RESIDENCE

RESEARCH SUMMARY: Artists notice the WORLD around them in a more DETAILED and ABSTRACT way than others. Millennials PURSUE MEMORIES and EXPERIENCES rather than possessions and would rather live in a situation that gives them experiences than a typical ‘nice’ apartment. Co-working spaces should have a MIX OF` PUBLIC AND PRIVATE spaces and be DESIGNED FOR ITS USER in mind--not all are the same. The physical space and design of an art gallery has a huge EFFECT on the artists product and the COMMUNITY THESIS QUESTION: How can a space be created that gives equal opportunities to artists while also giving them a space to live, work, socialize, and further their career in a safe and positive way? TERMS OF CRITICISM: Create a space for artists to live, work, collaborate, network and showcase their work. Create a space that encourages artists to be their best selves in their personal lives and artistic careers. Give residents all opportunities possible and equal opportunities within themselves. Create a space that allows them to interact with each other and each other’s work. Create a space that allows them to learn each other’s cultures and grow from that cultural appreciation.
