To a wonderful year ahead!

Welcome to what I hope will be a great year for your Alpha Chi chapter! To help prepare you for everything Alpha Chi, the information in this bulletin is a sneak peek into nearly every opportunity and benefit that Alpha Chi will offer this year I would love to see you at one of our Advisor Meetups in late August and early September I also looking forward to seeing you at our virtual convention next spring! Think of the National Office as your chapter support system, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if we can be of assistance to you or your members

Did you know that last year we created digital media for a campus poster and an invitation postcard? We hope you’ll print and use these when it’s time to send your new member invitations Seeing the poster somewhere on campus and receiving a postcard about their invitation will help invitees know that Alpha Chi is an active campus organization that is approved and sponsored by your university

RESOURCES FOR CHAPTER EXCELLENCE

Make a Member Recruitment Plan

Use our best practice guide for creating a successful membership campaign to grow your chapter It begins with getting accurate data from your registrar on eligible students. Fall invitations give your student members more time to take advantage of their member benefits before graduating

Create a Meaningful Induction

Create an unforgettable ceremony that no one will want to miss Extend invitations to your faculty and administrators, and consider live streaming the event so that off-campus inductees, parents, and friends can participate virtually

Apply for a Chapter Grant

AX has an annual fund for around 15 grants of up to $500 per chapter to help you bring in a guest speaker or hold a special on-campus academic or service event Don’t let this opportunity for funding pass your chapter by! Active chapters are eligible to apply annually! Apply here

National & Regional Scholarships

Alpha Chi will award approximately $85,000 in academic scholarships and fellowships this year! Applicants now qualify if they will be at least part-time students in Fall 2025 Each chapter gets a minimum of 2 nominations for the national competitions. Learn more here!

Host & Share Chapter Events

Plan a chapter event with your officers and members

Keynote speakers, research fairs, and service activities are just a few ideas of events you can bring to your campus Reach beyond your campus by hosting an event and inviting nearby chapters to participate virtually or in person!

Elect & Engage Your Chapter Officers

Find a few energetic or creative student members willing to take a role, hold an election, and identify them as chapter officers in your chapter profile in GreekTrack Officers get a fast track to national office advice & resources Provide them with a chance to become AX leaders!

Attend the 2025 National Convention

This coming spring’s national convention will take place on a virtual platform We hope this will allow more chapters and students to participate while serving to keep chapter costs down so you can save up for our next in-person event in 2026 More on the virtual convention later!

Foster Collaborative Research

Student members can form a chapter team or join a multichapter team (new this year) to create an interdisciplinary research project for the Trisha Yarbrough Competition The first place team wins $5,000; second place wins $2,500!

Upcoming Virtual “Meetups”

Be on the lookout for virtual AX meetups this year! First up are three for chapter advisors, especially if you are fairly new to your role: 8/22, 9/4, and 9/13. Your biweekly Advisor Zone email is where you’ll find details If you have ideas for an event you’d like to see, please contact us!

Share Your Chapter Events & News Earn

Holding a fabulous event? Did your chapter get recognized on campus? Did a student member or advisor make the news? Send an email to office@alphachihonor.org and include photos, graphics, or links to news articles Your news may be featured on our social media or even in Kalo!

With seven criteria of chapter health and success, track your chapter’s progress to earning a Notable or Star Chapter designation for 2024-25 The list of last year ’ s Stars and Notables will go out soon! Filing your Annual Report by September 1 is the final step each year

Alpha Chi hosts a multidisciplinary peer-reviewed journal called Aletheia Our student-friendly peer review process led to the publication last fall of 10 undergraduate papers which have already garnered hundreds of downloads Encourage your members to submit their work for a chance to become published Additionally, consider Kalo, our annual magazine that features student creativity and chapter news

Needs-Based Dues Scholarship Fund Custom Chapter Logos

For every 50 students your chapter inducted last year, you may apply for one national dues waiver for a student in financial need National Dues Waivers will be available annually on a first-come, first-served basis until the fund of $2,750 has been expended The chapter must be willing to cover or waive that same student’s local dues Please consider this if you hear of a student in need The form to apply for a dues scholarship is linked here

The new national student membership fee to join Alpha Chi is $60.

U S Trademarks for Alpha Chi’s logo and name are kept current by the national office, and Alpha Chi’s policy regarding a chapter’s use of the logo is set by the Executive Director Upon request, the national office can create a special co-branded logo with the chapter or university name that chapters may use without needing further permission To request a co-branded chapter logo, submit the Chapter Logo Request Form Logos will take 2-3 weeks to create Request yours today!

Tired of keeping up with local dues checks? Receive local dues via ACH payments and never lose a check again! To sign up, use this ACH Payment Form in the CMS, and contact Katie Holmes at kholmes@alphachihonor.org if you have questions.

Chapter Grant Funding

Alpha Chi annually offers national grants of up to $500 per chapter to help chapters finance a variety of events and activities on their campuses each year! With three program categories, we hope your chapter will find one to suit your local student body and the spirit of your chapter With a fund of $3,500 for the fall and $3,500 for the spring, we invite you to apply! If you want to discuss a certain idea, don’t hesitate to contact us Please allow at least two weeks between your application date and the proposed event date for processing Click here to read more about eligibility and guidelines

Grant Categories:

Academic: Such as creative writing contests, debates, journals, speakers, colloquia, panel discussions, student presentation events, poster forums, grad school or resume-building workshops. Service: Projects and activities that benefit the campus, under-served communities, or local organizations. Social Justice & Equity: Programs and activities focused on societal justice issues

Scholarships & Fellowships

For Undergraduate Nominees

Each Alpha Chi chapter may submit undergraduate nominations annually based on the number of new undergraduate members inducted by the chapter in the previous academic year Awards are disbursed to full- or part-time students in the fall following the spring competition Chapters may use their allotted nominations to nominate applicants for any combination of the programs listed below:

Gaston/Nolle Scholarships (for undergraduate study)

Sledge/Benedict Fellowships (for graduate study)

For Graduate Student & Alumni

Members who are graduate students or Alpha Chi alumni at the time of application don’t require a chapter nomination to apply for any of these fellowships:

Pryor Fellowship for Doctoral Degree Study

Organ and Freeman Fellowships for Master’s Degree Study

AX Mentoring Program Advisor Service Pins

Ambition in Motion is a mentorship program designed to connect Alpha Chi students with alumni for professional networking and guidance. Students participating report great appreciation for their mentors!

Read more about Ambition in Motion on our website, and be sure to pass this information along to members and alumni so that they can take advantage of this great opportunity.

Each year Alpha Chi honors chapter advisors celebrating 5-year milestones of service starting at 10 years Special service pins are awarded to chapter advisors in the spring at Alpha Chi’s National Convention Pins will be mailed to any advisor not in attendance

Service pins are automatically ordered based on the Advisor Start Date located in each advisor’s profile in the chapter management system You can verify and correct that date in your own profile or contact the national office for assistance.
