by Seth Halpern, Editor Even though the percentage of Americans who identify as Christian has slipped in recent decades, the number still represents a majority of Americans. Yet, there is no doubt that most of these people do not attend church regularly and even fewer are fully committed to the faith with which they claim to identify. That is an obvious conclusion based on the fact that most of our local churches (with a few exceptions) are struggling to fill their seats with regular attenders much less committed ones. There are certainly those people who should attend church but don’t as there are people who do attend that shouldn’t. The last part of that statement may seem harsh but the reality, as I see it, is that many

who attend do so for unbiblical motives. They are not “going to church” because of a reason greater than themselves, but for many “selfish” benefits. Please keep reading for clarification. I am not intending to stand in judgement of people who have yet to understand who God is and what salvation looks like. Rather, I’m referring to those who actually oppose the Gospel and hurt the ekklesia (the Greek word for church or assembly). People who are honestly and sincerely “seeking” God can certainly find Him in a church that

preaches the truth of the Gospel where its members are displaying sacrificial love. I’m referring to those who have no interest in growing in the love and will of God and in the image of Christ. Let’s step back for a minute and define exactly what the church is and is not. The church is usually thought of and referred to as the building or location where Christians attend traditionally on Sunday morning (although other times are now popular as well).. According to God’s Word, the church is a people not a

place. The people of God, His children, ARE the Church. So, rather than being somewhere you go, or even something you do, it is something you are. To be the church means to be a family of believers in Jesus Christ, who walk through life (good and bad) together. That’s the way it looks in the book of Acts. Defined that way, we can assume that the church is something much more that the place that people go on Sunday morning (as mentioned above) but also can refer to groups of believers that meet to worship, learn, and share spiritual gifts. These can be home groups, ministry activities and other situations that bring true believers in Christ together for fellowship or

INSPIRATION Five to Six by April James www.BeyondTheSilverCoin.org Five to six months elicits different feelings based on what the months reflect. For one given a jail sentence - it feels like an eternity; for separated lovers longing to be together - the short months are agonizingly long; for the family receiving an Oncologist report of life expectancy – it’s all too short. The latter is where my family is. I told Seth (Ambassador Editor) I would not be submitting articles for a while as the pressure of one more thing was overwhelming. I was encouraged by a message from a reader I’ll call Mr. J, stating “The…message spoke to me right where I am in life… I have some decisions and moves to make and is often the case with your messages, they remind me of His precious promises for all of us! Thank you for the reminder that God is with me (Mt 28:20; Jos 1:8,9), for encouraging me to step out in faith, that no matter the outcome, He is on my side, and loves me more than I can ever know on this side of glory!”. I praise and give God glory for how he touches people by the articles everyone writes; I’m certain it’s all our prayers that the Lord uses them to minister and encourage others. Late one night, I felt the Lord encouraging me to write, not be silent, during the travels into unknown territory. In upcoming articles, the intent isn’t to elicit sympathy or bring sorrow,

rather to give hope and encouragement when facing troubling times. I’d like to be real and not try to appear super-spiritual, for I certainly have my moments. For perspective, let’s step back in time; my husband was first diagnosed with prostate cancer and treatments seemed a breeze, which was without doubt answered prayer. At the end of treatment, we were told it would give him five years; the Lord blessed us with 17 years before once again hearing the words “cancer”, this time it was aggressive and too advanced for surgery and few medical options available. Treatment began early 2018, unlike 17 years earlier the cancer was not stopped; my husband made the decision to stop treatment. He knows the Lord and like all of us looks forward to being with Him. There are no answers to some questions and sometimes I’m uncertain how to pray; the pause button

