TUNMISE ANIYI, YEAR 12 STUDENT 2024

From the Principal

As a non-selective school, we are so very proud of the diversity of ASC’s student population – students with such a range of passions and interests, skills and talents, hopes and aspirations – and while we are obviously unable to feature the achievements of all members of our Class of 2024 in this publication, I am delighted to share with you this snapshot of the achievements, experiences and reflections of some members of our much-loved Year 12 cohort.

And while this publication provides a snapshot of just some of our youngest alumni, we are so very grateful to all members of our Class of 2024 for the wonderfully positive contribution they have made to ASC across 2024 and across the years: they leave a legacy at their alma mater of which they can all feel most proud and for which we are most appreciative.

In recognising that legacy and the many achievements of our graduating class, we also acknowledge the College staff who, regardless of their roles, have been such passionate and tireless advocates and supporters of our Year 12s.

We acknowledge and thank, also, the parents and family members of our graduates for the marvellous support they have provided our young people and the College across the years.

All at Ewing Avenue are delighted for our Class of 2024 – for all they have achieved in the classroom and beyond, and for all that lies ahead of them as they now take their many wonderful skills, talents and attributes to the world: we will certainly be following their journeys beyond the College gates with great interest, ready to offer support and encouragement whenever we can.

We thank you, Class of 2024, and wish you all the very best.

A Diverse Experience

We are pleased to provide a snapshot of All Saints’ College students’ diverse experiences, interests and aspirations.

Tunmise Aniyi

One of the things I’ve loved most about my time at All Saints’ College is the endless opportunities it provides. The College encourages every student to explore, grow and succeed in their own way. Over the years, I embraced everything it offered— learning five different instruments, joining eight cocurricular clubs and discovering my strengths and passions. There was always something new to try, something that inspired me to push myself further.

ASC didn’t just offer opportunities within its gates; it opened doors far beyond them. Through the College’s connections, I was fortunate enough to take part in a French exchange program, forming a bond with my host sister that has lasted long after the exchange ended. She’s become a lifelong friend, and our relationship is a beautiful reminder of how ASC fosters meaningful, even global, connections for its students.

In my senior years I chose the ATAR pathway, a challenging but rewarding decision. Each subject I studied taught me more than just academic content—it gave me skills and perspectives I’ll carry for life. Accounting and Finance taught me financial literacy and the workings of Australian business, while Literature helped me see the world through a more critical and compassionate lens. Achieving my Certificate III in Applied Language (French) was another milestone, reflecting both hard work and the endless encouragement from my teachers.

As I prepare to leave this vibrant community and embark on my next chapter at university, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. All Saints’ College has been more than a school—it’s been a second home. The friendships, the teachers, the moments of triumph and even the challenges—all of them have left an indelible mark on me.

I will always consider myself a part of the ASC family. As an Old Saint, I’ll carry the values, memories and connections from these formative years with me wherever I go. All Saints’ College didn’t just make school a beautiful experience—it made it an unforgettable part of my story.

Cameron Anthony

To be prepared for life after school is to be exposed to the community and wider society, and to learn how to communicate, use interpersonal skills and work in a team. Writing this at the conclusion of my eight-year journey through All Saints’, I can safely say that, though scared, I am ready for what is coming next. This is how I know ASC has effectively prepared me for life after school.

On my first day – the start of Term 3 in Year 5 – I was immediately struck by the relationship between students and teachers. Not only is it a two-way relationship where teachers and students are receptive to each other’s thoughts and feelings; it is also a relationship on a personal level. This carried on throughout the years and has been a hugely important part of my time at the College. Through ups and downs, I could always count on my teachers to be there to assist me in any way I needed. For that, I am eternally grateful.

A challenge I have faced throughout my time at ASC is comparison and competition. Some wise words I heard this year: ‘Comparison is the thief of joy’. Year 12 is a time where every student is striving to do their best, in order to achieve results they are happy with. It is easy to get lost in comparing yourself with others, which is nothing but a massive waste of time. Only ever compare you with yourself. Countless instances of group work, projects and assignments, and other opportunities like debating and performing on stage at ASC have given me the opportunity to learn how to be content with improving myself, and not compare myself to others. This is a special learning experience that I will carry with me into the future.

I will truly miss All Saints’. For eight years it has been a home away from home. However, I know that my involvement with the College has not come to an end – I will certainly be keeping in touch and continue to nurture the relationships with all the staff and students that I have been so lucky to have throughout my time here.

