Truth that sets people free! The Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit are the combination that transforms lives. The Ambassador, from its beginning,

Seth Halpern - Editor has sought to reconcile people to God by “delivering the Truth” My cover story (co-written with Bob Ouzts) is not only a July-themed article, but a “ribbon-cutting” of sorts for this vision. We want to deliver the message of hope in Jesus Christ to our community in the marketplace, in the jails, in the medical facilities, and everywhere we can. In fact, we are gearing up to fulfill our motto by literally delivering (in the mail) The Ambassador one neighborhood at a time. We know that many people who NEED the truth will not pick it up in the marketplace, but they will at least look at it when they get it in their mailbox! We need our brothers and sisters in Christ who see the value in this to come alongside and help us to get the message of redemption and true freedom through Jesus Christ into the hands of our community! If you would be willing to help us deliver the truth in any way (such as delivering to businesses, or personal or business sponsorship, etc) please contact me at God bless you for helping deliver the Truth that sets people free!
