•Responsible for analysis and supervision of multiple projects, assisting in the speed, quality, cost reduction and standardization of the work delivered. A primary example, the project of the Science and Technology Buildings. Additionally the renovation of the building annex of the Physics and Chemistry Institute, Campus of the city of Camaçari. As well as the firefighting project of the Polytechnic School as projects with areas larger than 15.000, m2.

•Acting as an assistant in the analysis of project documentation towards bids and proposals.

•Responsible for development of all stages of an architectural design; Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Document and monitoring of constructions at SUMAI (Superintendent of Urbanism, Environment and Infrastructure). As an example, the project of renovation of the fifth floor for the Institute of Chemistry, after a fire incident having destroyed the entire floor.

•Responsible for the development of large and medium sized architectural projects relying on medium sized scale urban interventions. Including but not limited to the Project for the requalification and renovation of the Praça do Senhor do Bonfim (Senhor do Bonfim square) with the creation of annexed buildings; and the Project for the headquarters of the OAB Bahia (lawyer Order of Brazil Bahia) in the city of Salvador and the units in the countryside of the state of Bahia.

The present project is a renovation of a high standard apartment with 4 suites and an employee’s bedroom located in the Graça neighborhood in Salvadro, Bahia, Brazil.

The development of the project was based on the needs presented by the client; larger bedroom with large closet, a bedroom for her grandson to sleep and study, a living room integrated with the balcony, 2 tables one for dining and the other for serving drinks, integrated living room and TV room, and a space for plants.

The initial decision during the very first drafts was to remove one of the dividing walls between the master bedroom and a second bedroom, allowing the growth of the master suite also and integrating the second bathroom, as had been requested. By defining this as the design approach to be followed, the

need arises to find a space to serve as a linen closet; therefore came up the idea to advance, from de bedroom hall, a linen closet that would project into the living room generating the starting point of a long L-shaped bench that would accompany the 2 white walls of the living room, starting from the access and ending in the window of the old balcony.

Another definition of great importance was the integration of the balcony with the living room, which allowed a wider living room space and a large dining room separated only by the clear delimitation of the gray carpet.

To resolve issues of central air conditioning installations and the need for support cabinets for the dining room, a large cabinet was designed with technical space voids, cabinets and niches just by the wall of the kitchen and lavatory. On the opposite

Technical Layout

This set of houses was designed for a construction company that requested an adaptation of one of its lands to accommodate the maximum number of houses.

The requirements were that the houses were of a good standard and easily built; therefore, we opted for a proposal of semi-detached houses with 2 different accesses, generating 2 condominiums of 3 compact and good quality houses with 3 bedrooms and ample front yard and a patio that helps in the cross ventilation of the rooms.

The constructive solution adopted was steel pillars and beams and precast concrete slabs with ther-

moacoustic insulation in polystyrene.

As these are houses in a hot and humid city, we decided to have ventilation and natural lighting in all bathrooms, for this we need to use skylights leading to the roof.

The set of houses were designed to capture rainwater and reuse them, as the concept permeated sustainable thinking, we also designed a green roof to improve the house’s temperature.

Casas Colina C

Establishment steps As the land chosen by the construction company was on a slope, we decided to keep the original morphology of the land and arrange the houses in sequences, descending together with the slope, following the contours and moving as little earth as possible. We also studied the positioning of the sun so that all the houses made the most of the rising sun, taking advantage of the fact that the land was sloping, helping in the natural lighting of the houses, since any house was not blocking the entrance of the sun.

The housing complex project in Santa Maria, Goais, Brazil, was a project competition in which a project was conceived for a residential building with single-family housing that needed to follow the guidelines pre-established by the Housing Development Company of the Federal District.

modulation and identitY We started from the need to use the maximum constructive potential of the land of 1,200 m² (coefficient 4.0), promoting a single typology of housing unit (uhs).

The number of uhs was established through a relationship between the height of the building and the possible number of parking spaces (1 unit/uh) in up to two basements.

The height of the building was defined from the limitation of the angle of 68º next to the boundary of the neighboring lot, which also establishes the parameters of aeration, lighting and mandatory setbacks) and the maximum number of floors to be served by a staircase, without the need for an antechamber, of the protected type (ep), according to nbr 9077.

Access to the commercial program will be made on the ground floor, through an active facade, facing the public parking lots, providing the building with probable financial self-sustainability, minimizing the possible degradation of the property along

the over time, favoring surveillance and security for residents and users.

The layout of the building's volume, along the longest plot length, favors a more optimized launch of underground and surface parking spaces.

Consequently, the number of shops and housing units follows the logic of the maximum span established between the pillars in the basements.

In this way, we obtained 9 housing units per floor, each with 49.50 m² of computable area and 1 parking space.

