College Prayer
Parents As Partners
Prayer in memoriam of Blessed Oscar Romero who was assassinated on March 24 1980 Lord, we bring before you all who are imprisoned unjustly and all who are tortured. We think of those people who live in fear of injustice and repression. We pray that the minds of those who abuse others may be turned to what is good and honourable. May those of us who live in freedom not take our heritage for granted, but be of good influence in leading others to value one another as brothers and sisters. Amen. Prayer focus: Social Justice
One of the most important things is to ensure your child has the resources to avoid revision being dull. Encourage your child to make notes, to highlight key points and words and to go over each topic several times, The more active and interactive the revision is, the more likely the information is to stick. The least effective method of learning is just reading the information through, over and over again; only marginally less effective is copying it out, Find out if there are any TV programmes, museums, exhibitions or theatre productions relevant to any of the courses. Also books or plays on CD or tape can be listened together.

PTA Trips
This year in Languages we have continued to build on our integration of “Content and Language Integrated Learning” in our Key Stage 3 curriculum. CLIL allows us to teach another subject through the foreign language. In Year 8 and 9 last year we looked at the topic of the European Union in preparation for the referendum. This year we are focussing on Science, where Year 8 students have learnt about the dangers of smoking, drugs, and alcohol, and on Geography where students will learn about great places around the world and compare their lifestyles. CLIL has been proven to raise achievement across the curriculum thanks to the higher order thinking skills required and to raise motivation, as it gives another real-life relevance to language learning. This is the start of an exciting CLIL journey for All Hallows – watch this space!