Jack Augustin

The College has provided me with guidance and opportunities to achieve my ambitions, shaping the person I am today.

Since joining All Saints’ College in 2017, I have been blessed with countless opportunities to purse my interest and passions. Whether through basketball, music or academic pursuits, the College has provided me with guidance and opportunities to achieve my ambitions, shaping the person I am today.

In Year 12 I undertook five subjects – Mathematics Specialist, Mathematics Methods, Chemistry, Physics and English. Despite the intensity and challenge of these subjects, the constant support from teachers, cocurricular staff and my fellow students kept my mental and physical wellbeing in check, which I believe was key to making my final year such smooth sailing.

Aside from academic endeavours, Year 12 offered numerous opportunities to connect with peers via the Year 12 Retreat, House carnivals and many more events. It’s clear the College reinforces a strong sense of community, which is what I believe makes ASC so special – a cohesive group of students and staff supporting and uplifting one another.

Beyond All Saints’ College, I intend to complete my National Service in Singapore and return to Australia to study at university. I have received a Chancellor’s scholarship from the University of Melbourne. I am unsure of what course to study, but with deep and meaningful connections with staff here at ASC, I will keep in close contact with the College, seeking assistance as I navigate my way through adult life.

Rohan

Balloch

I joined All Saints’ College in 2019, like many of my peers, to start my high school journey in Year 7.

Throughout my time at the College, I have come to believe that the College’s support network is truly world class. From the teachers and support staff to other students, I don’t think it is possible to find a group of more positive and supportive people to shape one’s life during these important teenage years.

In Years 11 and 12, I chose to study a VET pathway which I believe allowed me a different perspective on what is perceived as a “normal” school experience as I was able to attend Fremantle Education Centre every Friday to complete a Certificate III and IV in Business. While my weekly adventures to the heart of Fremantle facilitated the completion of my Certificates, they also offered me the unique opportunity to interact with a much wider range of people from many different backgrounds and schools.

As I stand here at the end of this incredible journey, I am filled with gratitude for every moment that has shaped me into the person I am today. The lessons I’ve learned, the friendships I’ve forged and the experiences I’ve had will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Though the chapter of my life that took place on Ewing Avenue now reaches its conclusion, the memories and connections will remain with me, guiding me as I step into the next phase of my life.

Katie Biddulph

Wearing pigtails and navy-blue sandals, my first experience with All Saints’ College was when I commenced Kindergarten in 2011.

I have been involved in many service experiences whilst at the College such as Community Kitchen, being an Anglicare Ambassador and being on the Catalyst leadership team. Additionally, the College’s service connections have allowed me to participate in many events such as events with the Disabled Surfers Association WA, the Anglicare WA School Sleep Out and the Central Park Plunge which have enriched my love for service.

It has been a privilege to have so many opportunities presented to me, allowing me to try everything and determine my passions. Even the hobbies which I abandoned – I am eternally grateful for the chance I had to give them a go.

I have had so many teachers who have made my journey at All Saint’s College special. My Tutor Group and Psychology teacher, Mr Pengelley, deserves more thanks than I could ever give him due to his endless support and advice, specifically whilst I was trying to navigate the difficulties of Year 11 and 12. Additionally, I have formed a strong connection with Ms Rees, Mr Basell and Madame Chu. Aside from their extensive knowledge of the subjects that they teach, the way in which they offered additional resources and support to all of their students is something that I am forever grateful for and admire greatly. The dedication shown

The lessons I’ve learned, the friendships I’ve forged and the experiences I’ve had will forever hold a special place in my heart.
ROHAN BALLOCH, YEAR 12 STUDENT, 2024

to their work and their students is something that characterises teachers at All Saints’ College.

I found it particularly difficult in Year 11 to choose only six subjects in which I was interested and I completed Year 12 studying French, Literature, Mathematics Applications, Politics and Law, and Psychology. Studying French as an ATAR subject included receiving a Certificate III in Applied Languages and participating in an exchange which saw me travel to Nice in 2023 and spend two weeks living with my wonderful host family.

Beyond ASC, I hope to continue to study what I love and, following a gap year to work and hopefully visit my French exchange student, I intend to study a mixture of Law and Psychology at university.

I absolutely intend to keep in contact with ASC, and hopefully I will be able to return soon, whether to coach, teach or be involved in the numerous community events the College has on offer.

Kerry Cao

I am beyond grateful to have been part of this special community.

