My hands are my most precious body parts. I like the way they look and because I’m an artist I need them to create my art. I have a big fear of damaging my hands or losing their function. In these pieces I try to desperately repair or at least patch-up these broken hands and put lost parts together to give them a new purpose, an attempt to fight my own fear of damaging my hands. This, as a way of coping with this fear and trying to use it to my advantage. This way I try to work with this fear, which I will carry with me for the rest of my life. The pieces also represent the decay I won’t be able to stop. One day my body and hands will completely disappear. At that point these pieces become a way to remember me, and my hands…
