by Seth Halpern, Editor My name is Seth. You may be Bob, Juan, Mary or Astrid (or any of a million names). You may even rename yourself, but is that “who you are”? If someone asks you who you are beyond your name do you answer “I’m an American”? or maybe “I’m Mexican-American” or “I’m Punjabi-American”? That just tells me where you are from. What about “I’m a stay at home mom” or “I’m a business owner”, or “I’m a veteran”. Well, that just informs us of what you do or have done. None of that really says Who You Are? More recently, the answer “I’m Republican” or “I’m a Democrat” or maybe being a Trump supporter or opposer would be said to be “defining” (but it may be more “dividing”)

Yes, indeed He does. In fact, Jesus brutal death on the cross was and is an opportunity for any and all individuals in the world to have their sins forgiven and begin a relationship with God. This offer is for anyone and everyone. However, it takes that individual to acknowledge and confess the sins they need forgiveness for and then an act of repentance or turning away from those sins and selfishness in order to follow God’s way (which is found in the Bible). That act (done genuinely

A Smile For Cereal Boy Doesn't Cost You Anything by Christy Boals www.gracefilledpurpose.com Have you ever gone hunting for smiles? It is really fun. All you have to do is catch someone's eye as you pass them and smile! Usually you are rewarded with a smile in return. The worst that happens is the person will just look away. I love the opportunity to brighten someone's day by such a simple act of kindness, and it is totally free. Unfortunately, I can tell by the somewhat frequent startled looks I get, just before a smile in response to mine, that smiles are an unusual occurrence in our world today. It is even better if I have a chance to connect a little more with someone than just a smile. Take cereal boy for instance. I was in the breakfast aisle in Walmart and I saw a young man restocking shelves. The look on his face said his day had been boring at best. I smiled and asked him how it was going. He responded, “It's going.” I mentioned something about cereal and my kids. We talked for two minutes at the most, but when he went back to his boxes of cereal he had a smile on his face. It didn't cost me anything, in fact, I felt cheered up myself. As I was reading to my children recently out of the book of Proverbs in the Bible, I came across this verse: “He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” I looked up the word ‘refresh' and a couple of definitions are actually to cheer or revive. This must be the explanation about

my smile hunting hobby. That is why I feel better, even though I have given something away in the form of a smile. What about you? Would you like to join me in my smile hunting hobby? It would be so awesome if we spread so many smiles that it was no longer surprising to see a stranger smile at you in the grocery store. I know there are a lot of things wrong with the world today, and a smile might seem like such a little thing, how could it be worth it, what difference could it make? To that I say, we have to start somewhere. If we start smiling at people, maybe we will start truly seeing other people. That could lead to finding out

where they are in life, and that could lead to coming alongside them, and that could lead to relationship and that could lead to conversations about Jesus. And Jesus always leads to changed lives. It could all start with a smile! “He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25b “Do not be dismayed by the brokenness in the world. All things break. And all things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world waits in darkness for the light that is you.” L.R. Knost

Of The Humble Sort by Paula McBride The cruise control was set and traffic was light, so my mind began to wander as I headed toward my old home town to meet up with long-time friends. I drifted all the way back to my childhood and reflected on precious friends God has brought into my life over the years. A common thread knit them all together: each of them was of the humble sort. I was unbelievably shy and introverted, so flashy, popular kids scared me to death. In primary school, it was Eleanor, a very quiet girl, a bit developmentally delayed, who opened her heart to me. In middle school, Carol, a sweetheart with terrible eczema opened her heart and her home. As years passed, I stayed in the fringe groups, hanging out with the humble. God worked on my timidity, though, and as an adult, I am more confident of who I am as His child. I have friends on both ends of the social and financial spectrum and have found that God weaves both the wealthy and the needy into the fabric of His kingdom. The common thread is still humility. I have no need to compare myself or my status with my brothers and sisters in Christ;

