by Dr. Ronnie Floyd Government cannot fix us. Politics will never heal us. Those who follow Jesus Christ and identify themselves as Christians need to understand and believe the first two sentences of this article or you will live a highly disappointed life. Disunity is triumphant in our nation today. Some pride themselves over creating it while others grieve when our nation experiences it. Division does not honor Jesus Christ. Jesus is always right. In Luke 11:17, Jesus said, “Knowing their thoughts, He told them: "Every kingdom divided against itself is headed for destruction, and a house divided against itself falls.”

America does not get an exception to this basic principle. Neither does a family, church, business, or even a long-term friendship. Therefore, how should we respond as Christians when America is divided like it is today?

Absolutely not! Because where America is today IS the reason we DO need to pray. If all was perfect and unity abounded across our nation, we may enjoy praying for America more regularly, but whether we enjoy it or not, it is needed. Praying for America should be our first choice, not our last choice! God is our hope; our last, great, and only hope. Therefore, we need to pray like

“The alarm clock is going off in our nation and this is not the time to push the snooze button”.

Response #1: Christians Need to Pray for America Many Christians are so disappointed and fed up with matters about America, they struggle even to pray for our nation. Is this right? Is this justified?

we believe this with all we are. The alarm clock is going off in our nation and this is not the time to push the snooze button. America needs to experience the next great move of God. That is why we pray. That is why we will prioritize praying for America on our upcoming National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2. Will you join us? Prayer precedes every great movement of God biblically and historically. Therefore, we need to pray and ask God for a mighty, great spiritual awakening across America. That is why the National Day of Prayer is a nationwide movement of prayer for America.

INSPIRATION Our Daily Bread by Christy Boals www.gracefilledpurpose.com This morning, I was asking God again to give me a heart of prayer, that I would remember to be praying for my friends. I asked Him “how should I pray?” The question echoed the disciples' own question to Jesus on the subject, and the answer started running through my mind, “Our Father Who art in heaven.” I went glibly past the daily bread part, and got stuck where I frequently get caught up, “and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.” As I went through the rest of my day, I have to admit the prayer never crossed my mind again, until I was praying for someone dear to me that evening. She was struggling with a lack and needed her daily bread. As I was praying for her it hit me. Our daily bread. Wait a minute, daily manna. God's sustenance for today. Jesus wasn't telling us to pray for God's provision for tomorrow, He was teaching us that God's provision is always today, now. We can't live anywhere but now anyway. The disciples would have understood a lot sooner than I did. They grew up with the knowledge of their forefathers gathering manna in the desert. God's grace literally dropped down like dew every morning. They would have heard the stories of the ones who tried to gather more than their daily share and the disgusting results. When I try to grab tightly to what I have been given for

today in hopes of somehow keeping it for tomorrow, it slips through my grasping hands and I lose it the way the Israelites lost their stored manna. Trying to hang on to today's grace is me not trusting God to provide all over for me again the next day. God knew from the beginning how short our memories are, how we need to rely on fresh grace every morning, fresh bread for our souls. God knew how my heart can become stale and forgetful, how I need to learn over and over to pray, “Give me this day my daily bread.” “This, then is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’” Matthew 6:9-13

The Weight Lifter by Paula McBride If the first Friday of May has passed before you read this, take heart. If you are a tuba player, you will be especially encouraged. This day is for you, and you can celebrate it late if you want to. The first Friday of May is International Tuba Day! Really. I googled it! International Tuba Day was founded by Joel Day in 1979. At the time, Joel was a tuba player in a band at Lower Merion High School in Philadelphia, Pa. He started it as a result of a lack of respect for tuba and tuba players by his fellow musicians. He wanted recognition for musicians around the world who struggle with the weight and size of their instrument (lucky flute players!). What would a band be without the foundational rhythm and bass tones the tuba provides? Can you imagine the muscles of the tuba weight lifters? For a sitting down practice or concert, you lug it to your seat and put in on your lap. For marching, the weight rests on the shoulders either as a sousaphone or a marching tuba. In addition, it takes an enormous lung capacity and buzzy lips to toot that horn. Surely, recognition is deserved for these super-musicians. (Never fear, flute players! Your day is October 4, International Toot Your Flute Day.) We’ve just come through victorious days of celebrating our risen Lord, and perhaps we are like the disciples gathered in the upper room waiting to discover

what comes next. For a moment, we put our burdens away and sang resurrection songs, but now we have gathered up the weight of our “instrument” and moved back into somber and dark tones. Just as the new believers would enter a time of persecution, we bear the burdens of this life. As in a band, some will have lighter weight and some unbelievably heavy weight that wraps us up like cold brass. May those with lighter weight never disrespect those whose burdens are heavy, and may those who stagger not be envious of someone’s easier life story. The Master Conductor needs each instrument in His band. Who can better understand the weight a tuba player bears than another tuba player? The apostle Paul, an expert in

