Downtown Allen: Rooftop Dining, Concert Space to Revitalize Historic Landmark

A plan to transform the City's historic fire station into a one-of-a-kind dining landmark is moving forward with support of the Allen Economic Development Corporation (Allen EDC).

The project will convert the historic landmark located at the corner of Allen Drive and McDermott Drive to a restaurant destination featuring rooftop patios, café-style dining and an outdoor stage.

This effort is part of a broader Downtown Revitalization Plan aimed at creating a vibrant, walkable space that honors our City's history while boosting economic growth.

While details on its future tenants are still unfolding, Allen EDC is hopeful that construction will begin by the end of 2025. » Learn more about the Downtown Revitalization Project at CityofAllen.org/ DowntownAllen

D.R.I.V.E. to Thrive: A Team Effort for Safer Streets

Allen’s D.R.I.V.E. to Thrive campaign launched last August with one big goal—reduce injury crashes in Allen by 10%. Thanks largely in part to your safe driving, we’ve put the brakes on crashes and surpassed that goal. Injury crashes are down 13% year over year!

Allen Police Department is celebrating a big milestone thanks to community funding and support. Construction has begun on the new Allen Police Headquarters, kicking off a major step forward in public safety and community engagement.

When complete, the new Allen Police headquarters will feature:

• Large Community Room: For events, meetings and outreach.

• Smarter Workspaces: A layout to promote efficiency and team collaboration.

• Expanded Property & Evidence Room plus Crime Scene Lab: Designed to support a growing city.

• Performance and Training Areas: Enhancing officer wellness and readiness.

Project funding was approved by Allen voters in the 2023 Bond Election and will utilize additional federal grants. The new headquarters is expected to open in early 2027. » For details: CityofAllen.org

Allen Public Library Expansion: A Story in the Making!

The Allen Public Library (APL) is a true classic, and its latest edition is set to open in fall 2025—the ultimate publish date! While readers anticipate the grand re-release, crews are steadily constructing an expanded space to read, learn and gather.

Latest Project and Construction Updates:

• The plot thickens in the north wing, where framing is in place for an expanded children’s library, new program rooms and teen social spaces upstairs.

• New framework has risen in the south area of the courtyard which will soon become a first-floor social area, with study rooms and seating upstairs.

• The east wing's expansion near the flagpoles is another bonus chapter for the library - setting the stage for two new multipurpose rooms.

While the library gets a fresh cover, you can still check out books, movies and programs at the temporary location: 800 E. Main Street.
