When we get married we rarely think of death or illness, yet I witnessed these terrible events not long ago. I was able to observe through the suffering of my friends how losing or risking losing the loved one was a tear. I also saw their trauma and their ability to get up, for their children, for herself too. These women did not imagine themselves so strong. It's called resiliency. The loss of a loved one is excruciating pain. We never get over it. Yet we can transcend this pain. This is what made me want to create this collection of rings. To show off the being that we have become, despite the injuries.

This sentence is usually meant to be said at a wedding, but I think these words can also be said to someone close to you that you love. These words mean to me a fight, a job, a battle to keep our loved ones close to us, and tells us that the only thing that can take us away from them is death. It's a long-term job. By saying this sentence, you commit yourself to invest in the relationship. The work that I am submitting for this theme represents the day when death wanted to separate me from my loved ones. In the jewel "Fragment" All the elements represent a part of my body. I use materials offered by the death of a living being: Fossilized dinosaur bones which represents the spinal cord by its honeycomb look, the whiteness of the fossilized mammoth ivory represents bones, red sapphires represents the blood and the titanium is the same material used for surgery, and implants “Fragment” is a piece of my memory, an extract from my life, a portion of my history.

During Post War America floors were covered in inexpensive patterns mimicking luxurious carpets with magnificent colors and patterns. Often overlooked and viewed as utilitarian I have extracted the colors and patterns from the flooring to create the brooches. They are created as a reaction to the growing consumerism of the world.

While grieving from the loss of a loved one, I began thinking about how we handle loss differently. The pieces I have submitted for the UNTIL DEATH DO US PART each help the wearer deal with grief in some way. Monkey's Paw is based on the short story about a grieving father who wishes on a cursed artifact to bring his son back from the dead. He returns, but as an abomination. Some people would bargain anything to bring back a loved one they once had. My piece Draugr is inspired by viking mythology; a Draugr is a spirit of someone with unfinished business who haunts their crypt restlessly for eternity. My ring is intended to be used as a meditative tool for dealing with grief in a healthy way. The gemstones studding the surface can be used for counting or rubbing similar to Mala beads or rosary beads in order to ease into a meditative state. Ideally in the liminal space that the meditation provides, the wearer can deal with their feelings of loss.

Intimacy connections are strong and fragile at the same time. This world produces enormous amounts of tiny dusty emotions and secrets every day. Only related to the individual in it, then it was buried by the torrent of time. These subtle emotions flowed out of the hands like fine sand, and couldn't stop. We struggled and wandered in it. Longing for something to grab, and hoping that we have never had it. But no matter what, they are still so touching, occasionally taking a glimpse of time. The beautiful, bright and irreplaceable. At this moment I started to realize, The connection point between you and me that gleams slightly. No one can be separated. "Until Death Do Us Part"