CBA MARKETPLACE MONTHLY "Political Passion" Who are you? How would those who know you best - your family, friends, co-workers describe you?? Personally, I know that before Christ saved me, many who knew me best would have said one of my greatest passions was Joe Montana and the 49ers. I hate to admit it but it was truly an obsession. I am grateful that God realigned my passions and priorities. I am hopeful (and fairly confident) that those same people who would have said that my passion was Joe and the Niners would now say Jesus and family. Shifting gears to some newer relationships, I fear that some newer acquaintances would say that I talk more about the political climate than I do

about Jesus Christ. Specifically, they may conclude that I am a staunch conservative but may not know that I am a follower of Jesus Christ. I also know that in many instances, I failed as a witness. That concerns me and it should concern you as well. This may sound like a personal indictment, but honestly it is very common to hear Christians be overly critical and downright rude when talking about certain politicians. Now let me be clear. We need not back down from speaking against unrighteous laws (pro-life being at the top of the list). But the question we must ask is this; does God love (insert least favorite politician(s) here)? We know the answer is a resounding yes! We must remember the

following verse: Ephesians 6:12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. When Jesus (the long-awaited Messiah) showed up on the earth, the Jews expected Him to rescue them from oppressive Roman rule! That is not why He came. Though we can continue to pray for righteous leaders to restore America to its founding principles, our primary role is to love God, love others and make

disciples. To drive home my original point, our Christian identity must trump (no pun intended) our political identity. Time to re-focus, church! People need Jesus. Jesus forgave those who put Him on the cross. He said they didn’t know what they were doing. That may be the case with some politicians. The political left is not our enemy. Satan is! Let’s remember that. David Kugelman is the president of the Christian Business Alliance which meets each Tuesday at noon at various locations. --- The of Rejection • • • “A Tribute to Warren C.Pain Campbell, MD" --•••

On March 16, 2019 our Lord said, “a job well done” and He called brother Warren home to be with Him. After 91 years on this earth and after touching hundreds and possibly thousands of lives our Lord said “enough” down here. My memories of Dr. Campbell go back to when he was still a medical student in Southern California, and I was a high-school student. We both attended the First Covenant Church in Pasadena. Lucy and Warren were active in youth ministry at the church, and thus we became acquainted. Fast-forward 50 years; when we moved to Yuba City 50 years later a mutual acquaintance of ours informed me that Dr. Campbell and Lucy live here. What I didn’t know was how God had used these amazing servants of

God during those 50 years we were separated. God miraculously led them to the Navajo Indians near the Four Corners area of Arizona. Warren found himself in competition with the Medicine Man. He delivered babies, treated 3rd degree burns, measles, pneumonia, and many other ailments that came to these dear folks living in this undeveloped part of the world. Among the many miracles from God were the medical supplies donated from people all over this country as a result of Lucy appearing on the popular TV program “Queen for a day.” An airplane called “Sparrow” was donated to the Campbells. Of course, they needed an airstrip so Dr. Campbell and some friends found a tractor to do the job. Then after a stint back in Southern California, it was on to Quito, Ecuador to work under Dr Murray Weaver, a surgeon. There they set up rural clinics and treated all kinds of challenging ailments. After three years in Ecuador; God led them back to California; first to Contra Costa County hospital then up here to Sutter County migrant clinics. He eventually went into private practice as a family physician then into a large medical group. In Yuba City Lucy and Warren fell in love with the Young Life Ministry and

