Current Activities We have officially wrapped up our program in Florida, successfully putting 18 families back into their homes. We want to give a huge thanks to all of our partners who have contributed to the success of this program and for allowing us to bring Bay County significantly closer to recovery.

Project Spotlight It has been a long road to recovery for Air Force veteran and community activist Gregory Dossie. We were able to get Greg back into his home with the help of Catholic Charities and loved working with Greg every step of the way. Greg made a point of getting to know every volunteer that came through his home, asking them where they are from and what drove them to serve.

Disaster Profile On October 10, 2018 Hurricane Michael slammed into Mexico Beach, Florida as a Category 5 hurricane with maximum sustained wind speeds of 160 mph. With record-breaking wind speeds, Michael is both the strongest storm to make landfall in the continental US (since Hurricane Andrew in 1992) and to ever hit the Florida Panhandle.

Tracking across the Southeastern United States, winds plunged 1.4 million residents into complete darkness in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Virginia and the Carolinas. Communities across the region were devastated, with full towns in the Panhandle are demolished beyond recognition.

Our Work Thanks to the crucial support of our partners, donors, local community and volunteers from all over the world, our program has been cultivating a powerful impact in Florida since October 2018. Assessing the immense and widespread destruction of the storm, our team initially identified a need for tree work, debris removal, mucking and gutting and mold sanitation. After assessing the high need in Bay County and extending our recovery program in December, we have now completed our goal of putting 18 families back into their homes!