I joined All Saints’ College in 2011 as a Kindergartener and little did I know that this would be the beginning of an exciting journey filled with growth, opportunities and lasting memories. Reflecting on my time at ASC, I can see how much I’ve grown, both academically and personally, thanks to the enriching experiences and unwavering support of the College community.

Throughout my 14 years at the College, I’ve been fortunate to experience a nurturing environment that has allowed me to thrive in countless ways. One of the highlights of my journey has been discovering and developing new hobbies, such as robotics and music, through the wide range of cocurricular activities offered. Participating in these activities has not only broadened my skillset but has also allowed me to build new friendships and maintain a balanced lifestyle. Beyond cocurricular pursuits, my passion for service and leadership has been cultivated through taking on a range of different leadership positions and participating in various service opportunities. These experiences have greatly influenced the person I am today, as well as the way I view and understand the world.

Academically, I studied Chemistry, English, Mathematics Methods, Mathematics Specialist and Physics in my final year. These subjects were both challenging and interesting, and I am deeply grateful for the guidance of my teachers and the company of my classmates, who made every lesson enjoyable and engaging. As I prepare to embark on my next chapter at the University of Western Australia as a Lawrence Scholar, pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and a Bachelor of Science, I look forward to applying the skills, knowledge and values that I have gained from my time at ASC.

All Saints’ College has truly blessed me with countless opportunities and experiences, as well as friendships and memories that I will cherish forever. I am beyond grateful to have been part of this special community and am proud to now call myself an Old Saint. I look forward to staying connected and contributing to the ASC community in the years to come.

Jing Quan Chong

I have been a student at All Saints’ College since Year 5. Over my seven years at the College, I have had the privilege to be a part of this welcoming and vibrant community. From the vast selection of cocurricular activities – my personal favourite being Running Club – to the knowledgeable and kind teachers who provided me with overwhelming support whenever required, my journey at ASC has been nothing short of incredible. The emphasis on developing skills for the real world allowed me to grow not only as a student, but also as a person.

In my final two years, I chose to study six ATAR subjects: French, Chemistry, Mathematics Methods, Mathematics Specialist, Physics and English. Although the workload was stressful at times, I thoroughly enjoyed these subjects, particularly French, as they aligned with my interests.

Beyond high school, I plan to keep in touch with the All Saints’ community and will forever cherish the countless connections I have made along the way.

I hope to study Medicine at university and pursue a career in that field.

David Duff

People have often said to me that I am always at school, and when I reflect on why that is, I believe it is because of the breadth of opportunities that All Saints’ College offers both inside and outside the classroom.

I have been thrilled to participate in Mock Trials, the Publications Committee, the Arts program, stage managing the College Production, playing cello in the Guarneri String Orchestra, going on the Teach Learn Grow Service Tour and being part of the ICT Super Team and Tech Club among many other things. I think the combination of all these different opportunities has helped to shape me into the person I am today.

From an academic standpoint, I have also benefitted from the flexibility afforded by the timetable. I was able to take up Drama in Year 12, one of my favourite subjects, as I had completed Mathematics Methods and Chemistry in Year 11. This flexibility allowed me to pursue my interests and ensure variety in my schedule.

Looking ahead, I am thrilled by the opportunity to move to Canberra and study Law at The Australian National University. I am excited by the opportunities that this presents, but simultaneously nervous for the change. However, I am sure that I will equally enjoy whatever opportunities present there.

Another aspect I have loved and appreciated about All Saints’ College is the help, support, dedication and time provided by the teachers guiding me through challenging times.

Looking to the future, I will always be reminded of my ‘home’ at All Saints’ College, and I will definitely stay in contact with my friends and the teachers who have supported me along the way.

Thomas Haynes

I was fortunate to be surrounded by staff who are passionate not only about teaching but also about helping ignite a spark within students.

My experience at All Saints’ College was incredible and has left me with unforgettable memories. Throughout the twelve-and-a-half years of my enrolment, I was not simply a student, but part of a family that welcomed me into a second home. This was something I only truly realised when I went to say goodbye, which quickly became a “goodbye… for now”. The College has pushed me to achieve greatness in all I do, which extends far beyond the classroom.

One of my favourite German words is ‘Selbstverwirklichung’ which at the surface may seem scary and hard to pronounce, but once broken down can be easily accomplished. This to me is symbolic of its meaning, which directly translates to self-realisation. This refers to the process of realising and fulfilling one’s potential, talents and true self, which involves the pursuit of becoming the best version of oneself and, in my mind, leaving a positive impact on the world. This too can seem overwhelming at first, but All Saints’ provided me with an environment where learning and purpose were limited only by my drive for more, never by the lack of opportunities.

