Fishing Section

The Fishing Club has had another successful year with charters out on the Mussel Farms up the Thames Coast going out every 5 – 6 weeks. We have been very lucky with only 1 cancellation and that was caused by the Coronavirus Level 4 lockdown causing us to stay in our bubbles and preventing us from travelling and fishing on our scheduled charter date. We use 3 different charter boats and due to popularity have to book well ahead. We tend to go on a Sunday but have done weekday charters. We leave the club at 5am in a hired van and are quite often back with our limit of 7 snapper each. Other species caught are Kingfish, gurnard, kahawhai, etc.

The members pay the cost of the charter and we subsidise the hireage of the van. The main club give us around 4 raffle weeks a year which we are grateful for and this along with our subs (cheap) is our only income that the subsidy comes from. We do not have many members and are looking for more so if you are interested find a Fishing Club member at the club to find out more. Morgan on reception will point you in the right direction.
