1 .1 | Wo r k- i n - P r o g r e s s H o u s e R e n o v a t i o n i n I t a l y This is a work-in-progress renovation of an ancient house in Lizzano, a southern Apulian town.

This building’s origins date back around XVII- XVIII century AC, subjected to multiple restorations up to XX century, and then abandoned.

It has the typical functional distribution of a historical row house with the larger room at the front, two small rooms in the middle and the back yard. The whole structure is in tuff and the celing has the ancient particular shape “Volta a Doppia Stella o a Squadro“, a kind of vault that is unique and traditional of this part of Italy, now rarely built. It’s the addiction amog a Cross vault, a Domical vault and a portion of a Dome.

Unfortunately the surveys started a few weeks before Covid19 issues . The site is currently stopped.

1.2| Enhancement of Halle Perret in Montataire Halle Perret is a 20th-century industrial building near Paris, that has been converted into a cultural center and music school, inaugurated in April 2018.

My task was to draw plans, elevations and sections and to create a 3D model for the release of the project in newspapers and architecture magazines.

1.3| Maison Nicolardi My project aims to renovate a 70’s house in a town in southern Italy, made up of many tiny spaces and roughly orgnized. The client’s request was to redevelop and redistribute the spaces to obtain larger and brighter environments for a two bedrooms flat.

The site takes place following the north-south axis, so the rooms’ windows face to the eastwest direction, that allows to enjoy the natural light during the day, and to endure the summer heat from the south side.

Reducing the number of compartments has optimized the quality and comfort of the rooms, helped by the choice to use coating materials that gave high energy efficiency.

For the outside area I’ve chosen a porphy paved porch, and a light wood and fabric covering.

The outer wall is covered with tuff, a traditional local porous stone ideal for thermal insulation and cooling of indoor environments on hot summer days.

2 .1 | R e s i d e n t i a l B u i l d i n g i n 8 x 1 2 m The plan composition is in three parts: two solids and one middle patio.

Dispite the face of the building is blind, the interiors are full of natual light thanks to the wide opened windows looking through the private patio.

This project is made to be replicate in series.

2.2|New Waterfront for Monopoli The project comes from the willing to redesign an ancient industrial district.

Monopoli is a growing tourist city by the sea, that’s why it’s very important to improve the waterfront shape and to renovate the area next to the historical centre, creating new residential buildings and a welcoming public space for social gathering.

Drowings in collaboration with: S. Carnimeo

The masterplan of the urban project aims to link the existing buildings with the new ones and to improve the relation between the harbour of the ancient city centre, with the new commercial port by the former industrial district.

Chimneys are still there to represent the symbol of what the place was and what now is, and they’re a point of reference between the urban centre and the promenade along the waterfront.

2.3|Thesis: Historical urban fabric and Contemporary Design My master thesis was about Belgian historical architecture, with a specific focus on the development of the cities of Liège and Huy. Firstly I have analyzed the urban plans progression during the centuries, as well as the building construction typologies. Then, after all the surveys, I set a morphological scheme with all the kind of building, both residential and non-residential.

The data collection allowed me to shape two projects: a structural restoration of the old building in Rue de la Boucherie n.2 in Liège, and a new design project involving the Calatrava’s Guillemins station area up to the industrial district of Longdoz.

3 .1 | Te m p o r a r y w o o d i n t e r l o c k i n g P e r g o l a This temporary construction is made of wooden elements joined together by interlocking.

The basic module is generated inside of a regular hexagon of 1 meter per side.

The module is then replicated by rotation around a vertical axis on one of the vertices (pic 1).

There are two kinds of elements, straight and cylindrical. The straight ones shape the regular hexagon (pic 2 and 3), that is the basic module. And the cylindrical ones (with a dodecagonal base, pic 3 and 4) are the connectors among each basic modules, six at a time, therefore creating a decorative geometric pattern.