were very instrumental in supporting it for many years. Warren’s passion for healing extended beyond the physical, as he keenly felt that God was the ultimate healer. He believed that a person’s spiritual condition was equally or more important to the healing process. We will remember Warren for his loving challenges to live right, love well and follow God. Currently the house is being renovated. Many local businesses are partnering with Teen Challenge to remodel the home. Interwest Homes is doing a complete make over on the kitchen. Hilbers Construction and Big S are restoring the flooring in the Tiny House. RVCOC is donating many needed materials and fixtures. The Farmer’s Wife and Stephen’s Farmhouse are redoing the classroom. Lambert House Café is renovating a bathroom. Gallery Interiors is doing a makeover on our living room. California Style is putting some bling into our basement along with helping with many other projects. Janie and JD have done so much work, along with Yelena Lance. Yelena has adopted a bedroom and bathroom too! She has such passion for the women of Teen Challenge. A big thank you to Jackie at the Chamber and her friend Laura, who are adopting a bedroom. Also, thanks to the anonymous supporter who bought 120 gallons of paint!!!! Jim Halpin and Oscar Warthan have donated hours of

Beth Ford, Director of Teen Challenge yard work!! Stanley Electric is doing the electrical work. A-1 and Pam have taken on the carpet cleaning. I, Beth Ford, am the new director. I am so grateful to the volunteers and local businesses for all their help and support. A big thanks to the Christian Business Alliance. Roger Shadd and Seth have been big supporters and are helping us network. CBA and its members were the first to bless us! We are so excited to be a

part of what God is doing to rescue women from addiction in our area! Addiction doesn’t only affect the addict, but affects the families and local businesses. Look at our city and what addiction has done to people! HOMESLESSNESS BECAUSE OF ADDICTION IS RAMPANT. Our hope isn’t in the city council to fix the problem; it has no answers for the problems in people’s hearts. Only God can fix a broken heart. We provide SUCCESSFUL RECOVERY for women with destructive, abusive and addictive lifestyles, through mentoring, education and spiritual direction. We have the answer to life controlling problems. God had set me free back in 1985. In the late 1990’s, my doctor prescribed opiates for me. This led me down the road of being a functional addict in the church. My heart now is for the women in the

church who are addicted to prescription pills and living with a secret. The 12 steps can be summed up as “Stop lying to others and lying to yourself”. When I got honest with myself, I got help. April 11th marks 5 years since I’ve taken pain pills and I AM IN NO PAIN! If you have a secret addiction bring it to the light and get help! I want to thank my husband, Leon Ford for believing in me and supporting me in my worst times. He is co-laboring with me in the ministry of Teen Challenge. My husband is my greatest gift from God. I want to thank my three children Mitchell, Mackenzie and Maggie for loving me and forgiving me! They have given me 5 incredible grandchildren and 2 awesome sons-in-law. God has restored my family! I owe my appreciation to Donnie

LIFE MATTERS presented by Yuba-Sutter Right To Life • Almost 100 Abortion Clinic Workers Seek to Leave Industry After Seeing Pro-Life Movie ‘Unplanned’ • by Mikaela Mathews ChristianHeadlines.com Contributor Ninety-four clinic workers have sought help leaving the abortion industry after seeing the movie Unplanned, according to CBN News. “One percent of the abortion workers in the United States, after getting one look at them being portrayed on film,” Director Chuck Konzelman said during his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution, “have decided to change their lives…and what they do for a living.” These clinic workers approached former Planned Parenthood executive Abby Johnson’s nonprofit, And Then There Were None, which helps workers exit the industry safely. The nonprofit employs former clinic workers to “end abortion from the inside out.” So far, ATTWN has helped almost 500 workers exit the industry and seek healing. Konzelman visited Capitol Hill over Twitter’s alleged censorship of Unplanned’s account. It was temporarily suspended on the movie’s opening weekend in late March. Twitter claims it was an accident. shares Abby Johnson’s radical transformation, from rising in the ranks of Planned Parenthood to joining the prolife movement after watching a doctor perform an abortion via ultrasound. Ashley Bratcher, the lead actress who portrays Abby Johnson, had a personal connection to the film. Shortly after accepting the role, her mother admitted that she had considered an abortion, but changed her mind at the last minute. After fellow actress Alyssa Milano used her platform to strongly oppose Georgia’s fetal heart bill, Bratcher, a Georgia native, responded with her own story. “Having just learned months ago that my life was spared on an abortion table, it definitely put a few things in perspective for me,” she said in an open letter printed by Deadline. The movie hit theaters at a unique time in America’s legislative history with several states passing anti-abortion laws in the hope of turning Roe v. Wade. Despite several TV outlets refusing to run the movie’s ads because of it’s sensitive nature and subsequent controversy in the media, Unplannedgarnered $12.5 million and ranked number eight in the Top Ten after its second week in theaters, according to The New American.