we are all part of one masterpiece. So, just what is this humility that attracted me to my friends? A dictionary definition might say being of low estate, seeing others higher than themselves. This is different from low self-esteem which focuses on self. Humility focuses on others. Humility is a characteristic of our own Lord Jesus, who “being found in appearance as a man, humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross (Philippians 2:8). Humility is the element in a friendship that fosters connection. You and your friend are on “the same page.” The prophet Amos wrote, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed (Amos 3:3 KJV)? C.S. Lewis wrote, “Friendship is

born at that moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You, too? I thought I was the only one.” Humility gives a person a “Yes Face.” It is said that Thomas Jefferson gave a traveler a ride on his horse across a dangerously swollen river. The traveler, unaware of Jefferson’s status, was asked why he chose to ask that man for such an outrageous favor. The traveler simply said, “Some faces say ‘no’ while on others the word ‘yes’ is written.” Mr. Jefferson had a "yes" face. Biblical humility, as we grow in Christ-likeness is a heart attitude, not just an outward demeanor. It is empty of selfish ambition or vain conceit, as Paul wrote earlier in Philippians 2. “Rather, in humility value other above yourselves” (verse 3). I arrived at my friend’s home, and was glad I had prayed that I would be a blessing to the group as we swam, ate, and talked of those things we have in common. They, in turn, blessed me by “being of the humble sort.” May we be that kind of friend who has a “Yes Face”, the result of humility that attracts others to the best Friend of all, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Humble yourselves, then, under God's mighty hand, so that He will lift you up in His own good time. Leave all your worries with Him, because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7

Rejection ---

by April James www.BeyondTheSilverCoin.org When there is an unfavorable diagnosis it’s surreal. After all, I believe God still heals today. In April, we celebrated the sacrifices Jesus made, Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday. My Bible says that by Jesus’ stripes we were healed. He did it once before but why not, yet, this time? I have experienced personal healing, witnessed others healed, prayed for individuals who received healing, including cancer; so what’s different? It is certainly an age old question but of this one thing I am sure, God’s word is true, He hears our prayers, and does heal. Seth’s (the Ambassador’s editor) March article was on healing; if you missed it - find it. God desires to heal as He desires to save. Psalm 103:2-3 “Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases…” We know not everyone is saved but it doesn’t change the fact that He desires no one be lost; not everyone is healed but it doesn’t change the fact that He desires to heal. There are some things that may remain a mystery in this life. So what to do? That is an enormous question! I can only attempt to offer

thoughts that are not all inclusive and based on where I am and have been when a step-daughter and parents passed; facing each one brings different challenges – as it does now with potentially a spouse. Trust and hope, a great place to start, even in the dark night hold on to them; even if the outcome is not what we may prefer, God promises to always be with us. The thing I have found is I have to let Him into the situation and not hold him at bay or blame him. One scripture tells us to comfort others as we have been comforted, another says He sent the Holy Spirit to give comfort; if we were never going to need comfort, I doubt He would have told us these things. Sometimes his comforting presence is tangible, other times he sends people to us to give comfort, to be strong when we

are not. I find being vulnerable in some situations not easy, in part from being in a leadership role or when others need encouragement; I think, but not that they do, they expect me to be stronger and grounded in faith, yet at times I find my eyes moist with a tear escaping; but God can’t help or send me help if I put up a facade that all is well. Hebrews 10:25 is taking on a personal meaning “not forsaking our own assembling together [with other believers], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another”. I am grateful for my brothers and sisters in the faith. We need each other. When we face difficulties - it does not always mean it is not well with our soul. Pray? Yes! Pray how? continuing next month

