All Hallows Catholic College Newsletter Christmas Term
SPECIALISM SUCCESS The College rewarded 18 enterprising All Hallows students this week with a celebratory breakfast to thank them for their efforts last week in helping run a day off timetable for 180 Year 8 students at St Paul's Catholic High School in Wythenshawe. The group of students included experienced Y13 BTEC Business Event Organisers, 2 Y12 volunteers and 5 Y9 KS3 Enterprise Club students. The students arrived by coach to a warm welcome from the staff at St Paul's and started the day off with a presentation in the Main Hall at St Paul's led by Mrs J Lynch, Subject Leader for Business and Enterprise. Following on from that, the All Hallows students worked alongside the Y8 students all day to help them explore their 'dream job'. The Y8 students at St Paul's were enthused, excited and amazed to find out that their dream job was a real possibility. They looked into the future after much research to imagine what their CV would look like after completing their studies and what it would be like to experience 'a day in the life of' .... an engineer, an astronaut, an engineer, a bomb disposal expert, a vet, a politician....... Mr Billings congratulated all the students involved in this event on a 'job well done'!
REFUGEE CHRISTMAS APPEAL For the second year our students have demonstrated our core values of Stewardship, Honourable Purpose and Respect for those in need at Christmas... Each class chose and purchased a Christmas gift for a child refugee who has been settled in our Diocese. The total money collected in just over 1 week was £1300 which, with 10% discount offered by Argos in support of our appeal, amounts to £1430 worth of Christmas gifts. The gifts will be handed over to the Catholic Children's Society next week for distribution in time for Christmas Day. Thank you to all our students and families for your generous support.