You Have To Let Go To Rest by Christy Boals www.gracefilledpurpose.com Recently during a piano lesson, I was teaching a student about rests in the music. I was explaining that for there to be a real rest, he would have to let go of the piano key completely. For some reason, this is very difficult even for advanced students; everyone has the tendency to hang onto the note until striking the next one. Rests in music are very important. They create space in between sound and also anticipation for the next note. As musicians, we can use them to create a lot of interest and depth to our music. As I heard myself tell this particular student, “You have to let go to really rest,” I smiled as I caught the bigger truth in the statement. We all have a hard time with this concept! How often I have thought, “I'll sit down after I finish this one more thing!” I probably should just let it go. The harder I hold onto things, the less rest I have. Have you found this to be true in your own life? I am always amazed by Jesus. He didn't heal everyone. Sometimes I'll be reading about His life and want to question Him, “Jesus you forgot some of them, look at all those crowds that were waiting to be healed.” He knew what He was doing though. He knew He didn't come to earth to physically heal everyone, but to be a sacrifice to heal the whole world's souls. He had to let go sometimes and rest. If even Jesus had to let go and rest, that

probably means we should too. As rests in music create space between sound, so also can rests in our life create space for us to truly appreciate and process our life. As we learn to rest, it also gives us a chance to hear God's still, small voice and receive the amazing love He has for us. Then we have the energy to go on again, making beautiful music with our lives. “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place where He prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for Him, and when they found Him, they exclaimed: ‘Everyone is looking for you!’ Jesus replied ‘Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages— so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.’” Mark 1:35-38

- - - Look at the Tree - - on to the wonder of a vital relationship with Christ? The Westminster Shorter Catechism teaches that “the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” Can I enjoy God and glorify Him forever, even while stopped at a traffic light? Actually, the signal changed, and I did make it through the intersection. But there were more trees along my route, so my “sermon” continued. How can I, like a tree, glorify God and enjoy Him forever? The Psalmist wrote in his first psalm that a person who delights and meditates on God’s law is like a tree planted by streams of water (verses 2-3). Delighting and meditating on Scripture will deepen our roots and result in glory to God. Jeremiah also wrote of a tree planted by water. He said there will be no fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. (Jeremiah 17:78). We can glorify God and enjoy Him by releasing our fears and worries to Him and trusting Him for the outcome of our efforts to bear fruit. The Apostle John wrote of another tree, this one in heaven. It stands on each side of the river of the water of life. It bears a monthly crop, and its leaves are

by Paula McBride I eased my car into the left turn lane with only a little sticking out. I counted the cars ahead of me and tried to calculate if I could make it through the next left turn or have to wait through another cycle. There was no need to fret; there was plenty of time for me to get to work. Maybe I thought counting and calculating would make things better. Then I my eyes glanced toward the towering evergreen tree across the street. That tree wasn’t worried about a thing. It was just lifting its arms to heaven and doing what it was created to do. Of all God’s creation, only humans make plans for their lives, then fret and stew when things don’t go according to that plan. Only humans are consumed by their circumstances or bowed down by burdens they were not meant to bear. Looking at that tree humbled me, and its majesty nudged my thoughts off traffic and to the realization that the tree took no thought of the oxygen it was providing, or the shade it was creating, or the way it was filtering the air. It didn’t even know the sermon it was giving me. Oh, I knew I still needed to get to work and fulfill my obligations there. That is part of my purpose. But what if the greater purpose is just “being” in the presence of God--shifting the focus off this world and

- - - A Woman’s Friend Walk for Life - - -

"Have You Ever Said Anything You Regret?" Every human being on the planet has said things they don’t really mean and that they wish they could take back. We all blow it, a lot! Romans 3:23 (NIV) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. With that said, we are sadly witnessing the unforgiving nature of public opinion. When a nationally recognized personality or even someone locally on social media (for example) makes a statement that they later regret, they will be viciously and ruthlessly attacked and vilified and all efforts to apologize are ignored or rejected. What I find fascinating is everyone wants forgiveness but not everyone wants to forgive. Here is a common example: Let’s say a public figure (or anyone for that matter) says something about someone’s character. If that person is of a different race than the critic, then the critic is immediately labeled a racist. Labeling others is out of control. Nobody wants to be labeled because they said “one” thing wrong, intentionally or unintentionally. The critic may have had decades of a solid spotless reputation. To the labeler, it doesn’t matter. The purpose of this article is not