Summer’s Here – Let The Games Begin! by Preston Wood Summer is upon us, and a lot of folks are now free to rest and relax how we see fit. Parents and grandparents alike have the challenge of overseeing their teens and kids as they embrace a summer of adventures. But when the sun gets too hot and the bugs of Jurassic size emerge, kids naturally retreat to the safety of the indoors to video games. Since those parents and grandparents might want to make sure that their media choices in games are as good as with tv, movies or music, I have three ideas to offer on how to make it easy. Choose a console based on who’s playing it. To sum it up without a lot of jargon, there are three major companies who make the three main game systems: Sony’s Playstation consoles who tout the processing power for dazzling graphics, and Microsoft’s Xbox which prides itself on online multiplayer games. Finally, Nintendo is a company that created the Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Metroid and a bunch of others. Nintendo,

Pledge to the Flag:

because of its creative department, carved a foothold as having some of the most famous games in history. Its games are thrilling and challenging enough to be loved by adults and tasteful enough to be played by any child. If one is looking for an easy choice, Nintendo consoles are prime picks for content and quality for all audiences, as someone who’s had experience with all three. Second, every game, like every book, TV show and movie, is different. Every game in North America is rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), and give all the games a rating

based on the content: E for Everyone, T for Teen, M for Mature. Of course, only three tiers of ratings still make it hard to figure out what makes that rating. But the ESRB site has game-by-game information that details what content is in each. Some games in Teen are much tamer or harsher than it may seem. Research goes a long way. Third, If the kids are not the picky type or are the kind to appreciate a bit of hobby history, don’t be afraid to shop out retro consoles from the company’s past. Many are still in good condition despite being secondhand, and Nintendo consoles are

famed for their durability. These can be bought for garage-sale prices online, and games can sometimes be found at delectable prices. Gaming media is full of choices, exciting stories, engaging gameplay of many genres and styles. I really do encourage anyone who has kids to do research into their favorite series, and learn about the characters, stories and games to join in the fun It’s as simple as searching those character names, terms and games titles that you are unfamiliar with, and a wealth of information awaits! Also if you want Christian, Biblicallybased perspectives on games check out geeksundergrace.com and Focus on the Family’s PluggedIn.com for more current titles. And don’t forget! Focus on consoles from companies that have all-audience appeal, check the ESRB for content information and don’t be afraid to buy retro games secondhand. Missouri's Last Abortion Clinic Fails to Meet 'Basic Standard of Care,' Loses Its License

Tuesday, June 25, 2019 Missouri’s last abortion clinic lost its license on Friday for failing to meet “basic standards of care.” According to the Christian Post, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services determined that the Reproductive Health Services of Planned Parenthood in St. Louis would not have their license renewed. In a letter issued to interim President of the Reproductive Health Services Cathy Williams, the Health Department outlines several “deficiencies” in the clinic’s standards of care, citing cases where patients were ill-informed or were at risk of injury or death because of the

clinic’s policies and lack of emergency equipment. The letter cites one case when a patient identified as “Patient #12” has “severe hemorrhaging.” The letter pushes back against that RHS’ insistence that Patient #12 received “high-quality care,” noting that if the hemorrhaging would have happened at the RHS facility, they would have been “completely unprepared.” The letter continues saying, “RHS does not dispute that this potential for severe hemorrhaging was a serious possibility that presented grave threat to a patient[‘s] safety. And RHS provides no satisfactory explanation for the decision to disregard guidance from ACOG, which indicated that the procedure should have been performed at the hospital.” The letter went on to note other

deficiency such as failing to report failed abortions, failing to identify twin babies before performing an abortion, refusal to cooperate with the Health Department’s investigation and failure to issue new informed consent forms if a patient comes in to have an abortion following a failed abortion. Missouri Governor Mike Parson released a statement on Friday backing the Health Department’s decision. Parson noted that “if Planned Parenthood can show it is abiding by the laws and regulations here in the State of Missouri, it has ever right, under the law, to have its license renewed and continue to provide patient services.” Since it “failed to meet basic standards of care,” however, Parson stated that the facility should not be operating.

