Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ Prayer
Uniform
Lord Jesus Christ, you gave us the Eucharist as the memorial of your suffering and death. May our worship of this sacrament of your body and blood help us to experience the salvation your won for us and the peace of the kingdom where you live with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
A small number of older girls have been warned about fashion bags which are not allowed in college. Any girl who arrives in college without her authorised college bag (with BEC Logo) will be required to transfer contents to a plastic bag until the replacement is purchased. We have worked successfully over the years to ensure that College is not a place for a fashion contest and that the focus is on learning. The standard we have set is being rigorously maintained and we are grateful for the support the vast majority of parents give in these matters.

Any boy whose trousers are not clearly around his waist will be sanctioned and parents contacted. Parents - please can you check your son is able to support our standards of decency. Nothing is more offensive than the sight of underwear and our rigorous standards will be maintained.

117 This is the number of parents who have very kindly completed the Parent View questionnaire so far. The previous data was erased when we became an academy and we would be very grateful if as many parents as possible could fill in this on-line form, so we can use the information in our college self evaluation and action planning. www.parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/. This is a key document for Ofted and we really need your help. Its fantastic news we have reached our target of 100. We are now aiming for 200 before the next half term.
Feast Day Mass for Pentecost The college Feast Day Mass was a great occasion to celebrate the birthday of the Church, languages and internationalism at All Hallows' with multi-lingual prayers and a Chinese fan dance representing the working of the Holy Spirit in Christian life. The Year 9 GCSE drama group dramatized the story of Pentecost and Fr Peter Burke (St Albans) illustrated the powerful workings of the Holy Spirit by re-telling an adventure about skippering a yacht in a storm. The liturgical choir ably led the singing and as is the custom in our college, everyone received a piece of birthday cake after Mass to celebrate the birthday of the Church and our special day. Many thanks to Fr Peter, Revd Harrison, and to staff and students who took active roles in the preparation and celebration.
Enterprise Success On 10 May 2013 'The House Rules' led by Rebecca Lynch and Jessica Ainsworth went to Old Trafford Football Stadium for the Young Flyer's Award Ceremony, the culmination of many months of work for a competition launched by The Airport Group in September 2013.The Airport Group recognise that developing young people's employability and entrepreneurial skills is crucial to prepare them for life after education and potentially becoming business leaders of the future. In response to this The Airport Group designed a bespoke and unique 'Young Starship Enterprise Challenge' for high schools across the North of England. The idea the girls came up with for a pop up 'gazebo style' house that would go around primary schools to teach young people about house safety captured the attention of The Dragons at each stage of the competition, but their ability to pitch their idea so well was what made them stand out from the crowd. At the ceremony 'The House Rules' came out on top and Rebecca and Jessica were absolutely thrilled to be announced as the overall winners of the competition, beating 37 other schools and over 2,200 other students in the process. They now have to rise to the challenge of making their vision a reality with the ÂŁ1,500 prize money that has come to the College to be invested in their social enterprise venture. Plans for this are already taking shape with meetings planned with Peaks and Plains Housing Trust who will continue to support both girls in the future.