by Rebekah Dahm

to cast stones at the “labelers” but to remind myself (and you the reader) not to fall into the same trap. If we are going to focus on anyone’s label, it should be those who are “unsaved.” Then our goal is to introduce them to Jesus Christ who will give them a brand-new label; FORGIVEN, REDEEMED CHILD OF GOD. What a great label. So thankful Jesus re-labeled me! David Kugelman is the president of the Christian Business Alliance which meets each Tuesday at noon at various locations. On May 4th, A Woman’s Friend held its annual Walk for Life fundraiser. The event was held at Gauche park in Yuba City. In addition to the sponsored walk, there was a variety of activities for children as well as a raffle and booths for the many churches that came out in support. A Woman’s Friend is a crisis pregnancy clinic in Yuba City. The goal of the clinic is to help mothers in need in whatever way it can. Many of the attendees were mothers who had received help from A Woman’s Friend. In a radio interview with 93Q, Kristien Bird, the director of A Woman’s Friend, shared that some of the employees and volunteers at the clinic have had abortions in the past, and while they do not promote abortions, they do not condemn those who chose that option. She explained that they are there to walk through the chaos of a crisis pregnancy

and simply be a friend to the women. This goal is definitely accomplished. In the same interview, a mother who received help from the clinic expressed how pure the love is there and how much it impacted her life for the better. Supporting A Woman’s Friend is not only important to those who have personally been helped by the clinic. It is also important to a lot of locals who did not have support during their pregnancies, and who want to see others get support. This is the case with the pastor of the Bride church, Robert Ouzts and his mother Linda Ouzts. During her pregnancy with her son, Linda had a failed abortion. Through God, the two were able to move on from the pain it caused, and they now let God use their story for the good of others. Because of this, A Woman’s Friend is very important

10 Ways You Can Help The Ambassador Ministry

The Benefits of a “Can’t Do” Attitude by Seth Halpern (originally published in June 2009 Ambassador)

Our culture teaches how to succeed. We, in the west (and I don’t mean California), have an attitude of achievement. Whether status, authority, finances, education, physique, beauty or anything else, we are generally taught how to achieve. Now, there is nothing wrong with being successful in any of those areas. Yet, I have been bothered that some of us (we know who we are!) get caught up in a lifestyle that essentially says “Here, God, this is what I’ve done for you”. And He promptly takes it and throws it in the spiritual trash heap! We cannot DO anything FOR Him. He is ONLY interested in what we allow HIM to DO THROUGH us. It would be dangerous for me to begin thinking that I am some “hotshot” editor with a weekly radio show! I couldn’t do it myself four years ago and I’d be

COMMUNITY

fooling myself if I thought that I can do it now. My success is based on my inability and inadequacy, because where I am weak HE is strong (2Cor 12:10, 13:3,4).I continue to seek Him for each issue and every radio show. Like Peter, walking on the water, I would quickly “sink” if I thought I was doing it myself. But here’s what troubles me: Many of us have bought into a “Can Do” p s y c h o l o g y. I’m not saying that we should all walk around hiding our faces in a shameful existence. We have incredible value given to us by God, as evidenced by His sacrifice of His Son. However, I think that selfesteem, self-confidence, and self-image all begin with the problem- Self! On the other hand, the Holy Spirit working through us can bring about success and achievements that we could never begin to fathom!

1. Pray with us and for us to not only sustain but to grow in impact. Pray for our health and for spiritual protection 2. Read it yourself – You will be enriched by reading it. 3. Share a copy or an article with someoneyou will have someone in your life benefit from an article in every issue, cut it out and send it to them, or send them the whole issue

7. Find new locations- ask businesses that you frequent to take some papers, deliver and monitor them 8. Deliver a small route- 1 to 2 hours each month 9. Give financially as an Individual partner,

business partner, churches/ministries partner (every dollar helps to impact the community)

4. Leave a copy of The Ambassador when you’re having coffee or a meal or waiting for your car. Use it like a tract. It may be less intimidation.