He said, “We should all agree that, regardless of the number of Planned Parenthood facilities in Missouri, every step should be taken to ensure the protection, safety, and well-being of women's healthcare. Planned Parenthood is losing its license because it failed to meet basic standards of care, placed multiple patients in life threatening situations, performed multiple failed abortions where patients remained pregnant, and intentionally impeded the state’s health investigation by not allowing health inspectors to talk to the abortion doctors.” He added, “If you don’t comply with the law, there will be consequences. If you don’t provide a standard of care that ensures the safety of women, you shouldn’t be allowed to operate. It’s that simple.”

• • • Get Out Of Town • • • "Nearby Getaways for Ambassador Readers" Humbled in Humboldt by Seth Halpern, Editor When I told a few local friends that I was planning a trip to Humboldt County, the responses were tongue in cheek relating to the marijuana use (and growth) in that area. Call me naïve but I didn’t really consider that at all. I was thinking more about the giant trees and rugged coastline. I almost decided against going but I’m glad I went. The trip north was long (about 5 hours) but easy and more importantly BEAUTIFUL! The directions were simple: Hwy 20 west to Hwy 101 north. Hwy 101 was so stunning that I couldn’t wait to get there. When we got to Fortuna, we pulled into The Redwood Riverwalk Hotel and the lobby was very inviting with games, books, visitor brochures, and a beautifully painted mural map of the area. The front desk attendant helped us bring our bags to our second-floor room (no elevators, but easy steps) Once we opened the door to our room…WOW! The reasonable room rates did not prepare me for this King Suite room. It was HUGE. We could have danced in the room (good thing for our neighbors, I don’t dance ☺). Besides the amount of space, there was an oversized jetted tub (our own

personal jacuzzi). It was well-appointed with triple sheeted bedding, high-quality, environmentally and “body” friendly bath products. I had to remember that this is considered a 2 ½ star facility (according to Expedia). Owner Jeff Durham is working hard to turn the facility into a boutique hotel and he is well on his way. The daily

at the reception desk. Although the indoor swimming pool looked enticing, we never made it there after our full days of exploration. On our first full day, we set out to drive through the “Avenue of the Giants”. This is a 31 mile stretch of “awesomeness”! Redwood trees are everywhere, and they

housekeeping was terrific, and I might add that everything in the room worked well, which may be a first for me (even in much higher priced rooms.) In addition, each morning there is a full breakfast consisting of a generous selection of hot and cold options. In the afternoon, complimentary chocolates and fruit await

are immense both in size and number. The “Avenue” is within Humboldt Redwoods State Park and runs parallel to Hwy 101. We took in the fresh air, marveled at the living giants and thought about how many centuries each one had been growing toward the heavens. I was humbled by God’s handiwork. Further

down the road, there were the requisite souvenir shops and tourist traps. Some were fun, others annoying, buyer beware! We did stop at the Eternal Tree House (don’t recommend) and the Shrine Drive Thru Tree (definitely a tourist trap but fun nonetheless) At many shops along the way you can find just about anything made from redwood. The Founders Grove offers a short loop trail. On the trail was the Dyerville Giant. The giant redwood once stood 362 ft. tall and was considered the tallest tree in the park before its fall in 1991. Seeing it on the ground is quite a different viewpoint of its size. Our second day, we visited to the Loleta Cheese Factory. While they weren’t making cheese that day, we did sample quite a variety and took home way too much! They also had a Grilled Cheese Sandwich Café (of course) and our lunch there was delicious! Victorian Ferndale was just a few miles away so went to check it out. Take a walk downtown and you’ll feel like you went back in time. The entire town is a California historical landmark. The next day, we went north to Eureka. After looking at the downtown, the harbor,

