My name is Álvaro Infantes Gómez del Pulgar, I am an architect, graduated in December 2021 at the School of Architecture in Toledo at Castilla La Mancha University.

I would like to invite you to browse through my academic portfolio. These are the academic projects that I have made during my studies. It represents the main elements and techniques to do architecture based on the design, the construction and the respect of the place.

I decided to study architecture because of my passion for the design, art and history. The knowledges that I have acquired during the degree, have given to me a vision of the architecture like a tool to solve the problems of society. A way to create an appropriate place for the people is based on the details.

For this reason, I want to leverage the opportunity to develop my skills and train me in an environment where the creativity and the design will stretch to the people.

I am sure that my learning and capacity improvement, will help me to create designed spaces from the sustainability, respect for the place and the context.

The project is about a tailor shop in Naples, in the centre of the old city inside the old Aragonese wall.

In order to carry out the programme, the project makes use of the pre-existence of the ecclesiastic ensemble of Santa Caterina in Formiello, where there was a lot of urbanistic intervention on account of the passing of time and the evolution of the urban weave.

As a consequence of this movement, the new buildings of the zone were overlapped to the old urban structure, creating a new system of layer by layer.

This method will name to the project, SOPRAELEVARE and it will be the construction way.

The new programme will be carried out on the roof of Santa Caterina in Formiello. The new structure will join all the parts that form the ensemble, giving it a new use.

In Talavera de la Reina countryside, Spain, there is a Farm School of the known architect Rafael Aburto. The project pretends to increase the actual facility with an agricultural classroom, a teacher house and a garden centre.

The objective is to join the new garden centre with the place and the pre-existence. In order to have only an ensemble, it will be a lavender field which is the nexus between the original and the new buildings. It will be a new roads order between the lavender, which connect the different spaces.

The garden centre will give to the place a new identity, renewing the character of the project and allowing to the users interact with the place for academies or ludic objectives.

Madrid Rio is defined as a lineal park which passes across the Manzanares River, from the Royal Palace of Madrid to the Matadero.

Nevertheless, the continuity of this place is cut off by the Vicente Calderon stadium. In order to solve this problem, the project pretends to introduce the green zone of Madrid Rio to the city centre. The project buries the freeway which passes down the San Isidro Bridge, producing with this a little green mountain which allows the continuity of the lineal park and the circulation of the old freeway.

On the other hand, the project uses the old structure of the stadium, because it can have a new use for the city. The ground floor will be bury to produce an open way near the river.

The structure will be integrated with Madrid Rio, creating an open green space for cultural activities, sports competitions or a place to rest.
