Our team of All Hands and Hearts’ staff and AmeriCorps NCCC volunteers is making good progress with their work queue in Louisiana and have completed more than 60 chainsaw sites! While we’re continuing to support homeowners with these vital response activities, including debris removal and mucking and gutting, we’ve also successfully started transitioning to recovery activities with the commencement of our Resilient Roof Repair Program. Our initial focus is assessing homes with roof damage and creating a prioritized work queue based on the level of need.
Community Voices Tiwona is a fierce fighter with a heart of gold. There is an extension to her home that she was initially planning to turn into a daycare, but following the recent storms (Hurricanes Laura and Delta), Tiwona felt compelled to give back to her community. She’s now decided to turn it into a women’s shelter; a cause close to her heart. Our team is thrilled to support Tiwona with this mission by repairing the damages caused by the hurricanes.