by Pastor Jason Poling The Gospel is simple: repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ who died, was buried, and rose again the 3rd day to forgive you of your sins and give you eternal life. But the Gospel is not simplistic. It is not shallow. It cannot be reduced to a formulaic prayer or mental acknowledgement. Rather, the Gospel involves a cataclysmic event in the human heart. The largest nuclear explosion or the unfathomably massive implosion of a star larger than our sun cannot compare in power or aftermath to the conversion of one human heart from darkness to light by the working of God the Holy Spirit. It is this incomprehensible and dramatic inner change that makes the Gospel “bigger” than a prayer or raised hand or census category change. The Gospel makes one want to see beyond this life, beyond what can be seen. The true Christian longs to view ultimate reality: to see the Kingdom of God working within and overturning the Kingdom of Man. It is at this point the Gospel becomes offensive. How so? To say, “God loves you, wants to save you and give you a wonderful plan for your life” is true and very attractive, but it is not the entire Gospel edifice. The rest of the story is the entire “house” of the Gospel, not just the “doorway” into the

house. The rest of the story is this: God saves you to use you, to enlist you in His work...and it will cost you everything. How does it cost you so much? God saves you to totally renew your mind so that you do not see things as they are but as they will be. For example, Marriage, Family, Money, Time and all the other things we fixate on here are seen in the Gospel-transformed mind and heart to be good things but not best things. Marriage to Christ, the family of God, the eternal riches and inheritance of the children of God, and eternality itself, become our ultimate fixations and longings instead. Interestingly, these earthly “good things” actually become better things because we have focused not on them but on the best things. An example of this logic makes it clear: one who is supremely in love with Christ becomes the greatest lover for his or her spouse!

Tough Questions For Christianity A series dealing with real questions from real people about God and the Christian faith Rev. Dan Prout Sierra Ministries International God and Worship ~ “Why does God command people to worship him? It seems so self-centered and egotistical.” Here in California we are gifted with Yosemite National Park. As you approach Yosemite from the west, there is a turnout with a view point. There you look into the spectacular beauty of the valley with its dramatic granite cliffs accented with the grace of waterfalls, their roar silenced by distance as they cascade 2000 feet to the valley floor. There among the meadows and great Ponderosa pines meanders the Merced River, which name means Mercy.

The view is breathtaking. Standing there, visitors who are strangers to one another, spontaneously turn and comment, suddenly caught up in a common community as they are universally awe struck by the overwhelming beauty of this panorama of natural perfection. Why would we be in awe? What in us causes such immediate, uninhibited response to the beauty of Yosemite, to a sunrise or a sunset, to a bumblebee on a blossom, or a sea bird riding ocean breezes just off the beach? There is something universally true about all of us. It is within the human heart to appreciate, to express awe for that which is so much greater than ourselves, reflecting so much more perfection than we know to be true

of us. How much less we would be if we could not perceive beauty and, even more, not have capacity to have a personal response to beauty. As human beings, we have an innate readiness to worship. God knows this is true of us. God also knows there is a danger in such a powerful capacity. God protects us with this guidance as Number One: “Worship no other gods but Me. Love Me with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength.” Yes, at first take, it sounds egotistical and arrogant if not selfish, insecure, and competitive. Here is why God makes this principle Number One. Just as the human eye is automatically caught by light and by movement, our worship-oriented hearts

have the potential to admire and then adore any number of things which may catch our attention. That which captures our attention can takes us into devotion of that object. That which captures our devotion inexorably moves to capturing our allegiance. That which captures our allegiance becomes our master. Of all the things or people that could captivate us, it is only the true, living, loving God who will not abuse our allegiance. As is true of all God’s commandments, “Worship Me alone” is one of God’s ways of protecting us and helping us prosper.

