Regatta
In glorious May sunshine, Aldro held its legendary Regatta. Pupils and visiting family members were treated to some great racing on the lake, intense matches of tug of war, an Aldro dog show and various fun activities including soaking staff and teachers in the stocks!
A huge thank you to the FoAA for all their hard work in organising the fête and raising over £1,000 for our school charity the RNLI.
The Regatta was also a lovely opportunity to celebrate Sir James and his 10 and final year at the helm of the Aldro Regatta. Thank you Sir James! th
New girls’ boarding House
It has been wonderful to welcome girls to the newly refurbished girls’ boarding house this term.
Fresh carpets, new showers and toilets and a brand new common room greeted them and they have quickly settled in.
If you are interested in a trial boarding night, please contact Miss Barratt.
Summer Term: May 2025
From the Head
I wish you could distil and bottle the essence of a Summer Term at Aldro! The recent Regatta saw the school bathed in sunshine, with happy voices ringing out across the lake as the dog show took place and a plethora of activities took place around the ground; magical Aldro!
As we reflect on the first half of term, this edition of the AldroLink celebrates, amongst other highlights, the opening of the new girls’ boarding house, numerous exciting trips (including another unforgettable tour to Iceland) and several wonderful events organised by the Development Office that have drawn together the wider Aldro community.
As always, I hope the articles and photos that follow evoke many fond memories of happy days at Aldro; and how I wish we could bottle that feeling!

School Trips
Pupils have been out and about enjoying an abundance of enriching trips this term, taking in a range of sites and experiences to support their studies.
At the start of term pupils returned from Iceland having seen a range of natural wonders and landscapes. Form 7 spent the day at Hampton Court Palace, scholars paid a visit to Oxford University, taking in the Bodleian Library as well as Merton College and Christ Church. Form 5 visited Portsmouth Historic Dockyard to see the Mary Rose and HMS Victory as part of their Tudors topic. There were also trips to Eton Museum, Neasden Hindu Temple and pupils took part in the Lancing Science competition. A busy half term!
Aldro’s Celebration of Art was a fantastic opportunity for the school’s budding artists to have their work displayed in a public exhibition for visitors to admire, in a transformed ASC! It was wonderful see so much Aldro art work on display and so many pupils awarded prizes for their efforts. Huge thanks to Mrs Fenwick for coordinating this art showcase.
We must also congratulate Alec whose artwork 'In 30 Years Time' was recently accepted into the Young Artists' Summer Show 2025 exhibition (launching on 15 July) at the Royal Academy of Arts! Congratulations Alec! th

Prefects’ Dinner
After a busy half of term, Form 8 Prefects enjoyed dinner at the Headmaster’s house on Thursday evening. It was an opportunity for the Headmaster to thank the Prefects for their leadership and hard work in their final year at Aldro.
Aldro’s newly created Development Office has been busy keeping the Aldro community connected this Spring!
Mr Margesson recently hosted a fabulous OA Reunion on a beautiful sunny Saturday and drew in OAs aged 18 to 88. It was an opportunity for guests to reminisce, play pétanque with Monsieur, enjoy the History Table with Mr Swan and sail on the lake. It was lovely to connect with all of our OAs and to hear how they are getting on.
The Development Office rounds off this half term with celebratory drinks this evening to commemorate 10 years of the Aston Sports Centre (ASC). It’s a great opportunity for those who supported the ASC fundraising efforts to join in a celebratory evening and reflect on the value it has brought to pupils over the last 10 years.
