Workshop week did not dissapoint this year. The students met new suppliers, learnt new skills and got to know themselves even better. Here are some fun moments in their Boeretroos Barista and Shake and Serve Cocktail workshops.

FIRST YEAR STUDENTS OF 2021

ABOVE: Each year The Aleit Academy’s first year students get various opportunities to flex their creative muscles. They got the opportunity to visit Coral and Hive Looms where they had a personalised carpet factory tour and learnt about textures, patterns and materials.
They were also tasked with doing a creative mood board workshop, led by Academy lecturer Monique Harris. They loved the practical mood board design with paper, textures and materials where they designed their dream living room’s interior by selecting a colour scheme and look (modern, bohemian, industrial, farmstyle, etc.).
RIGHT: This Creative Hats workshop presented by our very own a|CREATE, is a favourite each year. Each student was equipped with a plain, black Fedora hat along with craft tools and creative décor materials with the task of decorating their hat according to their own creative style. They absolutely loved it! Photography: Alicia van Staden (Olive & Fox Co) | Facilitator: Alex-Deene Howard 7

ABOVE: Just look at these beautiful photographs. These are the end-result of our students playing with light and shadows all with their cell phones. We love bringing in Kat from House of Vizion to share her love and passion for photography with our students. This was truly an insightful cell phone photography workshop done with the first year students.
RIGHT: Although this year has been another roller coaster with COVID-19 and the social gathering restictions, our first year students have had some very cool practical hour opportunities. They have worked at weddings and events at Laurent, Bakenhof and the Lourensford Market to name but a few. We are excited for the end of the year when event season will pick up again.