I was fortunate to be surrounded by staff who are passionate not only about teaching but also about helping ignite a spark within students. This laid the pathway for my journey of self-realisation and helped fuel my inner purpose. The most life-changing wisdom All Saints’ bestowed upon me was never from an ATAR textbook, but rather providing me with the tools I need to navigate an ever-evolving world.

Whilst I am now faced with a new adventure as I expand my branches further into the world, my roots will forever remain planted amongst the foundations of the All Saints’ College community, of which I am proud and honoured to remain a part.

Genevieve Ho

I am deeply grateful for the supportive environment created by both staff and students that shaped my journey.

I joined the All Saints’ community in Year 7 and vividly remember the nerves of starting at a much larger school than my primary school. However, I am very grateful for the College’s Transition program which made the change so much easier. I still recall Transition Night, when our cohort met for the first time, playing games and eating pizza, which made the first day of school far less daunting and more welcoming.

A defining aspect of my ASC experience is my involvement in a wide range of cocurricular activities which the College offered. I immersed myself in service groups, committees and different sport carnivals, creating some of my most cherished high school memories. These activities not only allowed me to explore new hobbies and passions, but also helped me form lifelong friendships with my closest friends.

Leadership has also been a highlight of my journey at ASC, with exposure to opportunities that I am incredibly grateful for. From serving as a Year 7 and 8 Class Representative to being part of the House Council, Peer Support group and a Murdoch House Captain, each role was deeply rewarding. Each played a large part in deepening my passion for leadership and service which are values I hope to carry forward in the future.

Reflecting on my time at ASC, I am deeply grateful for the supportive environment created by both staff and students that shaped my journey both academically and culturally and inspired my aspirations for the future.

Senuka Jayasekara

What was six years at All Saints’ College seems to have passed in the blink of an eye. Time does fly when you are having fun, and I can certainly say that my experience at the College was nothing short of an amazing, life-changing adventure.

It was in the ASC classrooms that I learned maturity and responsibility, and it was on the ASC grounds that I was able to find my people. I was able to make such wholesome friends along the way, who truly shared not only my interests but also my personal values. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to explore my personality through the cocurricular program from coding for my team in the Robotics Club to giving my all in College Choir. I got to work with such wonderful people at the College’s Technology Support Centre – I will miss them all.

I took Chemistry, Chinese, Literature, Mathematics Methods, Mathematics Specialist and Physics, which aligned with my personal interests. Whilst I had a heavy focus on STEM subjects, I am glad that I was able to balance it out through an immersion in Chinese language and culture, and through being able to discuss texts like Frankenstein with my friends.

Beyond ASC, I hope to be accepted into the assured pathway for Medicine at the University of Western Australia. I also wish to maintain my passion for music composition by taking music electives and continuing to make music tracks for people to enjoy.

I am grateful that this environment not only helped me discover who I am as a person but also uplifted me to improve and work towards being the best version of myself.

Patrick Jones

It’s been a tremendous experience and I’m truly grateful to have been a part of it.

I’ve been a student at All Saints’ College for 13 years, joining in 2011, and it feels like time has flown by so quickly.

My journey at ASC has been incredibly enriching. In the classroom, I’ve loved the collaborative learning environment and how teachers encourage critical thinking. I also enjoyed the vast offering of cocurricular activities, particularly Mock Trials and Philosophy Café, which allowed me to build friendships and develop new skills.

In my senior years, I studied English, French, Modern History, Mathematics Methods and Chemistry, all of which I found to be both engaging and rewarding. French, in particular, was an eye-opening experience, and allowed me to earn a Certificate II in Languages alongside the ATAR course.

The connections I’ve built with both students and teachers are invaluable to me and I will be sure to continue supporting and staying involved with the College. It’s been a tremendous experience and I’m truly grateful to have been a part of it.

Rebecca Lee

My All Saints’ journey began in 2019 when I arrived in Year 7.

From the second I stepped into the College to the day I graduated, I have always had an amazing community surrounding me. I can confidently say that these years have been some of the best I will ever experience. The aspect that makes ASC special to me is the community that it is built on. Staff and students have a strong bond with each other and being part of this has been an honour.

The most enjoyable part of learning in an All Saints’ College classroom is the support that you receive from all of your peers and your teachers. I was also blessed to have a leadership role in Year 12 as the Wellbeing Captain. I truly felt it was a life-altering opportunity to grow in my leadership and communication skills.