Caleb: Encouragement For Senior Citizens

He was attracted to the mountainous region around Hebron where tradition had it that the patriarch Abraham, along with his wife Sarah, had lived. For Caleb, not only did this spot stand out for its historic antiquity as the burial place of Abraham but was a mountainous region especially useful for the cultivation of fruit trees and vineyards. This spot, some 3000 feet above sea level, had been promised to Caleb when he asked it from Moses. And now 45 years later, as the Israelites triumphantly entered the land promised by God, Caleb boldly solicited what he felt was rightfully his from Joshua, the successor of Moses. “I want this mountain,” he cried out. And Joshua, a man of God, honored the promise given to Caleb. Caleb then set about to take over this region as the

by John Thornbury Now therefore give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day. And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as an inheritance (Joshua 14:12-13). Does God love his children when they become old? Must Christians who have served the Lord faithfully for many years slide quietly into oblivion, or may they continue to be inspired for active and successful service for the Lord? The case of Caleb proves the latter, for this courageous man at the age of 85, filled with wide-eyed ambition, wanted to succeed in life. In the second year after the Exodus, Moses sent a dozen spies into the land of Canaan to look the land over and report back (Numbers 13). One of these was Caleb. Along with Joshua, he was not only profoundly impressed with the beauty and fruitfulness of this land, but was convinced that with the Lord’s help, the Israelites could conquer it. After all, God had long ago promised Canaan to the nation Israel as the place of their permanent dwelling. At the time of their excursion into the land of Canaan, Caleb was forty years old. In that trip through the land, he saw a section of land which had a special appeal.

dwelling place for his family, and his descendants. Caleb was now 85 years old. Even in earlier Bible days, when people tended to live longer, this was an age when most people were retired from the struggles of life. But this son of Jephunneh felt more than able to go forth to serve the Lord and establish his foothold in the wonderful spot he chose. He and Joshua, after all, were the only ones who had believed the land could be taken when ten of the spies perished in the wilderness with all the other unbelieving and idolatrous Israelites. And Caleb felt physically able for the task ahead. “As yet I am,” he confidently affirmed, “as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me” (Joshua 14:11). Evidently the old man was blessed with good health, or if this

was not the case, the veteran did not wish his infirmities to get him down. It may be that the abilities and experience of older saints is the greatest untapped potential in the churches today. Too many people have been removed from service in the Lord’s church simply because they are older. And how many times have you heard churches disparaged because too many “gray heads” were visible. Sadly, many godly believers, feeling unwanted in the churches they built and supported, quietly moved aside because they had been born too soon. Senior citizens who love Jesus should be inspired by the example of Caleb, by his faith and courage. For Caleb, the land he first desired as a much younger man of 40, even though filled with huge, ferocious warriors called the Anakim, faced a formidable task for an octogenarian. But he took on the job. He trusted God to keep his promises and went to work doing God’s will. And so should we. John F. Thornbury is an octogenarian himself, and still active in ministry. He has authored several books, such as one of our favorites, God Sent Revival, on the life of Asahel Nettleton of the Second Great Awakening. Bulletininserts.org

The Fire at the Notre Dame Cathedral Cannot Destroy the Church

The “emotion of an entire nation” The Notre Dame Cathedral is a significant metaphor for religion in our times. French President Emmanuel Macron described the devastating fire as the “emotion of an entire nation.” Thirteen million people visit the cathedral each

year, making it one of the world’s most beloved structures. And yet, practicing Catholics make up only 1.8 percent of the French population. According to a recent study, “the practice of the immense m a j o r i t y of French Catholics is limited to life events such as baptism, marriage, death, etc. and to the major feasts of the Church.” The French are by no means alone in their view of the church’s relevance today. “Where is the church?” The oldest church building in the world is the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Begun in AD 327 by Helena, the mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine, it marks the location of Jesus’ birth. The secondoldest church building is the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, also begun by Helena and intended to mark the location of Jesus’ death and resurrection. I have visited both many times over the

