JAN KRIEL

THIRD YEAR STUDENTS OF 2021

Jan Kriel Wine Auction has been a 3rd year project for 7 years now and we are thrilled to announce that this will be the case again this year. Due to COVID-19 social gathering restrictions, we have made the decision to move the date to Wednesday 20 October 2021 where we will hopefully be able to host 150 - 200 guests and raise some funds for the Jan Kriel Institution.

The third years really blew us away with creative and inspiring concepts and the winning concept was: Light the path. Not only is this going to be brought over in utilising a lot of candles in the decor but also uses the symbol in the Jan Kriel Logo. This year’s Wine Auction will embody warm and deep shades of burnt orange and mustard, balanced with neutral shades of grey and beige. We also drew inspiration from another group’s presentation and will incorporate the following poem into the event as well: Hope on a rope

“If you don’t want to lose hope, tie it to a rope and pull yourself to safety.

Because hope has the power to lift you up whether your problems are light or weighty”

WORKSHOPS

THIRD YEAR STUDENTS OF 2021

The art of floristry. Aren’t these pieces just beautiful? The third year students had an incredible workshop with Coral Shortt from Epanouir Flower Studio who showed them the ropes and guided them through the life of a florist.

They got to be creative but also needed to learn how the costings work of flowers within a given budget. They created floral arrangements for peices, hand-held bouquets and boutonnieres.

Although they could not complete this course in 2020 as originally scheduled they really enjoyed learning these new skills this year which they will definitely utilise again in future. 21