LIFE

LIFE MATTERS presented by Yuba-Sutter Right To Life by Randy Alcorn In his Desiring God article on the prolife movement, Scott Klusendorf, president of Life Training Institute, provides this simple and straightforward argument for human life: By all means, preach a biblical view of human value. But students in local churches also need to know how to make an essential pro-life argument and convey it to non-Christians. The basic shape of that argument looks like this: Premise #1: It is wrong to intentionally kill innocent human beings. Premise #2: Abortion intentionally kills innocent human beings. Conclusion: Therefore, abortion is morally wrong. Pro-life advocates defend that argument with science and philosophy. We argue from science that the unborn are distinct, living, and whole human beings. You didn’t come from an embryo; you once were an embryo. We argue from philosophy that there is no relevant difference between

"Making the Prolife Case for Life, in 250 Words"

you the embryo and you the adult that justifies killing you at that earlier stage of development. Differences of size, level of development, environment, and degree of dependency are not good reasons for saying you could be killed then but not now. Instead of arguing at a fever pitch, Christian students can be taught to ask thoughtful questions aimed at giving people something to think about. Two of my favorites are, “Do you believe that each and every

human being has an equal right to life, or do only some have it based on something none of us share equally?” and, “If it’s wrong to hurt people because of skin color or gender, why is it okay to hurt them because they are smaller, less developed, or in a different location?” The goal of asking is not dominance but thoughtful engagement. By the way, I highly recommend Scott’s book The Case for Life. It’s well-researched, well-written, logical,

Scott Klusendorf, President Life Training Institute and clear, containing many pithy and memorable statements. Those already prolife will be equipped, those on the fence will likely be persuaded. Readers looking to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves will find much here to say.

Assemblyman James Gallagher on the CA Board of Education’s New Guidelines It started in 2015 with Assemblymember Shirley Weber’s Assembly Bill 329, which mandated students receive a socalled “comprehensive sexual health education”. Parents fought for the right to receive notice of those classes and excuse their children. My legislation AB 517, though unsuccessful, was part of that effort. This month, the California Board of Education approved a new set of guidelines for how schools should educate our kids. Part of this is the implementation of AB 329. The guidelines advise teachers to discuss “age appropriate” things like gender identity with kindergarteners or sexual feelings and masturbation with fourth graders. How these things are age appropriate or even appropriate for discussion in school is beyond understanding to any parent. So interest groups are using the State to usurp our role with a radical agenda. Moreover, due to the co-mingling of educational topics advocated in the new guidelines, the lines between sexual health classes and other classes like history will be blurred, making it more difficult, if not impossible, for parents to excuse their children from this radical content. The literature and text being proposed for use are also outrageous, with books

such as “S.E.X.: The All-You-Needto-Know Sexuality Guide to Get You through Your Teens and Twenties” listed as suggested reading. While this book was removed from the list because of public outcry, there are many others on that list that show that the guidelines are less about educating kids on sexual health and more about normalizing sexual activity at a young age and indoctrinating them into the most bizarre and base practices. Time and again, the State of California has pushed to reduce parents’ rights to educate their children and introduced our kids to strange content at younger ages. I want to assure you that I will not sit idly by while the parental rights we have fought for are eroded by the State. Together we can make a difference by acting at our local school district level. Here are some ways you can better protect and advocate for our children:

1. Be Aware – Read the Notices! The school is required to notify you as to: 1) the sex education planned for the school year; 2) any surveys of students regarding their sexual activities; 3) your right to inspect materials; 4) whether instruction will be conducted by outside consultants or district personnel; and 5) your right to opt your child out of the instruction and surveys. 2. Look out for Outside Groups – If the school is bringing in an outside group they have to notify you of the organization and the date they will be providing the instruction.

James Gallagher child out of all sexual education, but you must do so in writing. You can also opt-out of any and all surveys and questionnaires given to students.

3. Maintain open dialogue with your child – Keep track of what they are being taught, how, and when. Ask them if they have been taught about sex and gender issues.

5. Speak up at school board meetings – demand to know your district’s sex education curriculum and make it clear to your school board and administrators that you want sex education to be appropriate and that you want to give input into both “who” is doing the teaching and “what” is being taught.

4. Know Your Rights – You have the absolute right to request review of all written and audiovisual materials used in sex education. It is your right to opt your

Parents should be allowed to use their own moral judgment to decide when and how to have conversations with their children on this topic.