Continued from Page 1: "Who Are You" from the heart) transfers you (and me) from being a “child of the devil” to “a child of God”. Your family has changed in the Heavens. Wow! What a difference of a family tree! From that point on, life takes on new meaning and the Word of God (the Bible) will answer the three big questions mentioned above. It is important to remember that those other previously mentioned characteristics of who you are- your ethnicity, occupation, socio-economic background, nationality or even previous religion are not relevant. The only thing that matters is “What do you do with the offer of Christ’s sacrificial death for you?” This is not a question of religious tradition. That is man-made. John 3:16 summarizes God’s plan well “(“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life”). I was once a child of the devil. I didn’t know it then, but that didn’t change the fact that I was in the devil’s “family”. Now, I’m in God’s family. It wasn’t anything I achieved. It was simply an offer I accepted-An incredible, once in a lifetime offer. If you are not a child of God (through accepting the offer that Jesus gave you), I ask, plead, implore you to take His offer. We are separated from God because of

PRAYER FOR OUR NATION Dear Heavenly Father, we praise and thank You so very much for our beloved country, the our sin. Heaven has no sin in it and will not allow sinfulness to enter. This means that there are two ways to get into heavenBe perfect or benefit from the “account” of someone who is perfect. It’s like getting a loan. Either you can qualify on your own or you need a co-signer. Trust me when I say that none of us qualify. The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 3:23 “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”. Jesus, however, is the only one who lived a life without any sin. He offers to “co-sign” for you- to allow you to come to Heaven based on His sinless life. If you think that you can do it on your own, you are foolish the Bible says. If you already have received Christ’s offer, then I challenge you to be certain you are “in the faith”. This is not about what denomination or church your attend or how many good things you do. The

Bible says examine yourself to see if you are in the faith (2 Cor 3:15, 2 Pet 1:10,11) Sometimes, following God, and obeying His Word and following through on what His Holy Spirit tells you, is not easy. Persecution will come to those who truly seek Him. As our society gets further from the Lord and slides more into godless corruption, we, the church, the true believers will suffer for our faith in Him. Always remember, however, that the ultimate victory has already been won and we shall see Jesus face to face one day. It will all be worth it when He will say “Well done, good and faithful servant”! Our occupation, our nationality, even our political beliefs are not what defines who we are. The only thing that defines us is whether we are in the family of God or the family of the Devil. To me, it is a clear choice; choose your ”family tree” wisely; your eternity is at stake!

United States of America Thank You for all who have gone before us of every race, color and creed, who have given of themselves to make our country great. In Your Divine Mercy, please forgive us our trespasses and help us to obey and honor You as one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty, and justice for all. In Jesus' Name. Amen

Con't From Page 13: "Get Out Of Town" passing by the Carson Mansion (a historic mansion now owned by a private club), we made our way to the Sequoia Park Zoo. They call themselves “the Fun-size zoo”. Of course, that means it’s small; And it is small but well designed. In fact, established in 1907, Sequoia Park Zoo is the oldest zoo in California and one of the smallest accredited zoos in the country. After visiting the San Diego Zoo not long ago, this was a breath of fresh air (literally, as it is set in a grove of Redwoods!). No crowds, just a peaceful short walk around the property which loops around without confusion. The river otters even put on an impromptu “show” for us. The highlight of my trip came next (ok, the highlight was spending quiet time with my wife, but this is second) We ventured out a little north of Eureka to Trinidad. Here lies part of the Lost Coast and it is SPECTACULAR! At every turn, there was yet another breath-taking photo waiting to be snapped. Fortunately for us,

there were many places allowing visitors to park and marvel at the vastness of God’s creation. Once again, I was humbled by the majestic beauty and creativity coming from the hand of the Lord. There was a lot more beauty and history we could have enjoyed in Humboldt County if we had the time. It wasn’t all heavenly, though. Dining was rather expensive and there was a need for wisdom and spiritual discernment as the area is filled with cannabis and new-age philosophy. Of course, this is true of most vacation spots it seems. We realized once again that although God created a beautiful world, people have lived in rebellion and used it for their own purposes and not for His Glory. Humboldt County is certainly evidence of the Lord’s creativity and majesty. If you are looking for a way to beat the summer heat without the crowds of Southern California beaches, take relaxing drive to Humboldt County and I think you’ll be humbled as well!

