UA STORE

NEURODEVELOPMENTAL INSTITUTE New headquarters for Fundación Salud Infantil

Developed to improve kids and parents inclusion, the Neurodevolpemntal Institute is based in the city of Elche and is created from accesibility and energy efficiency.

The main idea of the project is to make children the main important ones, adapting every environment and facilities of the building to families that visit the center every day. Because of that, the coexistence of all users is essential, working in every detail that would allow the development of children’s imagination.

The building is divided in different areas, being the neurodevelopmental center and attention to families, as well as kindergarten and school, some of the most important ones.

Deconstruct to build

Sometimes, building is a process that requires delete layers.

What was proposed as a rehabilitation intervention because of humidity and filtrations, it became an old historic building recovery dated on 1860.

I was descovered that, in origin, the building was part of a huge complex that was composed by the Spa of Santa Pola. Because of that, an intense process of cleaning and consolidation is carried out with different actions for its maintenance and recovery.

The original composition of windows and doors voids in facade are recovery as the roof, which was originally made by flat tiles. All different layers of concrete and painting that covered the facade are removed. As well, the interior distribution of the existing surface is planned, adding a new extension.

UA STORE

A museum inside a store

The space must generate a new and interesting experience of purchase inside the University of Alicante. The history of the University, its origins, its evolution and landscape became part of the experience path of the store.

To achieve it, the conventional order of stores inside a museum is inverted.

The project propose the creation of an expositive space inside a selling space. The museum is introduced inside the shopping path, reinforcing the image of the University of Alicante to the visitor.

The exterior illumination creates a visual claim from a more distance vision that exists from the acces of the Campus in a rounded circulation in opposite with the interior one that is more detailed creating an almost magical sceneraio that invites the campus pedestrian to discover it.

The main facades are presented as glazes through the use of translucent glass panels with a powerful image of the old hangar now converted into an airfield, one of the symbols of the Campus. Two large sliding wooden planes as gates support the new designed signage and allow a view of the initial museum tour.

COMPLESSO RESIDENZIALE A new tipology for an ancient Rome

The old typologies of an ancient Rome are changing, they has to be adapted for a new kind of dweller that looks for a shared and sustainable life.

In a neigborhood where the new museum and the old factories still live together, the project developed a new kind of dwelling compatible with urban life, where the interaction between neighbors and pedestrians is the main point.

The union between old and new is visible, when the skin of old factories become not only dwellings but a giant garden, a place where all people can go and take a coffee or read a book, an quite island on the center of Flaminio, directly connected with MAXXI’s museum, designed by Zaha Hadid, creating a big relations and connections square.

Dwellings are design in three parts: the base, previously an old factory, is converted in two floor family houses with a courtyard; the middle ones are houses with a glass facade, intensifying the difference between new and old; the last one, are dwellings with balconies that are acting like landscape screen.

MASTERPLAN LORCA

A new design from countryside for urban life

The masterplan, ubicated at nord-est of Lorca, transforms the countryside area into a residential neighbourhood. This includes 2,600 dwellings, parks, school, supermarket, facilities...

The projects looks for use the main rural paths of the existing countryside for connect all the neighbourhood, using them as the central axis that concentrates green spaces and facilities. All houses have been designed inside a reticle, where dwellings are on the edge of every plot, using it’s corners for shopping and other uses on base floor, and bigger houses on first floor.

Density is lower for be able to reduce the impact, grouping the buildings in blocks of 20 houses around an interior green area. Each dwelling has a 5 m of facade due to enhance life on the streets that encircle each nucleus of houses.