'She Is Free Now': Asia Bibi Makes it to Canada, Is Finally Reunited with Her Family by Kayla Koslosky | Editor ChristianHeadlines.com After being on death row for eight years and protective custody for another, Pakistani Christian. Asia Bibi has made it out of Pakistan. According to Fox News, Bibi flew out of Pakistan under a veil of secrecy on Tuesday and made her way to Canada where she later reunited with her family. As Christian Headlines previously reported, Bibi was arrested in 2009 and was put on death row after being accused of blaspheming the Islamic prophet Muhammed in an argument with several Muslim women. Bibi denied the claims, but was sentenced to hanging, nonetheless. According to The Christian Post, insulting Islam or the prophet Muhammad in Pakistan is considered blasphemy and is a crime punishable by life in prison or death. The Christian Post notes that the law is frequently abused to target religious minorities. After Bibi was acquitted in October 2018, she was released from imprisonment, but kept under protective custody since she was denied the ability to leave Pakistan and numerous threats were made on her life. Angry that she had been acquitted, Pakistani Muslim

Coldblooded Abortionist In Unplanned Film Actually Performed Abortions by Stephen Lahood — There’s a reason the doctor of Unplanned delivers a compelling performance as the cold-hearted abortionist. “Beam me up, Scotty,” he deadpans, sucking the baby out of the womb with a surgical vacuum and into the sterile jar on the table. The reason why Anthony Levatino — who is not an actor — acted the part so well is that he once was an abortionist. Today, Dr. Levantino has repented of performing 1,200 abortions in his past. His change of heart came after his daughter was killed in a car accident in front of his own house. He started thinking about how he was essentially doing what the car did to his daughter. Snuffing out innocent life. “You start to realize this is somebody’s child. I lost my child, someone who was very precious to us,” he recalls on Live Action. “And now I am taking somebody’s child and I am tearing him right out of their womb. I am killing somebody’s child. “I began to feel like a paid assassin. That’s exactly what I was.” Levantino believed the propaganda: he was helping a woman in crisis with her life. But if he was really honest, what he really liked was the money. For a 15-minute procedure, he pocketed $800, he now says. He killed 3-5 every morning.

But the change of heart originated in his own marriage. Dr. Levantino and his wife struggled to have a child due to fertility problems. Their frustration led them to adopt a beautiful girl they named Heather in 1978. As sometimes happens, as soon as they adopted, they were suddenly blessed with pregnancy, so that Dr. Levantino and his wife had two children. On June 23, 1984, an accident in front of his house led to the death of Heather. She was hit but a moving car. After a time of grieving, he returned to work. But he began to see parallels that unsettled him. As he ended the life of the fetus, he couldn’t help but remember the life of his daughter ending prematurely. The thought didn’t pass; it grew. Eventually he sought counseling. He was told to only do abortions in the first trimester. It was thought that if he couldn’t see the well-developed body parts, perhaps it wouldn’t bother him. But that strategy didn’t work. It was a separate human life, not the mother’s body, as the propaganda purported, and he as a doctor knew it better than anyone. “My own sense of self-esteem went down the tubes,” he recalled to CBN. “You watch the movies when somebody goes up to somebody, pays them some money to kill somebody. That’s exactly

“As an abortionist, I see how abortion affects everyone connected with the child who dies. I regret performing abortions.” Dr. Anthony Levatino Former Abortionist what I was doing. “Once you figure out that killing a baby the size of your hand for money is wrong, then it doesn’t take you too long to figure out that it doesn’t matter how big, it’s still her son or daughter.” He quit abortions and began working as a regular doctor — giving life, not taking it. He opened a pregnancy center in Las Cruces to help conflicted women decide in favor of life, in favor of adoption over murder. He has testified before Congress about the horrific reality of abortion. When Unplanned was in the formative stage of development, Director Cary Solomon wanted to cast Dr. Levatino as

