This disc includes a performance of Blumenstück, Op. 19 from the opening Schumann night, a performance of Bilder aus Osten by Richter and Lyudmila Berlinskaya, and the Piano Quintet in E-flat Major performed by Richter and the Borodin Quartet.

Gennady Nikolayevich Rozhdestvensky (b. 1931) is one of the outstanding conductors of the 20th century, and also a pianist, composer, and researcher. Rozhdestvensky’s repertoire is enormous; he has performed and recorded all of the symphonies by Haydn, Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and many others, and has conducted a multitude of the world’s premieres both in Russia and overseas.
