Broken Flowers. Can anything be everlasting? Materials that were supposed to be forgotten, to disappear, or to dissolve make up the jewelry pieces I've created. I seek the point at which a moment is almost gone, and I attempt to preserve it, freeze it. I set flowers I've collected and dried by myself as if they were precious gems, using the brooches as crutches that support these broken flowers and enables them to remain erect and present in their state of decay and imperfection in an attempt to help them linger on a bit longer and defeat their disappearance from the world.

Memories die with us. They said the streets would be paved in gold and promised of a better life. In exchange one must conceal, assimilate and never speak of who they are and where they are from. What they didn’t plan for was that important things are passed on without words and can never be fully concealed. The objects I make honor my family stories, sacrifices and strengths and offer a place for remembrance and a permanence.