the abortionist. Dr. Levantino had serious misgivings for one simple reason: he wasn’t an actor. But the director encouraged him to play the part. He wouldn’t have to act. He would just have to do what he used to do as an abortionist. And that’s what he did. The result was a hyper-realistic portrayal of what actually goes on behind closed doors, behind the political speak and slogans touting “women’s rights.” The reason why Dr. Levatino comes off so cold is because… there’s no other way to portray it. Continued from Page 1: "Don't Go To Church Unless..." Koinonia (the Greek word for that special bond between believers). I know people who are “church shopping” as I also did some years back. This is a very poorlycoined term. Belonging to a fellowship of Christ followers should never be referred to as something you shop for as if you are buying a car, house or clothing. That is our American Christianity mindset. This is because we as Americans are consumer minded. On the other hand, buying a car or home takes a great deal of careful thought, research and energy as it is a huge commitment. This should be similar to committing to a church body or family of believers. It can also be said that even if you are “church shopping”, that you are worshipping and having the opportunity to use your spiritual gifts with the larger body of Christ even though they may be

different people each week. There are a lot of different opinions about the idea of being involved in many (rather than one) church bodies. One of the main arguments is that you don’t have the opportunity to “live life” with people because you don’t get to know them well enough. True enough. The other likelihood is that you might just decide to stay home since you are not really “plugged in” to a group so no one may notice your absence. This was my personal experience for several years.

I was challenged by a friend who had strong opinions about committing to a church body. I was attending different churches until I was not motivated any longer to attend anywhere because I felt that I was not part of any particular family. After finally finding a place that I have committed to (and currently serve as an elder) I am greatly motivated to attend regularly. My title is “Don’t Go To Church Unless…” is not because I want to deter most people from attending church. It’s because I want people to go for the right reasons. Don’t go to Church unless you want to belong to a family. Church is NOT a club like Kiwanis or Rotary. It is a family of brothers and sisters who are blood relatives (that being the blood of Christ). Take it from me, watching or listening to a teaching or message at home does not substitute for being part of a church family. Though the teaching may be good (while many are not), it can be a supplement but

should not replace church involvement. Relationships are key to Christian growth. Without relationships, we will not be able to fulfill God’s desire for each of us. Which leads to the following. Don’t go to Church unless you are willing to be used by God and allow others to be used by God in your life. Church attendance is also not a spectator sport. Involvement and connection is inherent and assumed in God’s Word as it relates to the church. Church is the time when we are to use the gifts that the Holy Spirit has given to each of us for the benefit of one another. (1 Cor 12 -14) Don’t go to Church unless you desire to worship the Lord with others who want to worship the Lord. The church is not the place for interfaith worship. It may be fine to stand or work alongside others of other faiths for a common cause, but worship is different. We are worshipping and praying to our Father in Heaven and the Lord Jesus Christ according to the Holy Bible. Praying or worshipping to different gods is not part of the church. Don’t go to church unless you are willing to change in a good way. As I stated previously, not all who start attending church know the Lord or have received salvation. In fact, many find

If that is where you are at, then a local Bible teaching church is a great place to go because you will learn and grow to ultimately know the Lord. I’m referring to those who are set in their selfish, proud ways and do not want to be changed or transformed into the image of Christ. This is what the Holy Sprit will do if you let Him. If you don’t let him, you will stay the way you are and be a

hindrance to others who want to grow. Attend Rotary or Kiwanis instead! We all need to grow. The Good News is that God is in the business of changing and transforming ungodly people who were jerks like me into people who can be used for His purposes and His glory. There are a lot of reasons to be part of a local church. I want to challenge you to find one if you haven’t and commit yourself to the believers there. I was glad I did.