years. Each time, I am struck by the beauty of the structures and the way they draw my attention vertically to the Lord they are intended to serve. However, the fourth-century decision to begin constructing c h u r c h buildings across the Empire marked a major shift in the way Western culture understood the nature of the church. If you had asked a first-century Christian, “Where is the church?” he or she would not have known how to answer your question. It would be like asking, “Where is the Republican (or Democratic) Party?” or “Where is the pro-life movement?” Early Christians knew that they were the church. Buildings they used to gather for worship were just that—buildings. Jesus launched the church as a movement intended to attack the gates of hell (Matthew 16:18). The church is not a location but an army that marches on its

knees as it makes disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19). We cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard” The fire that destroyed two-thirds of the Notre Dame Cathedral was indeed a tragedy. But fire cannot destroy the church of Jesus Christ. Fire cannot destroy the church of Jesus Christ. Jewish authorities tried to stamp out the church at its beginnings (Acts 4, 5). Nero blamed the fire that swept Rome in AD 64 on the Christians and mistreated them mercilessly. According to tradition, Peter and Paul were both executed during this persecution. Over the following centuries, Christians were blamed for causing natural disasters by refusing to worship the Roman deities. They were accused of immorality and black magic. By AD 325, as many as two million believers had been martyred for their faith. Over the centuries since, Christianity has remained the most persecuted religion in the world. But, as Tertullian famously declared, “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church.” During my first visit to Cuba, I told one

by Dr. Jim Denison The fire at the Notre Dame Cathedral cannot destroy the church The fire that devastated the historic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was an accident, according to the president of the Paris region. Donors have already pledged millions of dollars to rebuild the medieval landmark, one of the most iconic in the world. The Cathedral was begun in 1163 with the laying of the cornerstone and largely completed by 1345. The cathedral towers are both 226 feet tall. They were the tallest structures in Paris until the Eiffel Tower was completed in 1889. Around four hundred firefighters battled the blaze for nine hours before extinguishing it. The cathedral’s iconic spire fell, but the towers were saved. People in Paris lined the streets as the cathedral burned, praying and holding vigils for the monument.

How Should We Respond To Those Who Reject Jesus Because Some Christians Are Hypocrites? by Randy Alcorn All of us probably know co-workers or family members or neighbors who say they reject Jesus because some of His followers are hypocrites. How should we respond to this? First, I think we should acknowledge to our skeptical friends that there are indeed many hypocrites. (And if you are a hypocrite, then repent, ask forgiveness, and trust God to empower you to no longer be one. And if it happens again, repent again, and get help from those walking with Jesus who can help hold you accountable for your attitude, actions, and words.) But we also need to explain to our unbelieving friends that it makes no sense at all to reject Jesus because some of His followers, including us, can sometimes be hypocritical! What, after all, is the gospel all about? Is it about us? No! Consider what we’re told in Acts 16:29-31: The jailer…fell trembling before Paul and Silas…and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved— you and your household.” It’s notable that Paul and Silas were in jail and instead of complaining about it, were singing songs of praise to God. So yes, their example was important. The

jailer wouldn’t have been drawn to their faith had they not been visibly different than the average prisoner. The same is true for us in our neighborhoods and workplaces and locker rooms. People should see Jesus in us. However, note what Paul and Silas did not say to the jailer: “Believe in us—since we’re so great—and you will be saved.” No, they said, “Believe in Jesusand you’ll be saved.” The Good News is not about how great you and I are (thank God for that). It’s about how great Jesus is and the wonderful things He’s done for us. Regarding the problem of hypocritical Christians keeping people from believing, we should point out that this is true of all groups, not just Christians. Many people of all sorts, including atheists and agnostics and Hindus, don’t live

consistently with what they profess to believe. (For instance, some of the most intolerant people I know pride themselves on their tolerance, and are blind to their own intolerance, e.g. toward the sincere beliefs of Christ-followers.) In other words, Christians don’t own the monopoly on hypocrisy. Furthermore, there are plenty of humble and lovable

Christians. People need to open their eyes and see them. Unfortunately, the attention typically falls on false Christians or loudmouths or hypocrites. This is all part of Satan’s diversionary tactics. But the gospel is all about Jesus. The Jesus that Christians believe in is good, even when His followers violate His teachings. The Bible never says you have to believe in Christians to be saved. It says you have to believe in Jesus, who said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me” (John 14:6). He’s the One we’re invited to come and see (John 1:46). He’s the only One who can save and transform us. As Tim Keller puts it, “Jesus himself is the main argument for why we should believe Christianity.” That’s the lifechanging truth, and that should be the message we share.