In Year 12, I took an ATAR pathway studying Chemistry, English, Mathematics Methods, Mathematics Specialist and Physics. I thoroughly enjoyed them all because of how my teachers taught each subject and the friends I made along the way.

Beyond All Saints’ College, I wish to pursue volunteering opportunities and I plan to have a career that enables me to help the most vulnerable in our society. I am also definitely planning on retaining strong contact with ASC in the future because it is not a community that stops when you graduate, but a lifelong family of which you are a part.

From the second I stepped into the College to the day I graduated, I have always had an amazing community surrounding me.

The College’s drive to empower and encourage students to be the best possible versions of themselves is the embodiment of what it means to prepare us for life beyond school.

Since commencing at All Saints’ College in 2011, I have been welcomed with open arms. The College’s drive to empower and encourage students to be the best possible versions of themselves is the embodiment of what it means to prepare us for life beyond school.

Japanese lessons in Junior School, the multitude of Outdoor Education camps and the $20 Boss program are just some of the examples that allowed us to bring our creative inspiration and colourful thoughts to life.

After spending 14 years at the College, it’s hard to pick a highlight, however, it’s safe to say that the experience of being the 2024 O’Connor House Captain developed my leadership and teamwork skills in new ways. Having the opportunity to connect with other students across all year groups while leading a House that is all about community and supporting one another was truly an honour. Being a part of the ASC basketball team as a player since Year 2 and a coach for the final four years created long-lasting memories and friendships.

I always had a passion for working with children, therefore, my final two years included undertaking a Certificate III and IV in Education Support, Mathematics Applications and English ATAR as well as a Certificate II in Sport Coaching. This allowed me to follow my passions while gaining experience working in a field I was interested in. I was thrilled to be able to work with the Year 4 class alongside Mrs Zaurs, learning from her wisdom and insight.

I have been accepted into Curtin University for a Bachelor of Health Sciences and will, hopefully, transfer to Occupational Therapy after a semester. My dream is to work one-on-one with children who experience learning delays and fine motor skill impairments. All Saints’ College helped me to discover my passion for helping younger children through the vast opportunities to connect with the younger years.

I have built strong relationships with the staff throughout my time at ASC and this has led me to where I am today because of their endless support. I am looking forward to staying connected with ASC through afternoon sport, helping the Sport, Health and Physical Education staff and students. ASC is like another home, and I am so grateful to be able to stay in close contact.

Jaide McPhee

There is something for everyone no matter your background, interests or hobbies.

My journey at All Saints’ College started in Year 7 in 2019.

In the classroom, I have enjoyed the close friendships and bonds I have formed with my teachers and classmates. All of the cocurricular carnivals and competitions have been a great way for me to experience the whole All Saints’ community gather together and enjoy each other’s company.

I have personally enjoyed all the inclusive sporting opportunities that All Saints’ College has offered as well as all the basketball tournaments and carnivals. It has been an honour to represent ASC over the years and even bring back some silverware in my last year of school for the senior girls’ team.

I chose the General pathway during my senior years at the College as well as two ATAR subjects that I am passionate about.

Beyond ASC, I am planning to study and play basketball in America and am really excited to get a degree in teaching.

I think the open and diverse community at ASC makes the experience special for all at the College. There is something for everyone no matter your background, interests or hobbies.

My relationships with all my teachers over the years have been positive and supportive. I am so grateful and lucky that I have been surrounded by teachers that not only care about my learning but also my wellbeing as well as getting to know me as a person. The genuine bonds I have built with my teachers are feelings I will cherish forever and they have played such an important part in getting me through my high school years.

Because of that, I will definitely be keeping in touch with the ASC community, whether it’s at the cohort reunions or reconnecting with the staff.

Aaron Ooi

All Saints’ College has truly been like a second home to me. Throughout my time here, I’ve created countless wonderful memories and embarked on journeys I could never have imagined back in Junior School. Some of my most cherished experiences came from being part of the music program, where I enjoyed many unforgettable moments performing on different stages.

I am deeply grateful to the dedicated staff who have supported and encouraged me to set higher goals and pursue my ambitions. The wide range of cocurricular opportunities at ASC has allowed me to explore new skills and discover possibilities for my future.

As I look beyond ASC, I am excited to continue my musical journey and hope to inspire others to follow their passion for music. I also dream of one day performing alongside some of the incredible staff who taught me here.

To my peers who have been alongside me throughout this journey – thank you.