MAYOR PETE by Jon Skillman The latest and greatest rising star in the Democrat party is, Mayor Pete Buttigieg (BOOT-ih-jej) of South Bend Indiana. Mayor Pete, a bright and articulate young man (35), has recently thrown his hat into the growing ring of Democratic hopefuls vying for the party’s 2020 nomination for president of the United States. Pete is a graduate of Harvard, received a Rhodes Scholarship from Pembroke College to Oxford and now breathes the rarefied air of our intellectual elite. This does not automatically equate to reason, logic, common sense and/or wisdom but often fosters arrogance and a distain for we insignificant mental midgets. But none of this really matters to me. What matters is…Mayor Pete’s theology and his ultimate judgment before God. Mayor Pete describes himself as a church attending, openly gay, Episcopalian. Being gay does not preclude him from becoming president but his gay lifestyle certainly puts his salvation at risk. In a speech before the LGBTQ Victory Fund’s annual luncheon, Pete stated that his marriage to a man has, “moved me closer to God.” Ah…I wonder what version of the Bible supports that contention. I’m reasonably certain that you don’t move closer to God by rebelling against Him. Either the Episcopalian church’s teachings have been perverted, or Pete deceives himself. Either way…the church is failing him.

“Do not be deceived, neither the sexually immoral…nor homosexual offender…will inherit the Kingdom of God…” 1Corinthians 6:9-11. Mayor Pete’s exhibits his distain of biblical Christians by directing his comments to: “The Mike Pences of the world.” Normally I’d take that comparison as a complement but I doubt it was meant as such. I took it as a thinly vailed expression of bigotry towards Mike Pence and anyone who dares to question the moral validity of same sex marriage. Buttigieg’s arrogance surfaces near the end of his speech when he sternly proclaims: “If you’ve got a problem with who I am, your problem is not with me. Your quarrel, sir, is with my creator.” First of all, sir, you are the one quarreling with your creator. Morality is not set by your desires or the whims of men…they have already been set by the very creator you claim to follow. Secondly, and most important, I do not have a problem with who you are, it is what you do…your lifestyle and the effect it will have on your eternal salvation. Because of my faith I don’t hate Mayor Pete…but the Mayor Petes of the world hate me because of it. Anyway, I pray for Mayor Pete…but I definitely won’t be voting for him. I fear Mayor Pete’s homosexuality has become his god.

Shame-Proof There are cell phones and other consumer products that claim to be water proof. That used to mean if you accidently spilled some liquid on it, you wouldn’t have to spring for a new phone. The catch was that it couldn’t be a lot of liquid and it couldn’t be for a long time. Now we have more immersiveabled (is that a word?) devices that you can take in the pool or shower. Does anyone need to be THAT connected?! Anyway, it made me think that I could use (and probably you too) a “shameproof” soul. You know, when you’ve done something stupid and the Lord brings it to mind and then you repent and thank God for His forgiveness. You think it’s over then, but the enemy of our souls doesn’t want to let you off that easy. He brings it back up to you and reminds you of the mistake or sin and then proceeds to you let you have it by whispering accusations in your ear, telling you you’re not good enough for this Christianity thing and that you know you’re going to blow it again so why bother trying. This is called “condemnation”. The difference between condemnation from the Devil and conviction from the Lord is that conviction leads you to confess, repent (that’s what God wants from us) and received the forgiveness of Christ again. On the other hand, once you’ve already repented, the Devil reminds of how “bad” we are and how God

couldn’t love us because of it. That is condemnation. This is a blatant lie and one of the Devils favorite and most effective strategies against us. The truth, however, is that once we repent, we are cleansed and forgiven by God. He does not bring it up again. God’s Word says that “There is NO CONDEMNATION for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1, emphasis mine ). It also says that “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9). If we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, then when the Devil throws spiritual mud at you, you can take care and know that you have been “Shame-proofed” It won’t stick to you because you have been cleaned by the sacrifice of Christ. Rest in Him and enjoy a life “ShameFree”!

If you would like to experience the peace and transformed life that God can provide through Jesus Christ and you are willing to commit your life to the only one who can truly set you free from your sin, you can pray to the Lord right now and ask Him to forgive you of your sins. Because of what His Son, Jesus, did by dying on the cross, your sins will not be held against you by God anymore. You can experience freedom for the rest of your life on earth and then have a life in Heaven with God for eternity. God’s part of the deal is already done. Your part is to confess your sins, repent (or change your ways) and believe that He is Lord. If your life is out of control, let Him take over control. For help, questions, or more information, contact us at The Ambassador or any of the churches listed on page 3.
