Our bespoke programme is designed for students wishing to study Medicine, Dentistry, Vet Med, Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at university.

‘‘Students benefit from Medical Science guest lectures at King’s, UCL and Imperial College.’’ Dr James Patterson Head of Biology

Students have weekly seminars at the college in which they are introduced to topics of current medical/scientific interest and discussions are held around the topics. Visiting professionals are also invited to give talks to students in person and through our Zoom portal.

Work experience placements are a key feature of this programme and through our commercial partners and network of professional contacts we are able to secure relevant work experience for students across a wide range of professions including veterinary medicine.

The Medical Sciences Programme (MSP) is led by our Head of Science, Dr James Patterson, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, and he is assisted by other members of the Science and Psychology departments.

BMAT & UCAT Preparation

The college runs in-house courses for UCAT and BMAT preparation, free to all Albemarle students.

The UCAT course focuses on test and revision strategies, identifying weaknesses in reasoning and decision analysis, as well as question practise. The BMAT course covers the full range of skills required for the test, including revision of core science and numeracy. For more information please see the MSP brochure on the website.

Our Economics & Management Programme is designed for students wishing to study Business, Economics, Management, PPE or related degree courses

“Our teachers bring with them a wealth of experience from other professions such as investment banking, law and accountancy, and so are able to support students with meaningful careers advice.”

Students will generally study Economics and/or Maths amongst their A-level subjects at the college, and some will also opt to study Further Maths, either at AS-level or A-level.

Our programme incorporates lectures by eminent speakers at LSE and the Royal Economic Society.

Another key feature of the programme is work experience placements and students are given help and advice to secure placements at prominent investment banks and other institutions including KPMG, Goldman Sachs and Deloitte.

Students also benefit from talks at the college given by Admissions tutors from various universities including LSE, King’s and UCL.

Fine Art, Design and Architecture

Students studying A-level Art & Design and/or Photography benefit from the help and support from teachers to build excellent portfolios essential to gain entry to degree courses including Architecture, Fine Art, Fashion and Graphic design.

All A-level Art and Photography students have to produce a Personal Study, the subject of which is geared towards their chosen degree course area. Teachers also have a great deal of input in helping students to build and develop their individual portfolios, both in-book and digital versions. These portfolios are crucial for admission to most art-related degree courses.

Most students on our Art & Architecture programme will opt to attend one of our recommended summer courses in between their first and second years, run by one of our partner institutions, such as the prestigious Bartlett School of Architecture. Courses are primarily in London but there are opportunities to take part in courses abroad in the south of France, Prague and Paris.

Students benefit from guest lectures on the History of Art and Architecture, which gives a grounding in the chronology of development of style, materials and techniques in two and three dimensional work, as well as greater precision in subsequent analysis which is extremely useful and akin to the first year of study at university level. Students progress on to a wide range of Art Schools and universities including Central St Martins (UAL), Royal College of Art, UCL, Leeds and Loughborough.
