Goviers at Christmas!

In the Willis house Christmas was not usually allowed to start until after my birthday in mid-December but these days we are planning and ordering Christmas ranges from February, much to Janet’s delight!

Many of the ranges we select can only be ordered once in the year so we have to make our selections as early as possible to secure production. This year with so much disruption to the supply of materials this has been even more important than ever. We do therefore urge you to order early to avoid disappointment.

In our Goviers at Christmas are 14 world class brands covering over 130 different pieces.

As ever we only select what we think are the best from a wide range of suppliers.

Requests for quality baubles has increased over the past few years and as a result many more companies are offering them as part of their ranges. Our tree certainly sparkles with the selection that Janet has made over the years. We hope there is something here that you want to add to your tree, or give as a lasting gift to someone dear.

Steiff as ever have been hard at work creating new Christmas items and the Nativity Scene 2021 is a particular favourite here, although I think the Hedgehog in a Mitten is really sweet.

I can certainly identify with the pose of Royal Doulton’s Annual Santa, I seem to recall that is how I tend to be feeling on Christmas afternoon!

The kitchen may be in a state of chaos but after Janet’s Christmas Pudding, my rum sauce and the Queen I am ready for the traditional nap!

I think that Santa deserves a nap after his busy evening too!

Having spent over 35 years in the ceramic industry I am particularly drawn to the Wedgwood Teapot ornament this year. From the hand thrown and turned teapots at Denby in the 80’s through Beswick character teapots, Brambly Hedge, Minton and latterly Royal Crown Derby there is nothing better than a teapot to define the potters art.

Goviers has always been a big supporter of Royal Copenhagen and we are delighted that we have been able to expand the offering over the past two years. We are now one of the biggest Royal Copenhagen stockists in the UK and supply these sought-after items all over the world.

Many of you I know have plate collections going back many decades, such is the appeal of these pieces.

One of my mother’s particular favourites is Georg Jensen. This iconic brand has moved with the times in terms of design but they have always had a certain style all of their own.

We love this year’s range and in particular the trees which I suspect may be taking centre stage on the Willis Christmas table this year, along with a few other carefully chosen items!