There are a total of 10 floors, totaling 90 uhs, commercial area with stores of up to 115.00 m², totaling 4,800.00 m² of computable area per building. In order to establish a visual identity between the floors and the buildings, we chose to use colors of the same hue in the exterior masonry walls, varying their tonality between floors.

of popular housing. However, the spaces are flexible and easy to adapt to stores that need smaller private area. Between the vehicle accumulation area, we created 3 outdoor parking spaces on the ground floor intended for tenants. after the gate access, 16 surface parking spaces are franchised to the residents. a ramp of vehicles with 25% slope access to underground garages. 36 vacancies for residents are available on the 1st 10basement, with 38 spaces distributed in the second lower floor. There are 90 vacancies for residential use, 5 of which 3 are accessible, and 3 vacancies for the 2 stores, totaling 93 vacancies per building.

TYPICAL FLOOR PLANE AND HOUSING UNIT The vertical circulation core, with a vision for two elevators and a protected staircase, connects to the horizontal circulation of the apartments. We chose to extend the slab of one of the apartment blocks by 1.50 m, allowing 1.85 m to be left between slabs. This arrangement promotes better aeration and lighting in the apartments, in addition to reducing the costs generated by a central circulation supported on concrete beams cast in place. All units of

project are completely accessible to wheelchair users, without the need to carry out any readjustment work. All rooms are covered by cross ventilation and the repetition of constructive elements allowed the feasibility of aluminum frames with glass sheet on the main facade and on those oriented to the internal circulation of the building.

We used a precast reinforced concrete brise to prevent excessive sunlight from entering the units.

so that upper frames can be open, almost permanently. The brise also works as a bed for possible installations of air conditioning in the units, without compromising the image of the whole.

Each housing unit complies with the conditions established by the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program, with the Performance standard nbr 15,575 and with the Accessibility standard nbr 9050.

Through the permeability of the building, permanent cross ventilation is promoted in the building, minimizing the energy consumption from air conditioned. it is avoided using artificial light, guaranteeing to the building the longest time as possible of taking advantage of natural illumination The excess sun is controlled by a horizontal brise along the entire module of the housing unit, promoting greater thermal comfort and protection against rain. As the units are all identical, the cost of executing the construction elements drops significantly, optimizing the construction process and reducing waste on site. We locate the solar panels on the metal roof, ensuring permanent source of funding. The building includes the capture and use of rainwater for various uses and the treatment of drinking water for reuse in toilets.

ConstruCtion The project takes into account the economyscale, by repeating the constructive elements and, consequently, cost and waste reduction in units production. The building adopts mixed construction system: on the floor type, wall masonry in blocks is used concrete and prefabricated slabs; Starting of the slab on the first floor, thetransition of masonry system loads mural through beams, slabs and pillars in cast-in-place reinforced concrete. The displacement between building blocks minimizes horizontal and building wind, with locks through of the floor slabs, which work in a solidary way, stiffening the structure. The stair module must serve as logistical support to the construction site, facilitating transport of materials and workers, helping as a guide for construction of the rest of the floors.

On the roof, we opted for a structure light metal, covered with thermoacoustic tiles, supported on the waterproofed slab, aligned with the axes of the structural walls of housing units.

Vilage Imbassaí was a project requested by a construction company to try a real estate development.

They had contact with the owner of a land in the municipality of Imbasssaí and wanted to promote the best use of the land with a project that serves as a beach house or as a small house to live in.

To meet this demand, it was necessary to think of an architectural proposal that was compact for a beach house but comfortable for a 2 bedroom house. Therefore, it was chosen to use individual access to each unit, for the best use of the land, the units were designed as narrow as possible and the maximum number of floors allowed by local legislation was used.

With the aim of reducing the price of m2 of the unit, an empty intermediate floor was designed to be completed by the customer if he was inte-

rested in increasing the size of the apartment.

In addition to the units, a leisure area with swimming pool, changing rooms and barbecue was also thought. The paving was all designed in permeable blocks.

The structure designed for the building was in reinforced concrete and prefabricated concrete slabs. the stairwells are made of reinforced concrete, also functioning as pillars.

The Cloc Marina business office was a simple project developed for a client, who was the owner of the space, trying to sell the space with a project for an advertising company. How the company had the space and needed to advertise for sale; having a project to attract customers more easily, demonstrating the capacity and constructive feasibility of the space, was the best option found.

The project took into account the need for 4 main environments; a reception with restrooms, a pantry that was integrated into the reception living room, a meeting room and a production room.

A peculiar aspect of the project was the existence of an uncovered terrace, which generated a kind of large balcony overlooking the Baía de Todos os Santo (the second largest bay in the world and one of the most beautiful views of the city).

The project of the multi-sport court on the UFBA campus in the city of Vitória da Conquista, was a simple project, but with a complexity in the choice of space on the existing land and not correct positioning, since it was a non-air-conditioned space with the need to have openings covers for wind and sunlight.

To meet the basic needs of a sports court, a changing room was located and an administration to take care of the space.

Some bleacher spaces and an external square were also planned for conviviality and use of other spaces on the university campus.