But again, this call of the Gospel to put Christ and His mission first, even at the sacrifice of everything else we hold dear in this life...including our own life...is offensive. That was what Martin Luther was trying to communicate when he said: “The Gospel cannot truly be preached without offense and tumult.” A simplistic, truncated Gospel that tells you God's love is only a rescuing love and not also a recruiting love is simply not offensive. It doesn't require anything of you. But when the whole Gospel is proclaimed - that God has saved you to “come and die” for the eternal Kingdom of God instead of merely to “kill time and die” in the passing distractions of the

Kingdom of Man - it will cause tumult. Jesus was willing to give up everything, including His own life. Why? Because He knew the fullness of the Gospel. He knew the sure promise of eternal joy on the other side of the suffering and shame of the cross. This faith in the Gospel of the Kingdom of God empowered His obedience unto death. True Christians are called to the same obedience of faith. We must first believe the whole, radical, explosive, realitychanging Gospel so that we have the longing and divine power to obey the commands of the Gospel no matter what it costs us. The Gospel is simple. And controversial. And awesome.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF 30 By Jon Skillman Back in my pseudo-hippie days, there was an understanding that you couldn’t trust anyone over the age of thirty. People over thirty were considered “The Man,” man, and everybody knew, “The Man” ran “The System” and “The System,” made the rules and rules were a total downer. It was a time of upheaval fer sure. I refer to myself as a pseudo-hippie because I had a full beard, long hair and said things like, peace man, totally and far out, while, at the same time being married, fully employed and not doing drugs. Anyway, my wife and I participated in an anti-war march and rang doorbells for the George McGovern campaign. Yeah I know…it was a long time ago, but we grew out of it. And that’s the gist of this article…the relationship between the age of 30 and change. George Bernard Shaw said; “If at age 20 you are not a communist you have no heart. If at the age 30 you are not a capitalist, you have no brains.” Old George had some strange ideas but a pearl of truth gives his statement value. The Code of Jewish Law says, “As one young man leaves his twenties behind, idealism gives way to practicality.” The code also refers to the age of thirty as “The age of truth,” and declares a person of that age, “worthy of leadership.” Jesus began His earthly ministry at thirty. It was once believed that the human

brain reached full development in the mid to late teens. But today, a consensus of neuroscientists agree that the brain doesn’t reach full development until the late twenties to early thirties. The Designer and Creator must have revealed this truth to the ancient Israelites and they were wise enough to apply it to their culture. Thirty is the minimum age to serve in congress…yet congress appears to be an exception to 30 = reason equation. Some in congress are calling for the voting age to be lowered to sixteen… sixteen! Shoot, when I was sixteen you could buy my vote with the promise of a chocolate malt and a tank of gas that didn’t require a siphon hose. And even in the face of mounting evidence of serious and sometimes irreparable neurological damage, especially in younger users, many lawmakers are advocating for the national legalization of marijuana. Colorado, one of the first states to legalize recreational cannabis, has seen a sharp rise in cases of paranoia and schizophrenia. So what are they thinking of doing? Legalizing hallucinogenic mushrooms BRILLIANT! Evidently, following the money stunts brain development regardless of age.

Finding Freedom in God’s Perfect Peace If you would like to experience the peace and transformed life that God can provide through Jesus Christ and you are willing to commit your life to the only one who can truly set you free from your sin, you can pray to the Lord right now and ask Him to forgive you of your sins. Because of what His Son, Jesus, did by dying on the cross, your sins will not be held against you by God anymore. You can experience freedom for the rest of your life on earth and then have a life in Heaven with God for eternity. God’s part of the deal is already done. Your part is to confess your sins, repent (or change your ways) and believe that He is Lord. If your life is out of control, let Him take over control. For help, questions, or more information, contact us at The Ambassador or any of the churches listed on page 3.
