Netflix’s recently announced roster of Tamil films set for release in 2023 covers multiple genres, showcasing south India’s creative talent. These films tell global stories that are locally authentic, augmented with high-quality subtitles and dubbing.
Japan, from Dream Warrior Pictures, stars Karthi and is directed by Rajumurugan, while Studio Green’s Thangalaan has Vikram in the starring role and is directed by Pa. Meanwhile, the collaboration of Ranjith and Sithara Entertainment, Srikara Studios and Fortune Four Cinemas presents Vaathi, which stars Dhanush with direction by Venky Atluri.
Maamannan is the offering from Red Giant Movies; directed by Mari Selvaraj and featuring music by A. R. Rahman, the film stars Udayanidhi Stalin and Keerthy Suresh. The latter is also the star of the movie Revolver Rita, which is directed by K. Chandru and produced by The Route/Passion Studios.
From Vishnu Vishal Studios comes two films set to be released on Netflix in 2023: Aaryan, directed by Praveen K., and Gatta Kusthi, produced in collaboration with RT Teamworks. Both films star Vishnu Vishal.
