Elections for the 14th Alice Springs Town Council are just around the corner and it’s time to consider putting your hand up and nominating to run for Council. Alice Springs residents will head to the polls on Saturday, 28 August to elect nine Councillors, including a Mayor, but have you considered putting your name on the ballot?
Councillors serve by listening, working together and making decisions on behalf of the community and our Council in Alice Springs represents one of the most diverse communities in the country.

You certainly do not need any local government experience to put your hand up for election, nor do you have to be a born and bred Territorian but you do need to be an Australian Citizen and resident of Alice Springs. While it can be a challenging position, the role of Councillor
also offers opportunities for personal growth. Councillors commit an average of 20 hours per month to the role but receive ongoing training and constant development opportunities. If you care deeply about Mparntwe-Alice Springs and can spare some time over a four-year term, put your heart where your home is and consider nominating now.
