Ammonium Sulphate & Ammonium Sulphate Nitrate Synthesis & Granulation Desmet Ballestra proposes AS/ASN plants based on in house developed pipe reactor technology:
Ammonium sulphate synthesis reactor The reaction between ammonia and sulphuric acid takes place in a pipe reactor. The advantages of the reactor can be summarized as: - Very high flexibility. The same plant can produce ASN and several NPK formulations. - The reaction heat is used efficiently. - Increase of production rate (reduction of recycle ratio)

Sulfuric acid reacts with gaseous ammonia. The reaction is highly exothermic, allowing to evaporate the water coming with the recycled solution from the scrubber. The granules are dryed with hot air co-current in a dryer drum, the final product is separated from both the oversized and undersized product, then it is cooled down, coated and sent to storage. The oversized product is crushed and sent back to granulator with undersized product. All equipment are dedusted and the air released to the atmosphere is clean.
