Sara Shahak / Israel What happens to my memories, experiences that are hidden in my mind and heart? I want to preserve them, to freeze their physical existence together, like those creatures that have been frozen and drowned in a kind of a time capsule of fossils. Objects that have been a part of my life are true physical expressions to my memories. I melt together, by a torch fire, different metal parts. Some of them are raw materials I usually use in my works, as well as parts of my old and nostalgic jewelry collections, items that symbolize memories, longings and life experiences. While all the pieces are bubbling into one piece, I let the flame shape and assemble them, creating a new ‘fossil’, containing old memories, colors and shapes. The creation process will end when I throw the 'fossilized stone' into water. Then the "memories" are captured together. The "fossils" are changing into new jewelry items that contain hints of memories and and "fragrances" of my life. Until death … and beyond...