Continued from Page 1: A Divided America Response #2: Christians Need to Love One Another Christians need to follow Jesus’ teaching of loving one another. John 13:34, “Love one another, just as I have loved you.” This what we are calling our nation to do on Thursday, May 2. We need a Love One Another movement that begins in the church of Jesus Christ. Christians should never take pride in being filled with skepticism or criticism of other people. We should love all people just like Jesus did and does: willfully, sacrificially, and unconditionally. Love One Another needs to become a movement that also infiltrates every part of American life when the church is experiencing this movement within their own fellowship.

Followers of Christ need each other more than ever before. While certain secondary doctrinal differences will exist, we need to unite around the beliefs that: • The Bible is God’s infallible Word; it is Truth without any mixture of error. • Jesus is the Son of God and the hope of the world; therefore, salvation is faith alone in Christ alone. • We must focus our lives, churches, and futures on taking the gospel of Jesus Christ to every person in America and across the world. We need to stop fighting over secondary issues and rise up together to become the spiritual light in this darkening America and World. The church needs to model loving one another or we forfeit our right to speak into the future of our nation. It is

time to come together in unity. Response #3: Prepare for the Future What will the Church become in the future of America? Will we lose our freedom or have it affirmed? We need to prepare for the future realistically, but also with great hope. Regardless of the present cultural tide that is rising in direct opposition to the ways of God, we are a gospel people committed to Christ alone. Our future is not in the hands of the United States government; our future is in the hands of our Sovereign God. Yes, our times are in His hands! We need to prepare future generations spiritually and vocationally for what God wants them to be and how He wants them to live for Him. That is why I believe our greatest hope lies only in Jesus Christ, His Gospel, and the advancement of this Good News message reaching every corner of

America and across this world. While we call out to God for His Church to be revived by the Spirit and begin to love one another, resulting in coming together in unity, we need to simultaneously pray extraordinarily for the next Great Spiritual Awakening in America. I believe this is our greatest hope in America. Con't From Page 14: "...Notre Dame Cathedral..." of the church leaders that I was praying for persecution to lessen against his people. I was surprised by his response. He asked me to stop, explaining that the persecution they endured was being used by the Holy Spirit to purify and strengthen his people. The apostles’ answer to our first persecutors must be our declaration today: “We cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20). What the book of Revelation means The Notre Dame Cathedral still stands this morning. Even if it had been totally destroyed, the church it represents would be just as strong and just as significant today. The strength of the church is not in her buildings but in her people. The strength of the church is not in her buildings but in her people. Our willingness to pay any price to worship and serve Jesus is the test of our faith and the foundation of our witness. When last did it cost you something significant to follow Jesus? What sacrifice will you make today in gratitude for the grace you have received? In response to the “mercies of God,” will you surrender your day and your life to your Lord as a “living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God” (Romans 12:1)?

Will you use your influence to help other people know and follow your Lord? If you do, you will join a global movement of believers across twenty centuries whose faith and witness circle the globe and advance the kingdom of God. And you will be part of a movement that cannot be destroyed by fire or persecution—the church triumphant on earth and in heaven. A seminary student was playing basketball with some friends at a nearby high school gym. He noticed the school’s custodian sitting on the steps of the building with a Bible open on his lap. He made his way over to the elderly gentleman and asked him what he was reading. “The Bible,” the man replied. The seminary student grinned and said, “I can see that. What book of the Bible?” The man responded, “The book of Revelation.” The student was surprised and asked, “The book of Revelation? Do you understand it?” “Of course I understand it,” the custodian answered. “What does it mean?” the seminary student asked. The custodian smiled and said, “It means, we win.”

We build structures and relationships to last.

