There is a war or a riot going an in nearly every part of the world. Whether the war is about civil equality or political ownership; whether the riots are about financial freedom in Greece or Black Lives Matter in Ferguson. The people of the world want to change the social norm. The people are uprising; society must evolve as the people do. This trend book of Winter 2018-19 shows the steps in how the world will express and achieve the change it desperately needs. Power is the first stage of the uprising of the world. It is showing the anger of the world, people are tired of being ignored and underestimated and over looked. Women are no longer going to be over looked in every aspect of skills and leadership. Minorities are no longer going to allow them to be oppressed and ignored. We are taking back our power to be seen as full citizens, we are standing in unison against the current condition of the world. Power is the visual expression of that internal fight. Riot is the second stage of the uprise, and with power comes aggression. We must destroy to build. We must change to create. Creating riots forces your message to the forefront of everyone’s attention. It forces it be recognized. The smoke and dust covers the scene to reveal the new state of the world, unity in our anger, disbelief, and fight. With every ying there is a yang, and with the chaos created with the demonstration of power and havoc with riots. We stand together in our community to create unity and stand together with our message and produce tranquility. The peace and patience that overcomes when their purpose has been recognized and their message has been heard, there is nothing left but change. The message of the world is change. Everyone is fighting for change, dying for it, and killing for it. No matter race you are, continent you live, or whatever religion you are. Change is what we are living for.

What is it about power that makes people change? Why do morals become weaker, and arrogance becomes stronger. Why? Is it because those that have been powerless for so long refuse to revert back to weakness? Or is it because those with power no longer have to follow the rules. Different people show their power in different ways. Some simply open their mouths while others choose to show force. Each individual’s decision is shown through this trend. These beautiful pinks and deep blue, show the decisions to speak up or show quiet strength. Pinks come off as loud and abrasive while the deep blues come off as strength more show of power. This is the time of Winter 2018-19, our youth will have to make to make a choice. The heavy contrasting emphasized the difficulty in the decision. Power is about taking from within, feeding off the natural elements. The power of taking what some see as destroyed and creating a work of art is what we all have.

A riot is the language of the unheard. Martin Luther King Jr. The intense oranges contrasting with the beautiful greys in this trend show the brutality of this world. The varying color bases, some undertones of blues, violets, and green show the different backgrounds and problems we have but we all stand together to change it. The subtle changes feed you the intensity of each moment. You want to feel these colors and feel the destruction. The winter of 201819 will be using the basic forms of communication, going to back to simple black and white, and clean cut lines. Inspiring you to riot for what you want. Something’s must be destroyed before you can build.
