August 5 - September 15, 2025

August 5 - September 15, 2025
THE work of more 100 artists living and working in Lincolnshire can currently be seen at the Art of Now exhibition at Lincoln’s Usher Gallery.
Running until October 18 the gallery’s second open exhibition celebrates the creativity and diversity of local artists with over 140 works selected from more than 900 entries created by 400 artiststhe youngest being just five years old.
Co-curated by Nicholas Simpson and Phil Bowman (pictured top) with support from Laura Dexter, the Usher Gallery team, and the Usha Trust, Art of the Now showcases a mix of painting, sculpture, photography, installation, and mixed media.
“The exhibition offers an exciting snapshot of contemporary practice in the region, featuring both emerging and established artists, with no age or experience restrictions,” said Phil.
Nicholas added: “Curating this exhibition was like solving a puzzle—challenging but incredibly rewarding. Each work was carefully considered, and we’ve aimed to create a space where every piece has room to breathe. It’s brilliant to see such a wide range of styles in dialogue with one another and with the public.”
Visitors can also explore the newly rehung Gallery 6 and the Heslam Room.
See page 20 for gallery opening details.

WANT to improve life in Lincoln? Are you 16 years old or older?
Don’t miss out on being part of the BIG Conversation organised by LocalMotion Lincoln - the community movement for change
Over the past two years people in Lincoln have been sharing their experiences as part of a 10-year study to explore the stories of local communities.
The survey is being run by Social Change, which with LocalMotion, wants to understand the experiences of people in Lincoln, the challenges they face and how local communities can be strengthened. “This is your opportunity to make your voice heard, tell us about your experiences in Lincoln and how you and your communities could be better supported,” said Charlotte Brooks of LocalMotion Lincoln.
This year, you can be part of the conversation by completing the short 10minute survey, and be in with a chance of winning up to three shopping vouchers worth a total of £200.

Local Motion has three main aspirations: l to unite organisations and communities to bring together all voices and opinions to tackle some of the biggest challenges in our place
l to co-design action plans and living strategies for our place that focus on, not only basic needs, but the desires and aspirations of those that live and work in Lincoln
l to test new ways of working, connecting and collaborating, turning vision into action with success not measured by onedimensional outcomes, but the impact on the lives of real people locally