BROKEN NEWS by Jon Skillman BREAKING NEWS: A comprehensive study by the, Well-Duh Institute, (an oblivious to the obvious think tank) has shown that 100% of all pro-abortion advocates…have actually been born. The study has a plus or minus 6.3% margin of error. Well-Duh researchers attribute their findings to an extreme level of selfishness on the part of the study’s respondents. The WDI study concluded that prochoice advocates lack basic human compassion and are unable or unwilling to afford the unborn the same right they themselves enjoy…that being the unalienable, God given right to life. IN OTHER NEWS: (this is an actual letter to the editor of the Chico ER and my response) A Northern California newspaper received a letter declaring a sinister plot within the Republican Party and the Trump administration. The writer claims to have seen, standing behind the president a…a…CHRISTIAN! Yikes! Form a firing squad…build a gallows… the nation is in great peril. But wait… there’s more, the writer goes on to report, the Christian is known to have…GASP! an open Bible on his desk! Call out the militia…gather the storm troopers, let’s have us a good old fascist book burning. Oh, and if that’s not enough, the writer claims there are…wait for it…Prolife infiltrators within the Grand Old Party! Gadzooks! How could this all have happened…we need an investigation, no we need a special prosecutor, an FBI probe, an intervention, an exorcism! But wait a minute, wasn’t this nation founded by a majority of Christians? And is it not rooted in solid Biblical principles?

18

The Ambassador

The writer laments; “so much for the separation of church and state.” He’s right, there’s no such separation found in our nation’s founding documents. The letter implies, that when it comes to public service…Christians need not apply. Oh contraire…there is a “no religious test” clause written into our constitution which specifically forbids the banning or granting of government employment based on a person’s religious belief. THIS JUST IN: Progressives Democrats flocking to embrace socialism. In what many political analysts describe as an ideological match made in Sweden, progressive 2020 hopefuls are turning more and more towards Bernie-ism. The idea is to combine the worldwide failure of socialism with the godless values of progress-ism, to prove, once and for all…two wrongs make things worse. Conservatives warn that Bernieism is fiscally unsustainable, and quote Margaret Thatcher’s words of wisdom to back up their concerns: “The problem with socialism is, you eventually run out of other people’s money.” Religious leaders fear such a godless society would be a gateway to Communism, Marxism or even Bookerism, Kamala-ism and possibly…Betoism and Pocahontas-ism.

A Heartfelt Thanks To Many In March, I wrote my editorial about the upcoming Ambassador Dinner & Variety Show. So, now I want to write to thank many who were involved. First of all, it was sold out! I felt it was a great time. It was our second “annual” dinner. I put annual in quotes because I don’t know the future and it wasn’t until after last year’s dinner that I was encouraged to have it again because people had such a good time. I hope the same was true this year. Many people did tell me that they had a great time, so maybe there will be a third one! There are certainly many people to thank for a successful evening. The Dinner has to start with …well…dinner! For that I’m so thankful for Doreen and Pat Maher as well as Allan their partner at Hillcrest Catering. All donated their time and efforts again this year. Prior to the week of the event, we had NO servers. I’m thankful for Cardin & Lisa Ringelberg and the youth group from Lighthouse Christian Center. They did a great job with very short notice. Thanks to all the performers who donated much time and effort to entertain us, Jeff Poppinga, Beth Emert, Phil Barbaccia, Buzz Lawrence, Michelle Terstegen and the dancers from Creative Flow Institute. Special thanks to my coemcee, LaDonna Curteman who has non stop energy! A big thank you to all who donated raffle prizes. There were some wonderful prizes. I was a little jealous that I couldn’t win one! The money from

Seth Halpern - Editor the raffle ticket sales was a huge boost for us! Many thanks to Pastor Greg Mansur and Adventure Church for the generous use of their facility. Thank you to our setup team, There are many including Charles, Dale, Susan, Yelena, Neesha, Bill, Sonja, , Anni. Our sound & media production team of Lynn & Steve Bennett as well as Kurt Baird for filming the show. For all who helped but not mentioned “Thank you” and please forgive me.. She was also right beside me with all that I had to do. “The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the LORD.” Prov 18:22. Finally, and most of all,. I thank the Lord for working out every detail to bring a wonderful and successful event! I’ll let you know about next year. God bless you all.

If you would like to experience the peace and transformed life that God can provide through Jesus Christ and you are willing to commit your life to the only one who can truly set you free from your sin, you can pray to the Lord right now and ask Him to forgive you of your sins. Because of what His Son, Jesus, did by dying on the cross, your sins will not be held against you by God anymore. You can experience freedom for the rest of your life on earth and then have a life in Heaven with God for eternity. God’s part of the deal is already done. Your part is to confess your sins, repent (or change your ways) and believe that He is Lord. If your life is out of control, let Him take over control. For help, questions, or more information, contact us at The Ambassador or any of the churches listed on page 3.
