IN SRI LANKA
The Gnanam Foundation: Past Projects in Sri Lanka
In 2013, the Gnanam Foundation was involved in the building and renovation of water wells in the Vanni districts and partnered with the British Asian Trust to donate to several charitable causes in Sri Lanka and India.
LARGE-SCALE WATER WELL BUILDING
The Gnanam Foundation initiated a water well project throughout the Vanni districts of Sri Lanka in order to provide communities with access to clean water. In partnership with the Children’s Hunger Relief Fund, the foundation identified regions with urgent need of these wells. As well as committing to build 60 new
wells, the Gnanam Foundation also earmarked many existing wells for renovation.
PARTNERING WITH THE BRITISH ASIAN TRUST
The Gnanam Foundation has partnered with the British Asian Trust to provide funding to the Sarvodaya safe learning spaces (SLS) project based in Sri Lanka. As well as providing a safe
environment in which to learn, SLS arranges home visits for children who’ve dropped out of school with the aim of re-engaging them with the education system. Meanwhile, funding provided to the Youth Business project in Sri Lanka helps young people living in Ampara to establish and develop their business plans and connect with a mentor.
