Our Houston, Texas program has officially closed. Over the past 2.5 years we’ve engaged multiple communities throughout Houston with the help of 1,707 volunteers. We want to give a huge thanks to the staff on the ground, the communities that have hosted us and all the partners who have made it possible for us to have such a lasting impact in the city of Houston. Despite the Houston program closing we are committed to continuing our impact in the state of Texas with the team in Coastal Bend planning to stay for at least a total of three years. The team continues to collaborate with local partnerships including Hands of Hope who have repaired roofs of homes that will then end up in our work queue, allowing us to build resiliently. In addition to collaborating with Hands of Hope to return homeowners to a sense of normalcy, the team recently attended and helped out at an event spotlighting the work that Hands of Hope has been doing in the community.
Community Stories The team in Houston completed the Mr. Nguyen home! When we arrived at Mr. Nguyen’s home there was nothing but studs remaining. The team worked diligently to rebuild, installing drywall, flooring, cabinets and all the essentials to ensure that Mr. Nguyen felt like he finally had a home after 2.5 years. Mr. Nguyen expressed his gratitude to the staff and volunteers at our final meeting on program. Team with Mr. Nguyen (left)
